  1. Demonland confirms that following discussions, it has been agreed that Range Rover will explore Free Agency opportunities.

The forum would like to thank and acknowledge RR for his contributions over many seasons. Rangie won the Barry Prendergast Memorial Trophy, as Best in Hindsight in 2011, 2012 and 2008. His memorable contributions include: "Why oh why doesn't my Darling love me enough to come to Melbourne", "Poll: who needs to go" (in which the options were Watts or Predergast and RR did quite well in a late surge) , "Poll: Watts or Naitanui; did we get it wrong or did we just [censored] up big time" and the all-time favourite "Demonland posters are to accepting of my polls –no more excuses."

Melbourne coach Mark Neeld said, “We respect RR’s position, and the fact that he has been up front with us throughout the process, and his decision not to get on the reality bus or wear anything other than his rear view mirrored sunglasses. This is the new world of planning for the future - RR is a restricted past agent and the rules of the forum allow him to explore these opportunities and to poll everyone about them as well. We wish him well for the future past, which he loves to talk about so much.”

RR said, “I have enjoyed my time at Demonland, but it’s now time to pursue other opportunities including flirting with Bomberblitz which hasn't exploited the opportunities to demolish the weapon. I am grateful for everything the Club has given me other than Pick 1 in 2008, that disastrous pick 12 for a forward and frankly just about every other pick made in between. I have built great relationships with Melbourne's recruiting staff and I wish all involved the best for their past indiscretions because they will haunt them for the rest of their lives just like I will. I am planning a short break in Perth and Fiji before I decide my next move. ”

  2. has reached an agreement with freo and will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

    no chance

Is this an old post about Clark?

I would love to do that to them again. Simply put it would be negligent not to try for someone of his talent.

He is clearly unhappy at his current club and its time to go. We should go for it.

  3. All makes sense so we can expect to see one of our talls go in deal, maybe martin to Collinwood. Would we want dawes, is wellingham still unsigned?

I had Chapman in my starting line up on another thread and still think he is the sort of player Neeld is looking at.

I suspect we are going to be creative this year at who we pick up.

  4. Reported elsewhere that Neeld is holding meetings with players yesterday and this morning.

No doubt those discussions have led to the events we are seeing unfold.

I wish Moloney well he has been a fantastic player for the club who seems not to have gelled with the new regime better for all concerned to make the break.

Its obvious Neeld has a clear plan which will be make or break for him.

  5. Only the parties themselves know all of it, and dare I say only Jurrah and his confidents know ALL.

Sometimes it's quite reasonable to deduce things from what's presented. . As another alluded the term coined was the clubn will continue to offer 'persoanl' support. I too take that as differing form financial. I also see thi sas simply the club having some decency.

ive made no particular suggestion about specific words either way, what ive suggested is what I have written. That is, there are probably two simply avenues of approach , one would have see the MFC accomodate Liams wish to move on and facilitate a trade..This isnt happening. So i think its fair to say he hasnt gone down that path.

I call these others apologists as they are obviously sugar coating the circumstances of his going whilst ignoring the elephant. There were always two parties in this. The club and the player. In my opinion from what we currentlyhave before us I think he ( LJ) has done neither himslef and certainly not the club any favours. This despite all we ( MFC) have done to try and accomodate his 'unique' situation,

Its far more simple you have no facts and nothing can be deduduced and yet you are prepared to say Liam is dishonest based on your speculation.

Why not deduce that the parties spoke honestly and frankly to each other which in this situation is the more likely situation.

  6. He could have achieved all he wanted in respect to the above by being honest with the club, respectful of our understanding and preparedness to assist him ......

    .

Please enlighten everyone with your knowledge of the inner workings of the discussions between Liam and the club which show he was not honest with the club and disrespectful to it.

  7. What a lot of self centred nonsense is being written on this thread.

Any semblence of factual basis for criticising Liam or his "mentors" (why not be a man and say their names) is not even attempted because of course no one here actually knows the facts.

Instead what we get is the bismirching of Liam, his mentors and our own club offficials.

Just because the media got a whiff of the story and immediately published it and then Port stuck their hand up in the air does not mean Liam was not doing the right and decent thing by the club or vice versa. If anyone has a verifiable fact that shows otherwise they can present it and then state their opinion.

Here are some facts. Liam is in a terrible situation that few of us can understand. If you have been to a remote community you can just begin to get an idea.

Rudeboy (Bruce for those who have trouble using names) is a fine man who with his wife have treated Liam like a Son wanting only the best for him including providing encouragement for his career at Melbourne a team they have no affinity with. Rudeboy would be the first to admit he regrets some things that happened along the way but has had Liam's and our club's best interests at heart (not that he needed to).

Liam was no certainty to be recontracted at the club given his situation.

Our club could not pay his legal fees because the salary cap issue and so provided the best support it could and rightly and proudly continues to offer him personal support. I hope they continue to do so.

