  1. Thanks for everyone's answers. I get the sense that the top 10 were rated pretty evenly after Daniher, O'Meara and Whitfield. Interesting that Knightmare does not rank this years pick 2 and 3 (O'Rourke and Plowman) in his top 10.
  2. I am interested in an educated opinion on where Hogan, Toumpas and Viney would have been selected in this years draft if there were no father son selections or mini draft. I am aware Hogan and Martin were eligible due to their age, but it would be interesting to see what order the top 10 picks would have been had O'Meara, Crouch, Daniher, Viney, Martin and Hogan were all available for seletion. For what it is worth my guess is as follows: 1. GWS - Daniher 2. GC - O'Meara 3. Melbourne - Whitfield 4. Melbourne - Martin 5. WB - Crouch 6. WB - Plowman 7. PA - O'Rourke 8. Brisbane - Toumpas 9. Richmond - Hogan 10. Essendon - Viney
  3. Luke Rounds is surpringing. I thought he had a very bight future.
  4. I see more similarities with Pendlebury than Goodes. Pendlebury is an ex basketballer who is tall for a midfielder, has excellent lateral movement, quick hands, excellent disposal and bring others into the game. Watts has all of this. Perhaps we should be grooming him as a midfielder?
  5. Does anyone know what other regular players could qualify for selection? Is Howe or Nicholson eligible? Presumably Magner is too old.
  6. Interesting to see what players these picks would have resulted in us getting in 2007. Picks 8, 9, 12, 26 - Lachlan Henderson (Viney), Ben McEvoy, Cyril Rioli, Marlon Motlop Picks 3, 4, 12, 22 - Masten (Viney), Callen Ward, Cyril Rioli, Scott Selwood Picks 1, 2, 12, 20 - Kreuzer, Cotchin, Cyril Rioli, Tony Notte (Viney)
  7. I'm fascinated by the universal dislike towards the bugler. Is the reason everyone hates him because he is reinforcing a stereotype we supporters don't like or identify with? That is certainly the reason I don't like him.
  8. I don't like him either. It doesn't sound like he has much support.
  9. One of our most successful sponsorships to date, Kaspersky, was spawned from a passionate Melbourne supporter who took the initiative to approach his employer about a sponsorship opportunity that would benefit both his company and his club. There are about 2,500 Demonland members who read this site and many of these would either work for or have associations with organisations that could potentially be interested in sponsorship opportunities with our club. I wonder how many sponsorship leads Demonlanders could generate for the club, large or small, through taking a well reasoned business proposition to the right people within their organisation. Although much of our publicity of late has not been positive we still offer sponsors brand exposure to millions of consumers as a member of this countries most popular sporting competition. Timing is everything in business and right now there is a unique opportunity for the Dees to canvass new organisations outside the normal cycle with no competition from other clubs who all currently have sponsorship deals secured. Thoughts?
  10. I will be disgusted if the club does not cut ties with this company immediately.
  11. I'm surprised there has been little interest shown in wanting to better understand exactly what Aaron Davey's grievances are with the new coaching regime (if any). Most simply assume he does not like the tough stance / demanding work load but there could many other legitimate concerns he may have raised with the clubs best interest in mind. He has always come across as a grounded and responsible person and he has never done anything I can remember that would make me question his integrity or loyalty..
  12. We are smashing the contested possession stats... highest of any team for the round. Surely that gives us something to build from. http://m.news.com.au/AFL/fi994820.htm
  13. According to another chat room Bob Skilton wanted to go to Melbourne originally but we knocked him back like 3 times saying he wasnt good enough. Given we can't seem to fill a team of current players maybe we can squeeze him in the forward pocket with Kylie Minogue.
