  1. If Jones, Moloney, Sylvia and Davey can improve by 10% and all the newbies also improve from what they have shown then we might have a cracking midfield. The potential is there, I can't wait for next season.
  2. I can't fault Jamar's improvement over the past year. I would rate only Sandilands as having an edge on him. The only thing left to do for him is to continue and deliver for the next few seasons with some support. His tap work is the most astute and accurate in the game at the moment. If anything our midfield has not come along with him. We need more grunt there. When the ball is loose in broken stoppage contests we don't get it at the second and third efforts. It's almost predictable that the other side gets the clearance in broken play. And despite our lauded defence we are still hopeless at backs to the wall stoppages within 30 metres of goal. I don't know if it is a structural problem or player problem but it has nothing to do with Jamar's work. I WOULD SAY OUR MIDFIELD IS CERTAINLY OVERRATED! I said in another thread we need some more inside midfield grunt, not a silky outside cruiser or tall marking forward. Thats my opinion anyway.
  3. Yours reminds me of Grandpa Munster. The image on the badge looks more appropriate and would make a better base model to work on..
  4. Well yours is one of the better ones. But I don't like the magpie legged proportions and face looks a little bland.
  5. I heard that the club want's to reintroduce one of the older demon logo's from the 60's. I was around then but I can't remember much what it looked like. I have had a problem with all of the demon logos that have been paraded around in the past few decades. All look so bland and wimpy with absolutely no charisma, personality and easily forgettable. Kind of reflect the mediocrity of the past few decades. I have read that many in the club and marketing guru's have been uncomfortable having such a sinister entity as a club logo as it might scare families, religious types and such and be a bad influence on children. In many countries the demon logo is not something that needs to be toned down or hidden. In Latin America, the demon figure is used as a decoration on Christmas trees and features prominently in many social events like carnivals and the like despite people being far more religious than us. I think our demon logo should be somewhat more imposing and exhibit a hint of wickedness but perhaps a little cartoonish and humorous so not to scare the kids. Should have a Mardi Gras type personality. Should be strong, erotically masculine and to look more like Mark Jamar rather than like Travis Johnstone as some of the older ones remind me of. Any other opinions?
  6. Well said. It's so easy to be a cheap shot artist when hiding behind a computer. But is a problem for all forums. If not well moderated things can get out of control. In well run forums moderators won't let this kind of nonsense persist. On this forum most swear words are banned because we have many "young members" but its OK to abuse and humiliate others in far worse nasty and bitchy ways. I think the mods should take a stand or this forum is going to lose rational members, be dominated by [censored] and lose all credibility.
  7. Anyone in this team that can't dispose of the ball properly and/or go soft in the clinches.
  8. This thread should have been good for a few throw away opinions and thats it.
  9. Bruce along with all of the 10+ seasons players that have already left the club in recent years have the legacy of playing in under achieving and steadily declining teams. I agree he still has the goods for another year and Brad Green for a few more yet. To fully affect the culture change the emergence of new blood must not be stifled or inhibited. As the famous Chinese proverb goes. "If the old wont go away then the new won't come".
  10. It is a [censored] mystery or else there wouldn't have been two long winded threads debating what should have been a routine contract issue. Most mysteries end up as no big deal anyway when the answer is revealed. We are still waiting.
  11. What ever happened to his brother. Was it Tom? I can't remember much about him. Did he have injuries or did he play like Robbie looked like?
  12. If he did get a another season with us he will be BOG for sure in two or three games. The problem is he will go completely missing for double that easy. I can't see him changing his ways unless he gets divine inspiration.
  13. Had a very long career despite his deficiencies. Should not be too upset. If he didn't have No 1 draft pick on his resume he would have lasted four or five seasons at best.
  14. How about Gary Guy. This guy know his limitations. Couldn't kick and rarely ever did. Could get the ball though. Not unusual for him to give out 15-20 plus handballs without a kick in a game.
  15. Paul Goss, wasn't he one of the feral Port Mebourne Goss clan? I think he was one of the famous rogues gallery down at Port in the 70's.
  16. Yes, I would guess that about 98% of all players who ever played for Melbourne were a lot better than Cordner. Still can't figure what percentage are better than Watts at this stage though.
  17. I hope he does well but needs to start moving or he will become another David Cordner. As for Chris Lamb, I thought he would have been a good defender. Looked a little slow at times but got under the skin of some heavyweight forwards like Carey and Co on a regular basis. I don't know why but Daniher had it in for him.
  18. I wonder if Jack Watts will get a nomination on this list down the track.
  19. All very intriguing. We will see if your suppositions are correct in due time.
  20. This should not be an issue. All these players and you can include Jeff White were great players for this club in teams that never fulfilled expectations and ended up a rabble. If their departures were premature then some other club would have picked them up. Its not a matter of loyalty. Their time was up but we respect their contributions. The game is not about individuals, its the ongoing survival, renewall and future success of the club. If the Bombers want to keep Inspector Gadget beyond his use by date then thats better for us when we meet them again. With Crawf, he knew his time was up and retired though no doubt he could have eked another year if he really wanted to. If Cam can get a better deal elsewhere good luck to him but I trust the FD to make the right decision for the sake of the clubs future.
  21. The Cinderella award for the most deserving but ignored on this thread so far. Mark Jamar.
  22. As emblems go its OK. Haven't got a problem with it. But if a club wants to tout its heritage and history then why bother change its emblem at all? Why not bring back our very first original one that was born with the club so we don't have to have all these useless debates and feel the need to change it when we get a new administration or go down in the dumps again.
