  1. The best bit was the coaching of Spencer, reminding him that once he has contested the tap he HAS to defend.....excellent all round....I am looking forward to Jonesy taking it up another level this year, no he will have some big bodied support
  2. I do get a bit peeved with posters who just rant and don't back up, so would you say Davey set the benchmark for the small fwd with his tackling, pressure etc, or are you not old enough to remember that..... and how do you know he is/was on 2million or do you just treat rumour as fact, I don't mind you raving at me, if you need that in your life to feel good about yourself...feel free... but you are going to espouse such rubbish, then expect to be challenged, if you don't like that don't post
  3. oh! one game, sorry thought you meant all the time, and again where do you get the $ figure from or have you seen his bank account?....I am all for giving guys a chance, if he doesn't manage to turn the injury and everything else around this year, do you really think he will be here next year....give it a rest and show some respect to a guy who redefined one part of the game...
  4. Re Spencer, it was already mentioned in the article on the Club website when Spencer signed his new contract that he was seen as part of the succession plan for Jamar and he will be 25 or 26 when Jamar reaches the end........or sooner. The fact that we now have a monster player who seems to be continually improving and developing will also ensure that Jamar plays at his abosolute best each week coz if he doesn't I am sure Neeld would have no hesitation in swapping him for Spencer
  5. I take it you are saying Davey does duck, is that correct? And your reasoning behind this bold sweeping statement is?
  6. Agree, you said it another way, if you pin the arms you also have the danger of hitting the head on the ground, I reckon this new way, the player will think preservation and try and get rid of the ball to make sure they land ok, hence my panicky handball, if we can follow through and land on them with the shoulder better still........being a fan of Nev Jetta since day 1 love to hear he is shining but I expected it, he loves the hard physical stuff just what Neeld is preaching
  7. So using your theory then both the Hawthorn and Essendon administration need investigating as well, as they keep resigning Max Bailey and Scott Gumbleton respectively........hindsight means that four years ago to sign Aaron Davey to a long term contract seemed a good thing taking into consideration where the Club was at at that moment, maybe WE think now it wasn't
  8. That was the plan for Jetta last year before he got hit with injury, (I know because I spoke to both him and Jade Rawlings, because of all the hard work both had put in last preseason and they were both [censored] off) it's his agility and fierce tackling they like, but they also know that in a pinch he would still be able to be thrust fwd in the small fwd role
  9. The tackling coach is John Muggleton, from the Melbourne Rebels Rugby team, been in the game for 30 years, both with League and Union, renowned tackler when he played league, I loved watching him last week and good to hear he is again pulling up the arm wavers, the technique I think he is teaching is to aim for the midriff and push upwards and back.......I reckon we will see lot's of panicky handballs from tacklees (if that is a word) assume plan will be to get second player to follow in
  10. Nice post Rhino, Davey is similar to Sylvia and all the guys on the list who have a signed one year contract. With Neeld if you don't perform you will be at Casey and out of the door at the end of the season. I just want Aaron to give it his best shot, and will support him whilst he does
  11. Yes I have and as per a lot of the indigenous players, looks like he is gliding rather than running, built like a stick, watched him do some kick and kick and again just a smooth action...and soft hands...could be anything, but can see with the raw material why Neeld seems so pleased to pick up with the Hogan deal...and of course he had a few kicks to goal, the effortless ones glided through, when he tried to blast it, it missed wildly.....as for work ethic he didn't seem to mind what he was told to you....could be a nice little x factor
  12. Just a note, if you get to training, speak to the guys at the end of their session, they are always open for a chat, that way you get past the [censored] and rumour.... they appreciate that you make the effort to get to training to watch....... my bit on Davey having watched three or four training sessions.....yes he is not moving like the player he was, but who knows, have seen him run laps without a problem then walk with a limp.......his kicking seems unhindered...would have thought that if there is no chance of him being anywhere near the team, they may have had a word and 'make' him retire.....can't see him wanting to play out his final year at Casey either....but his enthusiasm, experience, professionalism etc etc is priceless in a group setting.......
