Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
John Crow Batty replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Crime was a lot more effective in the days of brown paper bags and meetings in smoky pubs. -
None of our first round draft picks have been worthy of being Dangerfield's or Beam's toe jam at this stage of their careers.

Brendan McCartney no longer coach of the Doggies
John Crow Batty replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
We may be seeing an excellerating trend here where longstanding senior players with currency in teams that are a long way off a flag jumping ship en mass. This can only help the better and wealthier clubs to keep topping up their lists. Griffin and Cooney have been long standing servants but have had little effect in making their clubs contenders in the overall big picture.. So will they be missed? Their perceived value may be countered by the general club instabilty linked towards them. If you want out then start causing trouble, and blame the coach, its just too easy. IMO the Bulldogs have made a huge premature mistake removing McCartney. They have lost players that were not keen in helping out the direction the club was heading in and now also have no coach. Player power is starting to get out of control. -
Schwab was on to something when he made him and Grimes co-captains. He knows the value of handsome clean cut pin up boys. It's that intangible X factor with no substance that send teenagers into hysterics for no logical reason. Callow football supporters are just as susceptable. The net total of their productivity does not add up to the adulation. They reconcile themselves that next season will be the breakout year.

Sewell and Mitchell have been consistently elite not long since they first started and rarely dropped off. Mitchell may be slow but not Trengove slow and arguably the best and quickest decision maker in the game and a proven leader. Trengove has been stuttering the last three seasons for various reasons.

If its for the the good of the club then I'll take it. No player is bigger than the club. His career with us has been a sad story so far for all the promise he had. Hawthorn did a similar thing when Clarkson had a year on the job. Moved out some players which became good at other clubs but turned the Hawks back into a powerhouse.

I wonder how much longer Eddie can stick up for his mate? Those two are so far up each that it would be impossible to surgically seperate them. They both will go together. -

A coach who despite possessing admirable football qualities but cannot connect with players or master the local politics has Buckley's chance of being successful. That asks the question to who's next in line? -

Thats because they put too much weight on reflected success, corporate speak spin and glossy powerpoint presentations. The people hiring should look deeper into the individual qualities. I am sure there are potentially great assistant coaches wallowing away at unsuccessful clubs who just need the right opportunity but likely never will. Bulldogs fell into the trap in thinking because he was at Geelong he must be good just like us with Neeld and also Sanderson. Reflected success seems to be a mandatory qualification at some clubs. -
Strange comments. Vaguely talking about undefined timelines. Avoided saying he would definitely be playing with the Crows next season and at this stage seems more commited to playing in the upcoming International Rules games.

How [censored] up is he? Can't even decide what his true beef is. Looks like he will fight for any incidental "principle" he can find. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
John Crow Batty replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
A bit underwhelmed but hoping Roos can do some of his renowned "value adding" to semi lost causes. -
A bit perplexed at what's going on in trade week. Already Thursday afternoon and we haven't got much action. Lamumba deal not tidied up and diddly squat eveything else. Either something big is going to happen or very little. Edit, I forgot about Garlett.

That will ruin my Christmas.

Every good fisherman knows that the best fishing days are during a fullish moon. And around lunar eclipse on a full moon makes for very auspicious fishing.
