  1. Well he played two GF's with bad injuries. I don't think it a matter of him coming up short. More a victim of St Kilda having structural problems IMO.
  2. I hope the club really looks at Eddy a lot closer than some posters here who dismiss him outright without even bothering to articulate a sentence as to why. I suppose the club should be a good position to assess him now that Brian Royal is back.
  3. I always have liked hard working types and I think they should not be dismissed outright. One is far more useful than two talents that don't deliver. The way people are dismissing the Saints is like they are talking about Richmond. Amazing how the Saints played so well with so little depth and crushing teams with depth week after week. They could have pinched a flag if the ball didn't take a weird bounce in the first GF. An Eddy on our list is not going to decimate our depth or derail our long term plans. St Kilda's structural problems are far different to ours. A little bit of that blood type in our team won't hurt us. These guys get better with age if they don't get injured. He's the type of player who can set a good example with his defensive pressure which many of our guys are clueless with at the moment. And apply some more self sacrificing midfield hardness which is also a priority. This guy even if he plays only a dozen games a season could give us the critical 1% edge that could be the difference in winning tight games. I think he would be a bargain in a rookie spot at minimal risk.
  4. I just want to see a red and blue thundering herd stampeding into the MCG.
  5. ?? Best 22's are very hard to find. Perhaps you can tell us who will fit into our best 22?
  6. A lot has been said about all this and I am no to going to discuss this malcontent anymore. But I would add; In all my years of following this club I have never heard or seen a more positive and clear indicator as from the current coach and administration in dealing with this situation that demonstrates the deepest heartfelt desire to achieve winning a premiership. The turning point has been reached.
  7. I am starting to think about the contracts around these days that have trigger point of games to be played for an automatic rollover. Not good for the game IMO. Encourages players to farm their season out and soft shoe shuffle to ensure they get to the trigger point. Also can encourage bad habits and can cast aspersions on individuals. Players on these types of deals are unlikely to be dropped for a couple bad games at a time. I think clubs should make a policy to refuse these kind of demands by players and their managers.
  8. An excellent neutral perspective although the polarised opinions on this forum will stay. This episode in our history will still be debated for a few years yet.
  9. Does this guy barrack for the Demons or Cam Bruce?
  10. In a poker hand that would J6. Work it out
  11. Perhaps we should call him goose. Easier for the Chinese to pronounce.
  12. My last post on this topic. I have the greatest respect for Mick Malthouse even though he coaches the scum of the land. If he doesn't rate this guy then I have no problem to defer to to his wisdom. This guy is sucker bait.
  13. DEBT DEMOLITION DELIVER'S DEMON DELIVERANCE
  14. I can't see any loss, I'm being blinded by the light finally appearing at the end of the long tunnel.
  15. How about "Premiership Premium" or something based around the word premiership. No debt does not mean we have Collingwoods bankroll and we still wont be able to compete with them on that level until we get richer.
  16. Go for a guy like Thorp with no strings attached or pluck a likely junior type from the draft or elsewhere to develop. We could live without one at the moment.
  17. Never felt so optimistic to how club is travelling for a very long time. The biggest time/money waster and serial wet sponge at the club is gone. Bailey Goosed the Bruce!
  18. No doubt there will a be lot more trashed elsewhere. Memorabilia collectors here is your chance. Bruce collectables in Melbourne colours will be a rare item one day. Go out and get as many as you can find.
  19. Extremely poor value for money considering the financial and performance hardships this club has suffered. And the cheek of the guy wanting serious big money for two more seasons to continue to play a soft 80% as he's done for years.
  20. I can't fathom all this needless worry about our youth. In a couple of years when the list is closer to its peak all the necessary experience will have been accumulated. Natural leaders will emerge or else we go to default as in some cases in the recent past. If we need to recruit an experienced player it will be done on a needs basis assuming there are suitable and available options IMO
  21. We got MacDonald last year. Good value so far. And Jurrah too though he ended up there by accident.
  22. Overall there seems to be a lot of slim pickings in the reject bin this year
  23. Maybe he doesn't get on with the coach? It appeared to me there was some tension in Bailey's words when Cam was mentioned.
  24. With Neagle we would be getting another Miller. Thorpe I think would be a gamble worth taking for the right price and if he didn't expect to be an automatic starter.
