  1. Successful in the GF ballot this year so ?? I find I use my MCC membership less and less as I am getting older (but I am retiring next year so maybe I will use it more). Lining up overnight to get decent walk up seats is getting less and less attractive for the GF if I donā€™t get a reserved seat in the ballot. Very expensive to keep and not keen on giving it up after 40 years. Glad I have my Trident membership as well because most of the people I go to the games with are not MCC members.
  2. I was eight years old and was sitting in the old southern stand with my eleven year old sister. Mum organised and paid for a cousin to take us to the game. Mum and my brother sat in the MCC members using ladies tickets. My brother chose the Deeā€™s and everyone else jumped on board. I can remember Ray Gabelich ā€œrunningā€ into goal with minutes to go to put the Pies in front as it was right under our seats. Then tears from a young boy that turned in to tears of joy when Ray ā€œfroggyā€ Crompton goaled for us in the dying seconds to win the game. We all still follow the Deeā€™s, Mum is 92. She raised 3 kids on her own after my useless womanising father left us When I was two. Thanks mum for saving and buying the tickets. Finances were always a struggle. Fingers crossed for another premiership VERY soon!
  3. The Hawthorn behaviour starts at the very top. I watched Clarksonā€™s post game presser. A poor loser indeed. Gave Melbourne credit but you could tell he didnā€™t mean it.

Better the hat than the team, sign of good luck against the Cats, ā€œtaking one for the teamā€ for Friday night. Birds have a cloaca so you get the Poo & Wee in the same s hit. ?

Melbourne is playing the Wee and Poo. Itā€™s an omen, it stays.

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2018-08-28/huge-demand-sees-ticketek-call-halt-to-sales Saying there will be staggered ticket sales. Staggeringly stupid not to have done it in the first place.

Common sense would have had Richmond v Hawthorn today all day for members and our game tomorrow and halve the traffic FFS, AFL & Ticketek you morons there is a week and a bit before the games. ?????????

  14. I just listened to the podcast and wanted to say thanks heaps to the team for securing an interview with Paul Roos. Few people could give supporters a better insight into the rebuild than he. My opinion of him as a football ā€œbrainā€ using his own term is ā€œeliteā€ few people would have the skill set to change the culture at the club than himself along with PJ. A massive task. To hear that he felt his greatest achievement was seeing all the kids wearing their Melbourne jumpers on Monday made him proud, put a lump in my throat. He gets football in a holistic way. Itā€™s not just about team itā€™s also about club. A guy I worked with prepared the game day drinks for the Swans players and told me that after their Premiership win in 2005, he took all the support staff out to the centre of the MCG with the premiership cup in hand, past it around and thanked them all while giving an inspirational talk about ā€œthis is what itā€™s all aboutā€ and how everyone played their part in the historic win. Not long after his tenure at the Deeā€™s was over he stated that he felt 2019 was the year he believed we should be seriously challenging for the cup. So while riding the bumps and dissapointments along the way I have kept this in mind. No pressure but, It would also be great to hear Peter Jackson talk about the administration side of the rebuild as well, once he has finished up and the dust has settled. Thanks again.
  15. Totally agree with this. But we should keep the home game next year then alternate the year after so we have one of the blockbuster games every season. (Anzac Eve) As was pointed out on another thread for financial reasons. BUT. We should demand the same arrangement for the Ponsford stand as Collingwood get on the away year. The crowd Monday was a statement that its time for the club to stop accepting deals that make us the poor second cousin.
  16. Thanks for putting up these articles. I would generally not see them otherwise. Excellent insight into Clarries draft selection. Always though Rooā€™s had input into it. Better keep Clarry away from my Parma night. https://yarravilleclub.com/dining-menus/ Disastrous for the verandah over the toy shop ?
  17. I remember him playing in the reserves also. Mum took us kids to every game and I remember her saying: he is so skinny and is wearing glasses, he will never make it. I very proudly said to her he will make a great player for Melbourne. (I went to school with Robbie.) My mother laughed at this. Mum always said that going to the footy in the late 70s and 80s was only make bearable because she could watch Robbie play. Little did we know that day that he would become a Legend.