  13. Here is a go, if everybody is fit how about trying to fit 12 into Casey, if that is the figure for AFL payers in VFL sides this year, four lines of 3 each, and trying to use the new guys to get some games into them Davis Sellar Terlich Couch Spencer Kent Evans Tynan Taggert Hogan Fitzpatrick Barry
  14. I was speaking mainly from experience, joined the military at the same age and nearly died, body just ached for weeks.....through all the training and constant exercise.......impressed by his work ethic.....really showing the way
  15. This is what I have noticed and the kicking will get better and better, they run them really hard and then follow up with kicking, exactly what will happen in a game..you have to kick when you are stuffed and still be accurate...the fitter they get the better the kicking.....Viney is throwing himself in but the load on an 18 yr old body must be immense
  16. On the point of the NAB Cup whilst I think Neeld wouldn't mind winning it,I reckon for the first round were we play the two games I reckon we will see two completely different teams on the night...... 22 is too hard, still think Neeld wants to play mix and match, and looks at having at least 30 ready to go at any one time, if a side has a smallish defence go with the serious size we have now, or the speed or whatever........and nobody is safe, I reckon one bad game or not following instructions/game plan and it will be Casey the following week...bring it on......you can already see it at training they pick the guys vieing for a spot against another in the drills........
  17. Re the lifting in tackles, it they go backwards it is not a sling tackle, you will notice they are not slamming them into the ground, I reckon it is to make the ball carrier panic and try a risky handball or just drop it, it is also gettting used to hitting hard and low, no more arm waving or being brushed off As for Spencer, the Club has really high hopes for him, as you will have noticed he is enourmous and has so much upside, his running is streets ahead from last year and his kicking is getting better As for Joel Mac I was at training on Wednesday and he didn't miss a target in the same drill, so not sure why you say he can't kick (full stop), and it was really windy at Goschs on Wednesday
  18. Exactly
  19. Jack Trengove and Jack Grimes, they both look 'leaner' this year, and Trengove seems slightly taller, him and Jonesy have some serious competition in the running stakes now and finish at the back of their group in the gut running, but it is still the first group so the times are astounding....Grimes did not take part in the main activity,.....but didn't seem hampered, think with the injury issues he has had over the years assume he is on special program, same with Sylvia
  20. You will note that Evans along with quite a few players has been given a 1 yr contract, if his back, form, footy smarts etc don't match up then trade or goodbye next year......he was very positive when I spoke to him on Wednesday....just doesn't and isn't allowed to rush rehab....
  21. It is like trying to remember ....if you ask will try and answer on specific questions/players/etc
  22. If somebody can tell me how to post a pic here, not a link but to post, I can post one of the tackling pics....tried pasting but my wonderful computer laughed at me.........I am a real believer in the synopsis of the Terminator films
  23. I have been putting reports But this is what happened as far as I can remember Warm up Handball drill Tackling drill Bit more evasive work Gut running End to end in restricted area End to end on full pitch Warm down I have only spoken to Jesse Hogan once and walked away super impressed Having watched and played all three, with Rugby League (Storm) the days of one person tackling are long gone. Rebels Union, this still happens in broken play and would be more beneficial to AFL. Muggleton was actually showing them the technique on how to tackle, shoulders over feet etc. and if a player steps left (unless they are one of the freakishly talented indigenous players) will then go right, and vice versa, and even if they spin they will spin right....common sense but you do need to be told this. It was all good especially when he immediately stopped it if somebody went arm waving.
  24. It is a dying art in the modern age.....actually I think Jesse will be a cross between Paul and Hulk....crush opponents but make them laugh while he is doing it
  25. It is the attitude as well, although a lot of people are still naysaying and expect MFC to be a failure again, Neeld is picking kids like Jesse Hogan.....I said to him he would have some men looking for his head in the VFL......he looked straight at me and smiled....can't wait to see him play And spoke to Neil Craig.......he said the supporters deserve success and when it happens it will happen a lot, they are trying to build something....what has happened previously is not good enough One bit that did impress me was in the last of the gut runs,, the last group had guys who had already done the runs and should have been stuffed, running alongside them encouraging them to achieve a better time....and Nicho and Tommy Mc getting to every guy and congratulating them......I even applauded the finish between Nicho and Tommy Mc
