  1. I don't think it was having "a" drink, it was having "many" drinks and not catching his scheduled flight back to melbourne the following morning. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...4-19742,00.html
  2. DemonDave, on behalf of all the other people who haven't posted yet, we understood you. We also apologise for the lack of understanding shown by those not fluent in sarcasm...
  3. I'm sure Fremantle will take him.
  4. Just found out that my work gets its email through Telstra. I can watch the bigpond stuff on my work computer whenever I like!!! Ohhhhh yeah!
  5. If you know anyone with Fox Sports HD it's on about 15 times this week. Otherwise you are waiting until Wednesday afternoon at 12.30pm on Fox Sports 1
  6. Des Headland won a flag, so did Drew Banfield. That's two.
  7. Seriously, Anne Hathaway was in the magazine and I reckon she's hot, so I looked for the mag!
  8. G'day. I've just returned from breakfast at a local cafe before heading to the G where I enjoyed a very nice spanish omelette and coffee while reading the paper. That's not the important part! There's a profile of Addam Maric in the kids section of the Herald Sun - i was flipping through the section to find the magazine in the middle and was glad I did! Nothing earth shattering in the profile (except maybe that Yze is the best Demon he's ever seen) but good to see a bit of extra exposure for the Dees!! Have a look if you have a copy. Now for a bit of Sunday Footy Show before going to the MCG.
  9. Wouldn't cousins already have been snapped up in the normal draft? Or is he prevented from nominating?
  10. Awesome. And then we will probably trade him and pick 1 for Judd.
  11. When they fell apart against Hawthorn there was no mention of shinboner spirit. It only gets mentioned when they win. That's it.
  12. I missed the half time interview - did they say anything about the casey alliance?
  13. A flag. (nobody said I had to be realistic with my answer - i'm just saying that's what I want)
  14. Just because you touch the ball less than 10 times doens't mean you don't make an impact. Melbourne v Carlton, round 4 this year. B. Fevola. 7 kicks, 2 handballs. Total, 9 disposals. 7 goals. Likely to get brownlow votes (check this space in September!) The argument that getting less than 10 touches makes you a crap player is therefore not lay-down-misere compelling. Sure, Brad will have had games where he's got less than 10 touches and been crap on that day. So will many players. But possessions are not the be all and end all. Just ask Joel Bowden. It's what you do with them and the other little things you do around the ground to back that up. I need to hear more than 'he gets less than 10 touches a game' to justify your criticism. I'd suggest if you're looking for a game breaker Miller is not your guy. If you're looking for someone who puts in a 100% effort, shows leadership and attack on the ball, Miller should be first picked. It wouldn't surprise me if those criteria are pretty high up on Bailey's list - that's why Bailey would have been very disappointed by his suspension but also why he brought him straight back into the team when he was available.
  15. Fair to say the full media blackout failed miserably with the number of phone calls and texts I got at around 5pm telling me something had gone horribly... right!
  16. I like the idea of our club getting its hands on a very marketable player to draw some people through the gates in the short term. Naitanui certainly fits that bill. Davey did it for a while there. But that's all short term. MFC seems to have a "messiah" complex - we're always waiting for our hero. We had Robbie F leading the team, then even after the merger we threw all our eggs in the Joe basket, we begged for Juddy to come home, and now we're waiting on a number 1 pick to lead our charge up the ladder. Problem is individuals don't matter if they are just individuals - it's a team game. Our drafting and preparation should occur with a "whole team" viewpoint. If we score Warnock in the PSD (and if we have pick 1 in the PSD we'll know this well in advance) then we will have another ruckman to join PJ and Russian in the ranks when Whitey retires. Isn't Meesen a Ruckman too? Then I wonder whether we will desperately need a player like Naitanui. I haven't seen either Naitanui or Rich play, but I gather from what I have read that a player like Rich will be useful no matter what the circumstances. I think the most important point made earlier in this thread is that gun midfielders are nearly exclusively top 10 picks. Simon Blacks occasionally slip through the net and get picked up in the 30s but it's very, very rare. Good ruckmen are rookie listed or get picked up late. How many good ruckmen have been drafted top ten recently? I can't think of any off the top of my head. I don't count Kosi or Fraser. Brad Ottens was pick 2 in 97 and his best season was 2007. Justin Longmuir was pick 2 for Freo in 98 and is still not as good as the bloke they got as a rookie. Hamish Macintosh was pick 9 and Laycock pick 10 in '02. Kepler Bradley was pick 6 in 03 and look where he is now. John Meesen was pick 8 in '04. Pat Ryder was pick 7 in 05. I think most people acknowledge Cox and Sandilands as the best rucks getting around and they were both rookies. Also, all these people expecting immediate results from Naitanui are dreaming. It took 5 years for Macintosh to play a good season. Everything I read written in WA says Rich over Naitanui. They watch them every week so I imagine our WA recruiters will have a similar view. I'd pick Rich.
  17. If it makes you feel any better, there's probably a lot of Demons fans in Victoria who won't watch either...
  18. Can't be there and will be on full media blackout until the 7.30pm Fox Sports replay of the game.
  19. To forest85 and Dee-luded - i don't get it either - but there's definitely no "half points" which is why i think they chose it - kinda like they do with betting margins etc.
  20. 16.5 was chosen so that you would definitely be either over or under it and not equal, which would cause further arguments.
  21. ...and soon it will be 14 sides...
  22. Surely Holland will get a crack this week up forward. He is in form if 4 goals in the VFL are anything to go by and he has played some great matches against Freo. We don't have any other tall forwards warranting selection at the moment.
  23. Anzac Day clash is a big marketing con I don't know about you guys but the advertising and comments about this game are really beginning to make me sick. I think this Kangas fan on the Herald-Sun website sums it up pretty well - it's a game of footy not a battle. Respect to the diggers - hope you all get to catch up with a heap of your mates tomorrow - but don't have to put up with footballers comparing their experience to yours.
