I did not pay much attention then but his game still has been good. If it does affect his game negatively losing more leadership responsibility then he is a problem we don’t need.

I don’t think he would be the type but if cracked the sooks because the captaincy was taken off him then he’s not the type of player we need going forward anyway.

What’s there to lose? We capitulate with monotonous regularity againt weak opposition due to poor leadership. This has cost us two finals series in a row. Other sides change their captains when required. Even Hawthorn with Hodge and Mitchell with no detrimental effect.

No criticism of Jones personal game but he is the senior co-captain and he when it gets tough he is too passive. All the standing up to the opposing argy bargy is left to the likes of Viney, Lewis, Vince, Bugg etc. These guys stand up for their teammates and also get suspended occasionally because they push the limits. Jones rarely sails close to the wind in supporting and firing up his team mates. Always in the background when the going gets tough.

Lame pathetic efforts like against Freo, North+2, Hawks, Collingwood and add Brisbane were mainly due to poor leadership. Jones should take ultimate responsibility because he is the top dog and it cost us plenty. Not the newbie Viney or others. I don’t see him firing up players or getting angry when the chips are down.

Was missed certainly as a player but he has been a culprit in many of our terrible starts. We won big games with him and without him. Co-captaincy is both a glass half full and half empty.

Despite our improvements in many areas leadership has perhaps gotten worse. Would be good if Jones relinquished position and played out the rest of his career as a great and loyal player. Viney should be sole captain next season.

Going back to the North game in Hobart it took no genius to see how the game would end wind or no wind. The weak way we play against flaky opposition is etched in stone and hasn’t changed for the past three seasons. The problem is beyond the scope of coaching, personnel and tactics. Time to sort out the leadership problem with some toughness. Firstly get rid of Jones as captain as we can’t be any worse without him leading. Give it to Viney and deputise someone else. I hope Jones will understand.

To sum up the grist of the trade rumours thread we are going to trade the meat of our forward line, Watts, Hogan and Weid for a defender Lever. Pedo will own the forward line next season.

Was a much better player when he was Harry O'Brien. Seemed always solid and reliable under Malthouse until he lamumbared himself and then us.

People are kidding themselves beliving we lost a finals spot due to missteps during the early and middle/late part of season. Those misstep cost us a higher ladder postition and consolidation in the eight. We really blew it in the last two rounds as in 2016. The finals spot was there for the taking. F**king weak chokers.

Well it's been a slow linear improvement so if the trend continues we should make the eight next season but we blew this prime chance already this season and arguably last season as well. He has a big job to sort out the mental demons.

Got my pamphlet today. Only made me angrier because I was expecting important documents that didn't arrive and I leave the country tomorrow. The little piece of crap is all I got.

Off to a 3 week business trip tomorrow OS. For the past few months been wondering whether I should have put if off given our best chance to make finals for over a decade though this is the ideal time for me to go. Then I rationalised to myself that maybe I would be back with us deep into the finals. Turned out I could not have made a wiser decision.

In other words chokers like last season when they chucked it in one round earlier. Where is the belief? Obstacles have to be overcome and all opportunities fought for.

I agree we should have been close or in the 4 but we choked all the games against bottom sides.

All the nominations are great goals but the baggage that comes with them leaves a bad taste. After all WC, Collingwood and Adelaide hasd the last laugh. Thats why I go for Hunt's goal. Pure execution of the most difficult kick though irrelevant in the context of the result.
