  1. The club has got to take a stand even if we do lose him for 3 weeks. It's a worthy case and they should fight it all the way. Gotta be agressive off field too.
  2. I tend to agree. I can see the scenario that we will have a half dozen or so 200+ game players with nothing to show for it in 10 years time and the rest withered on the vine from the current crop. What concerns me is that we are currently playing with something like this mentality and nothing seems to have changed for the past 20 years. The next few weeks will be an indicator to see if anything has really changed. One thing encouraging though is that most supporters are sick and tired of all this, demanding results and less tolerant of soft excuses. Far too passive for many years.
  3. Horrid luck for him and the club. I hope it is not a bad one and looking forward to see him back next season. I'm hopeful someone will step up. If we have true character something like shown last Sunday we should carry on. If we don't it wont make any difference anyway.
  4. Would have a better chance if Mick Gatto took on the job.
  5. If I recall well, it appeared Patrick landed on his right side first and then his head bounced on the ground. I think this may be worth appealing but I don't think we would get the same sympathy that the filth get when they appeal a suspension. Whatever happens, its great to see some robust tackling from us. Whens the last time we had a suspension?
  6. Dangerfield's got a soft head. About time he got himself a helmet.
  7. I was surprised to see the ball in our forward line for such a long time. Even our forwards in the 1st quarter looked so surprised that they fumbled at least three easy uncontested marks within range. About time to see proactive football and pushing to keep the ball forward.
  8. 50% success rate for the remainder of the season will give us 11.5 wins which should be the minimum to earn 8th spot. Not unrealistic despite all the powerhouses out there and our soft draw helps.
  9. If can get consistent form we are are good chance to beat SK. C and E. As with the filth anything can happen going by last seasons efforts. Its a long season and the real pretenders have not been exposed yet. Taking two of these games in not an unreasonable expectation. Now that we have 14 points on the board a 50% success rate for the rest of the season should get us there. And we have another crack at GCS and Brisbane to boot. The opportunities are there for Bailey to get this team a finals campaign. If he gets us there I would persevere with him. But if we drop out of the running for the finals then he must go.
  10. I've been saying for a while that we have been underachieving and that we should be pushing forward this season. We are in the eight now and I do not see any reason why we should not be there at end of round 22. Baileys job for the rest of the season to keep the players focused on grabbing the 4 points every week. I don't want to see yesterdays performance as an aberration caused by the humiliation factor. As long as we are on track he stays but can't afford any backsliding.
  11. If we kept Miller, McDonald, Bruce and perhaps Robbo our game averages and age would have made us a slam dunk to be a powerhouse according to all the silly statistics in this thread. GCS sure are inconsistent but they have managed to pinch a couple of games against all odds already this season. Not something we look like doing this season.
  12. No brainer what to expect attitude wise but I'd to see us attack the game front on from the beginning. Bailey cast away that disaster plan thats smothering our players elan
  13. If we play like last week tomorrow and Bailey gets the sack on Monday it wont be an over-reaction. It better not happen.
  14. Whatever abomination of red it is I think the pink school will eventually win the argument. Every week several tens of thousands will see some shade of red live perhaps? But millions on TV will see pink. Considering that sports jerseys are designed more for the benefit of TV viewers rather than live spectators this is an embarrassing botch up.
  15. We could name the new colour Apologist Red.
  16. If we start the game with the same game plan I will be disappointed. The way we play surrenders initiative and momentum when the opposition is at its freshest from the very first bounce. Kind of a "Rope a Dope" style of play. Our game kicks up a notch when the other side tires a little or drop off intensity. GCS even got the jump on us. Everyone knows what we are going to do. Thats why we are slow starters and mostly playing catch up footy. If Adelaide comes to play hard we are going to be on the back foot just like against WC. People talk about intensity, application and commitment. Less than 100% of this is non negotiable for us this week. But if the other side comes fired up and allowed to make the positive plays it may not be enough. What I want to see is us to gain the initiative straight away. We have to win centre clearances, man up and win contests to ensure we can grab it early. If we get a break on them then switch back to the rebounding game. Not to wait until they get 5 goals up and slacken off to start going forward. .
  17. Our immature playing list are being paid not much different to the best in the comp. The road the powers that be have chose to travel has been mapped out. But I'd kill if we could have a gun experienced midfielder to add to what we have now. Can we afford one?
  18. Disagree, they sound like Right wingers. Viva la revolucion!
  19. I am starting to find the excuse that we have been smashed by bigger bodies a little tiresome. Seems to be trotted up every time we play like wimps.
  20. I'm not Twitter literate and don't understand how it works but is it really him or someone pretending to be him?
  21. I would say that Roos Malthouse, Mathews and Clarkson would all be candidates worth considering. We don't need an Eade type who's teams have more or less mirrored our unrealised potential minus the really bad years. Hearing Roos on THE COUCH this week was very interesting. When the discussion came to us he appeared a little uncomfortable and under some pressure and it looked like that Healy and Sheahan were interrogating him IMO. Don't know whats going on there. For Malthouse I'm not sure he would find it appealing to coach us given our culture. I feel he may find it a better package to coach Carlton. With a little luck St Kilda could have beaten the filth last season. The margin when ultimate success is up for grabs is so small. As for Mathews. He's been there, done that. He's got a good media career now that looks very secure. May not be interested in coaching anymore. I still feel Bailey can get us to the eight. Some of the footy we have played this season has been very impressive but always of the catch up variety. But our worst has been lamentable. He has to turn things around quick. We are fortunate that we have been able to get some early cheap points this season which has given us a fighting chance for rebounding.
  22. I take your word for it but it does not reflect on to the playing group or their game plans.
  23. Crossed posts. Very well said.
  24. What appeals to me about Clarkson is that he has been able to change and innovate his coaching style and it appears he has a very strong personality. We have had too many thoughtful nice guy types in recent decades. I'd like to see someone with a little psycho streak in him. He created the rolling zone that defeated Geelong at the top of their game. Now he has ditched that in response to changing times and is mastering the new pressing style in vogue. And also demonstrated with devastating effect against us. With Hawthorn I don't think he has the players to create a long term dominant team like the recent Brisbane, Geelong and now perhaps Collingwood sides. He is still a young man and is an age peer of Todd Viney. Will be good to see him team up with Todd Viney again who was with him in their rapid development phase. Does anyone know how they get along?
  25. After last week Dean Bailey said we have to go back to basics. I wonder what this means to how we are going to approach the game on Sunday. Is he going to make everyone accountable and play man on man? GS played this way against PA for the most part and achieved a stunning victory. Or is he going to continue to plug away with the same old game plan or try something new? And what will be the consequences if the players front up with the same pathetic attitude of the past few weeks? The in and outs for this week don't impress me much. It seems to be always the same usual suspects that get rotated after a bad loss. No real statement here.