  14. Thanks for the responses to date. Appaently Lachlan Hansen and Nathan Buckly both supported the Dees also. Based on some quick research a couple of players suggested above appear to have supported other clubs. (Scarlett - Essendon, Deledio - Carlton, S.Johnson - Collingwood, Roughead - Bulldogs, Brown - Fitzroy, Goodes - Pies, Butcher - Saints) I have update our team with the other suggestions that I could confirm. (Could not find anything on Lake, Betts or Griffen.) We are still a players few short of a full team. ??? Dylan Grimes ??? Jack Grimes Lachlan Hansen Simon Buckley Cheynee Stiller Moloney Andrew Gaff ??? ??? Prestia ??? Franklin ??? Followers ??? Pendlebury Judd Coaches Director of coaching - David Parkin Coach - Nathan Buckley Assistant - Terry Wallace - Chris Heffernan
  15. The sentimentalist in me would like to see one game a year where current AFL listed players play for the team they grew up supporting. Given three elite players in Judd, Franklin and Pendlebury all apparently barracked for the Dees we'd have have the start of a very strong team, however i'm not aware of many more to select from. I've started a team below - can anyone help me complete it? ??? Dylan Grimes ??? Jack Grimes ??? Simon Buckley ??? Moloney Andrew Gaff ??? ??? ??? ??? Franklin ??? ??? Pendlebury Judd
  16. Daisycutter you may not win the argument but I wholeheartedly support your views on sportsmanship. That said, I was a big fan of Rod Grinter and Mark Jackson so that probably makes me a hypocrite!
  17. Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere but according to the link below from Kevin Sheehan the all time running vertical jump record from the national draft camp is 102cm by Nick Natanui and Jarrad Brennan. I think this is the same height Melbourne new recruit Jeremy Howe jumped in the Tasmanian state screenings this year. It is also interesting to see that Jack Watts holds the all time third fastest time for the 20 metre sprint and Jack Fitzpatrick the all time fourth fastest time for repeat sprints. Impressive. http://bit.ly/d8jFMN
  18. I just thought I'd summarise the suggestions provided by Demonlanders to date to resolve our apparent ruck deficiencies. Surely we can close this out properley and come up with suggestions from the remaining 4 teams! Also, I notice Paul Johnson is only one year or 26 games behind Jamar in development. In my opinion 12 months ago there was not much between them and now Jamar is an All Australian ruckman. Maybe he is also due for a breakout season? Adelaide - Shaun McKernan Brisbane - Mitch Clarke / Brennan Collingwood - Josh Fraser / Jack Anthony Carlton - Jacobs / Hampson Essendon - Fremantle - Geelong - Trent West / Tom Hawkins / Mark Blake Hawthorn - Melbourne North Melbourne - Hale Port Adelaide - Cameron Cloke Richmond - Vickery St Kilda - McEvoy Sydney - Western Bulldogs - Everitt / Minson West Coast - Cox / Quinten Lynch / Ben Mcinley Casey - Tim Mohr
  19. You put up a good argument Golf. What would you be prepared to give up for this mature bodied ruckman who may not play a senior game for the next two years? Would you give up Warnock as other are suggesting? If so, who then do we have as backup if Frawley / Rivers / Garland do their cruciate ligament?
  20. I find it interesting to read that a number of supporters believe we need to recruit a ready made backup ruckman to support Jamar. The message board is filled with suggestions like Cox, Blake, Hale etc. Why would we rob one of our up coming ruckman of valuable development gametime with a stopgap ruckman who will not be part of our next premierhip window? Like With James McDonald, I think we need to make room to allow new talent to step up. There is also a rumour that the luxury of a second may be a thing of the past with the AFL reducing the interchange bench to 3.
  21. I hope Michael Newton gets another opportunity to prove himself at a senior level this year as his performance today at Casey was very impressive. He has always has the talent but now also seems to have the work rate and physical maturity to match it. His vertical leap and second efforts have helped him develop into a handy ruckman making him a more versatile and mobile key position player. Let's not write off this much maligned player just yet - he may yet prove to have a future role in our club.
  22. Just back after watching the first half of the reserves. Blease had kicked two terrific goals on the run from 50 on an angle, and showed that he has blistering pace and sharp foot skills. As mentioned earlier, his three spearing kicks at pinpoint accuracy in one chain of play beginning in the back pocket was outstanding. Encouraging signs from both Tapscott and Martin as well.
  23. Blease kicks Caseys second goal and has been impressive in the first quarter. Fast and lazer like kicking.
  24. Final score Werribee 10.16.76 Casey 17.15.117 Juice BOG Wonna ans Strauss injured.
  25. Werribee 61 Casey 84
