What really impressed me was the ball movement and run from our players in the first half. Everyone worked hard to get free. At half time I thought there is no way they were going to keep that style of play given the quite warm conditions. If the aim was just to win it was done then. A guy who I supervised at work was to funny business. I had no hard evidence though pretty sure of what he was up to. I made life hell for him for a while, bluffed him, then made a deal. This went on for about 14 months until he used up all his sick leave then retired. Plenty of doctors around who will liberally give out medical certificates, no questions asked. Almost impossible to prove any wrong doing with the practice.

Well that is bizarre. Are there Statutes of Limitations? Consideration for ongoing suffering of the players? If what is said is true, an excuse has been dreamed up to reduce penalties. That I will not be surprised.

Paying 100% of the salary cap as has been quoted possibly has prevented the depression scourge from infecting the rest of the list. We should be thankful for that.

One thing that cannot be denied. He made outstanding progress after he left us.

Brings me back to the next game against Geelong at Kardinia Park after 186. Our first goal was kicked by Clark after some fantastic solo scrambling and what ended up a miraculous goal by him. Not one team mate went up to congratulate him. Something smelled off even then.

If all the basics have been sorted out I expect improvement not unlike Port have done. Our problems were more entrenched but hopefully have finally bottomed out since Roos appeared. My only concern is that the [censored] attitude at the end of last season which negated much of the early improvement might reapper. Can this mob fight their inner doubts and LMF when things get tough? I expect at least 8 wins. I hope to shed my white feather avatar ASAP.

Remember about 11 years ago Geelong nearly gone according to the doom sayers.

Bartlett and Ralph are media mouths which part of their brief entails them to spread doom and gloom to fill in a lot of airtime on SEN. There is not enough info of real substance going around to fill in all those hours.

The AFL have to be in on it to make it work. I doubt Hird will be be in the package if that is the case.
