  1. I highly doubt we will get Pick 33 for Martin, and trading him for Pick 53 isn't worth our while because it'll be like giving him away for nothing as I don't see us using that pick in the draft. He is probably worth smack bang in the middle of that at 43.. So, what do we do?

Throw in Pick 49 with Martin for their Pick 33. If they're not interested, they're not interested. We move on.

Hard to see the deal being done now they think they are in with a shot at Tippet. 53 too low and they think 33 too high.

  2. This is serious stuff...The Crows & Tippett are in steaming poop.

    As are his management company.

Worse the AFL will be horrified that the Tippet camp were thinking of going to the Supreme Court. That would be the nuclear option for the AFL who must know the whole system wont survive an action like that. For his management group to even threaten that is strange and wont win them any friends at the AFL.

Now the problem is if the deregister him he may well decide to go to court and say its a restraint of trade.

  3. This could present a pretty big problem for this trade period.

If the AFL does anything it may mean it wont allow a trade which "honours" the deal which means sydney may lose out. Indeed if that is the case and he has to go into the Draft I doubt the AFL will allow him to nominate terms of $1M as that would also reinforce the draft tampering. So he may be forced out for a year.

What will be interesting is the extent to which Sydney knew about this as well.

It may find itself without the forward it needed out of this draft.

You wouldn't want to do a trade just yet until the AFL tells you what the consequences of this is to the draft.

  4. I think Mooney is usually pretty thoughtful and his view is a valid one.

That said its not the only view.

I agree that it is really important we win a few more matches or we will lose players like frawley out of frustration.

What I like about our approach is its clear the FD has has some achievable objectives in mind and made it happen.

That gives supporters confidence but must give the players especially the new recruits some real belief that the FD has a clear achievable plan.

  5. Geelong have taken some risk here. Caddy is an unknown at this stage. If the other 2 old bodies hold up they will be servicable for the cats.

Their main problem is the team is aging and some of their wins in the last year were purely on muscle memory.

I doubt they will be top 4.

  6. Good luck to Riv. Would have liked him to have stayed on.

I agree is a curious choice as the Cats are not certain to stay up over the next 2 years.

Still the desire to play some finals must be very tempting.

Lets hope we are on the up next year or we will see more of the same.
