  1. I think he did too 'Jack', the worry is the rubbish that came out of King's mouth a bit later. Get in the game he say's or perish, we now have the US AFL. King is not overly intelligent and thinks clubs can bring in a boom recruit or 2 and win the title like they do in the US, I think it's more likely to be a US model with an EPL result where we will have a few clubs at the top and the rest providing limited competition.

At least in the EPL the season is always kept interesting as there are many prizes on offer, not jut the big one. You have the FA cup, whatever the other cup is called now, playing for a spot in Europe, promotion and relegation.

With our game a lot of clubs are out of the running before the season starts or at least within the first few rounds the rest are effectively dead rubbers. This can't continue.

We're not out of the woods yet by a long shot but you are right with St Kilda, things look very grim down there.

King was talking absolute nonsense. "dont complain just do a better deal" A bit hard to do when the AFL is giving the Swans an extra $1m to play with and they can offer immediate success.

Maybe he should offer to run Nth and find out what the real world is like.

  2. Makes me even more mad that the b$@#% wouldn't give us a priority pick.

You get Swans who've won two recent premierships and can still afford Tippett and (looks like) Franklin cos of their extra mill, Hawks, who've also won two flags with their PPs, Pies with Pendles and Swan, etc etc - all squealing that we don't 'deserve' a PP, even though we've won 5 games in 2 years and haven't won a flag for fifty.

Sorry if I'm straying off topic here. Just starting to feel this anger and hopelessness growing inside me.

    Equalization? HA! Pigs rectum.

Never seen my team win a flag. Kinda doubt whether I ever will.

It's a farce lower teams will lose their better players just as they need them.

  3. My neighbour who is well placed with the swans just told me he couldn't say anything on Saturday but he was told last week Buddy had already signed (apparently he signed last week, rules what rules?).

As I have said above equalisation is just a farce the AFL does not care about clubs like ours and they should just say so instead of pretending this is all for the good of the competition.

  4. Dear Mr Demetriou ,

The AFL equalisation dream is a buddy farce.

It is now clear the AFL is absolutely determined to give favoured nation status to certain clubs to the detriment of others.

Can you please pronounce equalisation dead and invite the also rans to abandon any hope of success under your administration.

Its the only decent thing to do.

Ps: Eddie, yourself and the others should refund the costs of the USA trip

  5. Mark Stevens (yes I know) tweeted saying that Matt White was seen entering the Melbourne office.

He would be derelict in not talking to us.

We will be aiming for a few fringe players Roos thinks he can mould and one good midfielder for pick 2 if it doesn't happen then we will go to the draft and bring in a couple of "old stagers" (chapman etc) for a year or so to help out.

I dont expect a lot of movement beyond that.

The most interesting rumour was Roos met with Silvagni, what does GWS have that we want and vice versa even if indirectly?

  6. Hey Rpfc

I get a bit confused by all this compensation FA stuff. You seem to have a pretty good grasp on it. Te general feeling I get is that it

hammers the smaller, weaker clubs. Is that right? The strong clubs get good players who want to see a premiership before they retire (Lake, Ball, Rivers etc) The smaller clubs get the cast-offs from the biggies (like we got Dawes)

Ie the whole thing is a blow against any sense of equality and yet another nail in our coffin

( I suppose the exception to the rule is the expansion clubs, who have squill ions to play with and can get money-hungry morons like Buddy and Scully?)

    You understand it perfectly.

  7. And yet every club goes feral about the possibility of us getting a priority pick this year, having been one of, if not the, worst performing club in the history of the game, on and off field, over the last 7 or so years.

This is BS. What's Tippett on?

As an aside, I'd take Hogan over Franklin.

    Equalisation is a myth.

Free agency is biassed towards the clubs in the premiership window and or with cash to splash.

The GC and GWS pick and AFL support tilts the playing field further.

Clubs like Sydney, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Geelong can just top up year on year with the better players from the bottom half of the ladder leaving for a crack at the premiership.

Trips to the US are just used for the powerful clubs to get into the ear of the AFL not to effect any real change.

  8. I think there are a few of us actually AD... I'm pretty sure that Ron Burgundy and possibly Sue(?) are both up here as well as well as some others. Where in Sydney are you (I'm in Dulwich Hill)?

    Plus one.

now back on shaw its clear we think only 3 or 4 players are worth anything like pick 2 so its not shaw.

  9. You can tell the season is over when the "real" journalists to on holidays, and you have clowns like Jay Clark trying to convince us that the dees are offering pick 2 for Heath Shaw.

    Sure thing Jay.

Is that after we secure Jake King with Nathan Jones?

Heath shaw who the pies don't want plus pick 10 for pick 2 when we want mids.

Smacks to me the pies can't get Adams over the line on a trade.

  10. Are you suggesting that the two out of bounds on the full by Fyfe followed by a point from three gettable set shots early in the game might not have altered the outcome for Freo? I cannot see that observation is any where near as moronic as bringing back Bennell.

because up to that point he was about 90% on set shots over the season and despite those kicks was with Mundy their best player on the day.

  11. Not knocking your source or rumour but I still can't believe that one. Some would argue Rockliff is their best player and the Lions won't just let him go, even if he has "agreed to terms" with our club. Don't see it happening.

Contracted to 2014 as well so it would be a high pick to get him.

  12. Is this a statement of fact or a rumour that's on Demonland so people just choose to believe it?

I'm pleased to see the suggestion that Watts will play midfield. He has deficiencies in his game which would be apparent wherever he's played, but all those weaknesses are rectifiable. If he gets it right, he could be one of the most damaging midfielders in the game.

He has now stated his desire to get his hands on the ball more often, Goodes is a role mdel for him in years to come.

  13. Well my Girfriend is a One Eyed Swans supporter.

yeah i know i know... its just nice to see the smile on her face when she yells "Ball" when someone handpasses. But i suppose she likes the pretty colours and loud noises..

Anyway i will be signing her up for a membership this year. She loves Roos and its the first step in converting her into the Melbourne Family..

My partner was a St Kilda supporter but I kept taking her to a mates to watch each game and she eventually just kept referring to our boys.

I then signed her up with no objection.