Hardtack is absolutely right when he says:

It's just a shame that a number of people on these forums cannot see beyond the MFC in this instance and instead turn to abusing him.

  8. As disappointed as anyone but this is about a young man's life in circumstances most of us cannot even imagine.

    I wish him well.

As for RR, what a disgrace.

The implied suggestion that Rude boy has plotted for Liam to be at Collingwood is just offensive and frankly RR should apologise.

Rudeboy has never let his allegiance to Collingwood stand before his allegiance to Liam. The MFC has been the beneficiary of Rudeboy's integrity.

  9. MM is going to take Carltank to the cleaners.

My guess would be he agreed with the Wobbles not to coach this year and has been paidout on the agreement.

That would last until the end of the season, let me see oh yes October. So he is not talking to anyone (officially) until then.

Meanwhile the Carlton who have not spoken to him and have nowhere else to go just have to sit a wait whilst MM works out just how big his paper bag will be.

They have not thought through just how much he will cost him directly and indirectly (arizona, facilities, new coaches, and players).

Eddie will slowly increase the pressure, first Judd, then MM is a stress ball, next shouldn't the tanking inquiry extend to Carltank, followed by they are asking all their mid tier players to take a haircut to fit more in the cap.All the defensive stuff he needs to do to spike Cloke and MM taking other wobbles assets.

In the words of paul Keating Eddie is looking forward to doing him slowly.

The upside for us is they need to clear the way for cloke someone has to go and that opens up the trade table a bit more.

  10. I watched as well and thought apart from his obvious unease at being in the spotlight he spoke very well.

He enjoys having a role up forward.

Some interesting comments on Jurrah who is obviously well liked in the club.

Clearly a recruiting success which bodes well for us going forward.

  11. What's professional about sacking a coach after one year?

You should go back to the very article you linked to, which puts forward the very opposite proposition to what you are, i.e.

"Geelong and Collingwood were rewarded for their faith in trying times. Kernahan should have stood by his man."

    Because in case we forget:

"Kevin Sheedy's last 15 years as a senior coach netted one flag. For Malthouse it's been one flag in 17 years."

As your man who knows his footy Robert Walls notes:

    "There's no coaching messiah."

    Stop looking for one.

This was the most important point of the article. Premierships take time to build no matter how good the coach.

Ratten clearly can coach but we have decided to go with someone else who has the energy and desire to build from the bottom up.

  12. This will get interesting:

Mick obviously under his seperation deal with the woods can't coach (or accept one) until October thus the I have left it to my Manager bull.

Cloke will suddenly become an enviromental ambassador.

Eddie will do all in his power to expose the real Carltank salary cap.

Kruezer cup will be added to the tanking investigation with the hope the fallout will reveal some new information.

  13. 1. It's just a poll question DL7. Not the end of the world if you don't like the result.

    2. I am very rarely ... very rarely ... wrong.

    Cheers,

    RR

    Or modest.

NN is in a team with alot more support.

JW is already a more rounded and consistent performer.

NN would have done a scully.

JW will be a legend of the club.

Everyone put s the 7 day glasses on with NN. He only ever performs when the rest of the team is performing which is damning of his ture footy ability. Blinkers off.

  14. Jones who showed that a bit of talent can be turned into a lot with hard work.

Watts, will be a game winner next year.

Clark who became the soul of the team in a few weeks and you guessed it "worked hard".

McDonald the man most likely to marry Neeld's daughter and become AA.

Blease realising he is a tank half full (and working on it) and playing to instructions.

Captain Jack both improving and especially Grimes staying on the park.

All this is very good news for the club.

    Add:

A coach who after a win takes the boys into a room to tell them what is unacceptable.

A fitness guru who will have had a second pre season.

Jurrah will return. Special mention to RudeBoy (a Collingwood supporter) who has done a lot for our club and genuinely hopes to see Liam in the Red and Blue next year.

Finally, we have 35,428 paid up supporters who believe the worm will turn and I hope every last one of them gets to see a Dees flag in a couple of short years.

    Cant wait!

  15. Nice team. Chapman to start in the pocket and doubt if Davey will stay.

    Robbie57, on 10 August 2012 - 10:01 AM, said:

This might be for a seperate thread but our Round 1 team next year may look like this:

    Strauss Frawley McDonald

    Tapscott Watts Garland

    Trengove Sylvia Boak

    Blease Clark Jurrah

    Howe Cloke Davey

    Jamar Jones Grimes

I/C: McKenzie, Viney, Chapman (or ?), Bail

    Emerg: Jetta Evans

Rather than say who is going I'd like to see who is coming and for what spot.

Boak and Cloke is very speculative but I figure in part Neeld has to work out what team he wants on the field and then work out how he gets it there.

    That determines who is leaving.

On the above team we need to get 2 mature Mids and one specialist key forward minimum.

We lose Moloney, Bate, Petterd at a minimium to achieve this (possibly Gysberts).
