I'd go so far as to say Fitzy's field kicking is at least on par with Gawn's now. He's noticably improved this season. I'm not sure what deems Gawn to be a good kick and Fitzy not. Spencil remains an ordinary kick and I can't see that changing dramatically, but he's improved.

I get what you're saying but it doesn't excuse him AT ALL imo. Whether or not he can make a difference to the play is neither here no there. Why do players put in clearly futile chases? Demonstration of effort to their teammates. And in most situations, it is application of pressure, no matter how futile, that leads to opposition mistakes.

I think we should try and keep Dawes out of the ruck as well, as much as possible. Let's learn from Collingwood's mistake.

Given we are talking about a player with serial foot injuries, reducing his ruck duties as much as humanly possible is a bit of a no brainer isn't it? Especially considering the options we have in that department. Keep him at FF, Fitz to do the relieving ruck duties.

Funny you say that. I noticed him trying to give his teammates a rev up at the breaks. Judging by their body language, none of them were the least bit interested in what he had to say. No eye contact whatsoever. The cynic in me thought it looked like a guy trying to show he is still a team man. I wasn't buying it, and neither it seemed were his colleagues.

Well earned. Gotta feel for him having dreamed of playing for the MFC and walking into this third world [censored] storm. But he seems as well equipped as anyone to help steer the way out. It is both an indictment on the club and a credit to him that a first year player can easily be in the club's top 3-4 players, not just in terms of potential but contribution on the field as well. All those kids with number 4 on the back should be trading them in for a number 7. If there is any future to this club, he's it.
