Training - Wednesday 14th November, 2012 Welcome Chris Dawes
hardtack replied to Demon Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So, sorry to go off topic, but does anyone have anything to report on how Dawes was looking at his first session with the club? -
Bartram's retirement has probably saved one of MacDonald/Sellar. I really hope they now sign Jetta.
-
Had a lot of time for Barts... shame to see him go, but I guess this explains why Gillies was signed up so quickly; plus that gives us the option of using another draft pick.

Maybe they thought the "G" in "MCG" stood for "Guantanamo"? -

No, due to the fact we was overseas on a holiday; a commitment he had prior to joining our club. -
He 'aint no work of art, but he's a bit of a Thinker... Rodan relishes new role at Demons http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/rodan-relishes-new-role-at-demons-20121109-292e9.html I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do for this club... he certainly seems to have the right attitude and looking at those images from Friday's training, he is one very solid unit who actually makes Tapscott look a little weedy. Also, I note that he refers to Pedersen as "Pedo", so does that make it (the nickname) official?
-
I agree... but there are others on the forms that won't see it like that, which was the point I was making.
-
Yes, that is the correct reason... but you should be aware that if a player says "no" to the MFC, then it will be viewed as an affront to the club and its supporters on the forums ;-)

I thought he looked a little like Jack Nance's character in David Lynch's Eraserhead (most unsettling movie ever made). -

I've actually wondered about that myself... sometimes it seems to be a fake account and at other times it seems it could be real. Confusing. But regardless, if nothing else, it will get WJ's excellent pieces more widely read. -

Wlison tweeted: "@demonland @whispering_jack @theage @CamSchwab the supposition of this attack is an offensive slur and I ask that it is withdrawn" Well done WJ... seems to have pushed a few buttons... CW can give, but she sure can't take. -
Is the the first of the mandatory off season posts?

It could be more of a grimace than a smile... note the red mark next to his mouth.

Brock McLean's real reasons for leaving the club.
hardtack replied to Demonic_Inferno's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is a theory or fact? If fact, where did it come from? -
I don't think so... I live in Sydney, and I don't see much of that resentment directed towards Melbourne Storm; in fact I think the general feeling was that it was good to seem them back doing well.

Brock McLean's real reasons for leaving the club.

I think you missed my point C&B... I consider the real culprits in this to be the On the Couch crew who managed to lead McLean up that path...unfortunately he wasn't smart enough to realise it until it was too late. What is currently happening to our club is almost entirely down to journos and their insatiable appetites for cheap sensationalism. -

Well, the humour bypass operation you had seems to have been a success. -

Yes McLean did the wrong thing (even though it was likely not intentional - he was led up that path by the On the Couch crew), but some of the comments in your post C&B, are as lacking in class as you claim him to be. I don't think it's just McLean who's harbouring resentment. -

I came into this expecting some great expose regarding McLean's departure, only to be disappointed... a simple "?" mark would have made all of the difference. And before you get upset over my pickiness, let me point out why grammar can be important; as an example, I will use capitalisation which can stop many potentially embarrassing situations... it could be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse." or "helping your uncle jack off a horse.". -

Don't know if this has already been posted (apologies if it has), but here's another article questioning the fact whether the MFC did actually break the rules (by Michael Burke of Victoria Uni News)... https://theconversat...the-rules-10519
