  1. Andrew Ireland would have been a good candidate having overseen premierships at Brisbane and Sydney, but they have just extended his contract to 2016. May they'll accept a swap for Schwab!
  2. I also have a SC league with 6 spots to fill. 742159
  3. I have just joined 300697 and 337130. Thanks for setting these up.
  4. I am keen also. Scored just over 36,000 points last year.
  5. I went down for an hour and was surprised to see Dunn playing in Rivers old role as the loose man in defense. I would have expected Watts to be groomed for this role. Jetta stood out with his pace, attack and disposal and seems a ready replacement for Bartram. I really liked what I saw of Dawes. Although he doesn't mark everything he times his leads to perfection, does repeat running and controls the space in front of him better than most. He will bring others around him into the game and give confidence to our midfield when delivering into the forward line. Shannon Byrnes was shorter than I expected but impressed me with his positioning and read of the play. Finally I thought Garland looked in top shape. Physically he is much bigger and solid than I remember and with his pace brings valuable versatility to the team.
  6. TAB odds for the Dees to finish top 4 are now out to 101-1. Sure it's unlikely but stranger things have happened.
  7. Although dated, the following article puts these times into perspective. To have eight players run around Princess Park in under 10min 15 sec is pretty impressive when you think that Judd's best time was 10 min 33 sec and the course record 9 min 49 sec. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/teams/off-to-a-real-flyer/story-e6frf9k6-1111118110568
  8. Melbourne midfield confidence grows We will see a vastly improved midfield this year if all four of our midfield recruits, plus Rodan, are able to make an impact at senior level straight away.
  9. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2012-12-31/excat-gives-dees-new-ideas Good to hear he is bringing his experience and bonding well with the other forward line players.
  10. A few years ago a Korean tourist was saved from being mauled by a crocodile after he had gone swimming 10 metres away from a sign that said "Crocodiles Do Not Swim". When asked why he did it the tourist, who spoke English, said he thought it was safe because the sign said crocodiles do not swim!!! True story.
  11. Juzzo from Bigfooty has Melbourne selecting Ben Duscher with pick 18 in the rookie draft. He could be a handy pickup - captain of the Bendigo Bombers and highly regarded amongst many Bomber supporters. Ben Duscher © D.O.B: 29-09-1987 Height: 186 cm Weight: 83 kg Club Bendigo Football Club Originally from Mildura and then with the Bendigo Pioneers, Ben spent time under our current assistant coach Daniel Schmidt at Rochester where they shared a GVFL Premiership. Ben returned to Bendigo in 2010. He was rewarded for his strong showing with the Co-Captaincy in 2011 and lead 'from the front' which is his way. A strong midfielder who can be relied upon to go forward and find the goals. Appointed Co-Captain again in 2012. Winner of the 2011 Nick Carter Medal & Runner-up in 2012.
  12. Agreed. I would love to see Aliir Aliir at the Dees. Great story and the potential to be an x factor player. Cool name too. I could see this being a great way to promote the code in Kenya as it would create quite a lot of media there I would imagine.
  13. Thanks for everyone's answers. I get the sense that the top 10 were rated pretty evenly after Daniher, O'Meara and Whitfield. Interesting that Knightmare does not rank this years pick 2 and 3 (O'Rourke and Plowman) in his top 10.
  14. I am interested in an educated opinion on where Hogan, Toumpas and Viney would have been selected in this years draft if there were no father son selections or mini draft. I am aware Hogan and Martin were eligible due to their age, but it would be interesting to see what order the top 10 picks would have been had O'Meara, Crouch, Daniher, Viney, Martin and Hogan were all available for seletion. For what it is worth my guess is as follows: 1. GWS - Daniher 2. GC - O'Meara 3. Melbourne - Whitfield 4. Melbourne - Martin 5. WB - Crouch 6. WB - Plowman 7. PA - O'Rourke 8. Brisbane - Toumpas 9. Richmond - Hogan 10. Essendon - Viney
  15. Luke Rounds is surpringing. I thought he had a very bight future.
  16. I see more similarities with Pendlebury than Goodes. Pendlebury is an ex basketballer who is tall for a midfielder, has excellent lateral movement, quick hands, excellent disposal and bring others into the game. Watts has all of this. Perhaps we should be grooming him as a midfielder?
  17. Does anyone know what other regular players could qualify for selection? Is Howe or Nicholson eligible? Presumably Magner is too old.
  18. Interesting to see what players these picks would have resulted in us getting in 2007. Picks 8, 9, 12, 26 - Lachlan Henderson (Viney), Ben McEvoy, Cyril Rioli, Marlon Motlop Picks 3, 4, 12, 22 - Masten (Viney), Callen Ward, Cyril Rioli, Scott Selwood Picks 1, 2, 12, 20 - Kreuzer, Cotchin, Cyril Rioli, Tony Notte (Viney)
  19. I'm fascinated by the universal dislike towards the bugler. Is the reason everyone hates him because he is reinforcing a stereotype we supporters don't like or identify with? That is certainly the reason I don't like him.
  20. I don't like him either. It doesn't sound like he has much support.
  21. One of our most successful sponsorships to date, Kaspersky, was spawned from a passionate Melbourne supporter who took the initiative to approach his employer about a sponsorship opportunity that would benefit both his company and his club. There are about 2,500 Demonland members who read this site and many of these would either work for or have associations with organisations that could potentially be interested in sponsorship opportunities with our club. I wonder how many sponsorship leads Demonlanders could generate for the club, large or small, through taking a well reasoned business proposition to the right people within their organisation. Although much of our publicity of late has not been positive we still offer sponsors brand exposure to millions of consumers as a member of this countries most popular sporting competition. Timing is everything in business and right now there is a unique opportunity for the Dees to canvass new organisations outside the normal cycle with no competition from other clubs who all currently have sponsorship deals secured. Thoughts?
  22. I will be disgusted if the club does not cut ties with this company immediately.
  23. I'm surprised there has been little interest shown in wanting to better understand exactly what Aaron Davey's grievances are with the new coaching regime (if any). Most simply assume he does not like the tough stance / demanding work load but there could many other legitimate concerns he may have raised with the clubs best interest in mind. He has always come across as a grounded and responsible person and he has never done anything I can remember that would make me question his integrity or loyalty..
  24. We are smashing the contested possession stats... highest of any team for the round. Surely that gives us something to build from. http://m.news.com.au/AFL/fi994820.htm
  25. According to another chat room Bob Skilton wanted to go to Melbourne originally but we knocked him back like 3 times saying he wasnt good enough. Given we can't seem to fill a team of current players maybe we can squeeze him in the forward pocket with Kylie Minogue.
