  1. He will be a valuable asset on the track to support his teamates finals campaign.
  2. If you can't get what you want, anxiety and depression Is a typical consequence. I am sure most of us have been through it.
  3. Many years ago travelling through Communist Yugoslavia I had to pay three seperate bribes within a 24 hr period. Once to get out of jail after being set up. Another to avoid a trumped up trafficking charge at the border with Italy and a speeding infringement when I wasn't speeding just after crossing the border.
  4. I would go a little further than just salary/draft weighted compensation. The spurned club has also lost plenty for the development and marketing of the player and team and they can reasonably argue that losing such a valuable player will cost them games and premiership points in the future irrespective of compensation received. Clubs that draft players who willingly spurn their club and contractual obligations should not only be forced to pay monetary/draft compensation but also hand 2 to 4 premiership points for the following season to the spurred club. Money comes easy for rich clubs but few would have the nerve to sacrifice premiership points for any player because it can come back to bite them hard. A tough approach is needs because it's starting to get out of control.
  5. The AFL has got to stop these spoilt brats and their club of choice abusing the system. One way to do it is to force the clubs that eventually pick up these players in the PSD or whatever to pay hefty compensation to the spurned clubs. They may think twice if it is too costly going via the back door. I am sure there is some manipulation from clubs to persude promising youngsters to break the rules.
  6. Maybe he tried to pay his unofficial customs fees in Aussie dollars instead of US dollars? I had a similar problem a long time ago when I didn't have any of the real folding green stuff to smooth over formalities. Aussie dollars were not acceptable.
  7. I think his broad idea has some merit. Maybe with some rejjiging. Not 12 team finals though. I have thought along similar lines for a while. There needs to be some incentive for struggling clubs to play out the season. Under the current format, too many struggling clubs shut up shop early and make a yawn fest mockery of the second half of the season. There is no incentive to improve and no fear of relegation or worse. Disgraceful performances by us the the second half of last season and for the past decade say hello. Another formula for spicing up pre season games would be for pre season cup winners to be granted premium games the following season. Like a handsome guaranteed slice of Saturday night games or hosting ANZAC day for example.
  8. Australians in general don't like to believe their champion sportspersons could be drug cheats or corrupt unless they have a woggy name.
  9. No co-incidence that the NBA and NFL have the most grotesque humanoid freaks on the sporting planet. Their drug codes work wonders.
  10. When asked about the effect on his family he mentioned his children and friends and ex friends etc but forgot to mention his most loyal and devoted cheerleader wife who seems to have gone missing.
  11. Jamar will be as effective as this Russian bomber in 2016
  12. I recall one memorable episode of ON THE COUCH when Matty Knights who was under the pump at the time was being discussed and dear James in his soothing and caring tone was saying how he felt for him and in fact was going down to the club offering support and advice to help him through his difficulties. All said with the upmost expression of genuine sincerity and conviction. Of course we know what happened a couple of months later.
  13. Footy will be boring if there weren't any idiots around. Just adds to the colour. How dull if they were all clean cut mummy's boys?
  14. An article from THE AGE http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/viewers-slam-tracey-holmes-joke-abc-interview-with-james-hird-20160117-gm7vi2.html
  15. His timing was impeccable unlike others.
  16. Not 100% sure, but I think PJ was also a victim of the Hird coup.
  17. Interesting to see if he has anything to say about the rumours tomorrow night
  18. Did you dope?
  19. James spotted today at dress rehearsal for tomorrow's interview.
  20. She is going to flog him mercilessly with the fluffy end of a feather duster.
  21. There might be some chance that Hird might dump more new info tomorrow night, On what others at the club did or didn't do of course. But more likely we will hear more of his "I was a victim" garbage. I wonder if he will talk about the impact of the scandal on his family?
  22. And many have skeletons still in the closet. They don't want unnecessary scrutiny.
  23. I see, they are not interested in finding out what players were injected with. Says much for their interest in player welfare and health & safety.
  24. Where are the AFLPA in this side plot?
  25. Tracy appears to have taken over Tania's role as head cheerleader for TEAM HIRD. BTW anyone seen Tania's mug on the big screen recently?
