Not about the issue of him potentially going, about the fact he is stalling talks. Of course it's not ideal but it's perfectly understandable. Anyway, going round in circles here.
-
You are still missing the point. He is doing what any logical person in the same situation would do. It is not cause for blowing your lid.
-
If I was to make a tip I don't think he'll go either. But he will be in very high demand and some tempting offers will be waved in front of him.
-
I should emphasise that I'm very much hoping he stays and I don't underestimate his value. Fullbacks like Chip don't come along all the time. I do however think it will take significant improvement for him to stay, and I can understand why.
-
So just to confirm, you offer no emotional attachment to the players, you just expect results, but Frawley is not entitled to the same right to make decisions without emotion? Finals and success is what players want. He is one player. He can't produce finals footy on his own. If the team is incapable of that, he will have put in 7 good years trying to get them to that point, and would be well within his rights to go elsewhere where that is a reality.
-
So Frawley hasn't worked hard? Where's your evidence? They're not trained monkeys, they're humans. Staying motivated in that environment would have been a struggle for anyone. You can stamp your feet and sound as ruthless as you like, but your view seems completely detached from that fact.
-
WYL, you are dwelling upon something that is part and parcel of professional sport. If you're trying to argue that Frawley hasn't earned his keep in relation to other players, then that is a separate point. Bleating on about them being paid well is a tired point. As I have already said, for alot of these guys they are going to have to make the money from their football careers go the distance and then some. To say you have no sympathy for the players because of what they get paid is pretty churlish and petty in my opinion. Everyone at the club is unhappy about the last few years, I dare say none moreso than the players, and Frawley would be near the top of that list.
-
Granted, but I was responding to this: That line doesn't wash with me. That was my point. The rest wasn't directed at you specifically.
-
tasman, top notch mate. Rog, thanks for passing on but it would appear your middle man duties are over.
-
wyl, why does it always come back to "they get paid well"? So what? Whatever he gets paid now is going to have to last him into his years after football. It's a throwaway line. He's still human and footy is his life. Why does he not deserve a degree of sympathy for the dross of the shambolic last few years? The bulk of his career has been played in a team that has been smashed from pillar to post. And he's actually someone who could walk into any club. You can see each week how much it has rocked him. And now, after years of service with weekly beltings, he wants to be certain the club is on an upward curve before committing. And some are calling for him to be dropped to reserves? Seriously?
-
If there is actual sign of the tide having turned in terms of on field results, he'll stay. If not, he'll go. He can't afford to wait any longer and thus is putting talks on hold. No-one in their right mind would deny him that.

I'll be down again. Dom Barrygnon FC.

Worth every penny.

An(other) embarrassing display from Tony to be honest. He really isn't a leader's back passage. Even his mentor would've shifted uncomfortably listening to that. Good on Malcolm for putting the turnip in his place. The wrong man is in the top job. Hopefully the Libs figure that out soon, for the good of everyone.

Good to see Abbott airing his concerns through a channel of utmost journalistic integrity like the Ray Hadlee program. Reading his comments, I was wondering if Robbie had become Tony's new speech writer.

MFC Captaincy Announcement at 2.45pm Wednesday
P-man replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
Of all the things Neeld did, that was one I was particularly critical of. If the coach can't take responsibility for picking the damn captain, something's amiss. His responses when questioned on it were farcical. Anyhow, don't want to tread over old ground. The club isn't putting a foot wrong of late and today is no exception. -

Nothing about what he has said or done since joining the club indicates that. Unless he's a mate of yours and has told you this himself, I'm calling [censored].- 143 replies

Excellent choices. Well done. Dawes missing out is maybe the only surprise, but not a big one. -

It's HH, so it's entirely possible that he's serious. -

Brilliant Loved the image of Jonesy slapping down the newcomer. -
I can recognise the work he has done outside of football being worthy of recognition, however with the enormous profile our sportspeople get, my preference would be to see someone outside of the limelight get the nod. On that incident, I'm split. Whilst his emotions would have been high given the context of the day, and his reaction was instinctual and understandable, I would hope he would have some regret himself given the offender was a 13 year old child who did not grasp the connotations or potential impact of her words. It did bring to the surface an issue that needs attention, but taking the emotion out of it, he ended up looking a bit foolish.

All sounding very positive. This is easily the most serious I've seen you BBO. It's weird. But cheers for the updates.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN SALEM
P-man replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
*Tyson + Salem vs Kelly/Aish/Billings + Pick 20 Happy with the trade, but it wasn't exactly the 2 for 1 steal that is often touted. Can still get value at that pick. -

Your insights into training and conversations with players are rightly valued, and if you are not repeating to players what is said on here, then I withdraw that comment. If you can park the pettiness, as you say you're doing, I will have no criticism of you (other than your crap jokes, but no-one's perfect are they mate?) Back on topic.
