  1. Before I question our commitment to heritage etc all I want to know is - was it St.Kilda's choice or the AFL's choice that they wear that jumper. IF it does turn out it was the AFL's choice then it sets a dangerous precedent.
  2. I noticed that both St.Kilda AND Essendon both wore alternative jumpers in today's match. The saints wore predominantly white, and white shorts despite being the home team. Essendon wore their fat stripe jumper. Does anyone know why this occurred? Was it St.Kilda's choice or an AFL direction? The reason I ask is that I am concerned there's a risk the AFL will get us to wear something different for our home game against Essendon in July.
  3. It's not like we changed our jumper for commercial reasons - light blue M&Ms (Carlton) or Orange telephones (North). We've done it for a great cause.
  4. I distinctly remember that moment, thinking, "we've got a good one here".
  5. Attending the Essendon/Collingwood match gave me the same feeling as Melbourne matches last year. Essendon supporters were screaming "just kick it" but when they did it was a poor option.
  6. #4 Representing the great man - the Dutchman!
  7. Perhaps the club is including the first week of finals?
  8. Don't believe any article which makes reference to offers of the vice captaincy. The leadership group will be voted on again and if Ball's in, then he's in. It can't be offered. Schwabby refuted this suggestion on Twitter yesterday and I think Bailey did at a press conference too. So, if an article got this bit wrong, what else are they getting wrong?
  9. Are you suggesting that the agreement reached only two days ago is about to be reneged upon?
  10. My first thought exactly. They've got a year to become mainstays of the team or become mainstays of the news GC side.
  11. The times I've seen him at VFL level he hasn't been great, I wouldn't be that interested in a trade. However, I guess he has had some injury issues. With Rocca leaving I can't see Collingwood letting him go. If Rusling could stay on the park and not be injured he'd be ok for a late pick too.
  12. What category of membership do you need to get a text from Jimmy? I didn't get one...
  13. Scott Welsh has retired from the Bulldogs according to today's Herald Sun Edit: Here's a link to the story!
  14. The best ones are about Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Man U and Oasis breaking up.
  15. There's nothing wrong with opposition supporters posting here. Some of the best comments on this board have been from Ash34, an Essendon fan. And as much as I would like to spill beer on Old Xav, it's only because of his comment which was deliberately intended to fire us up - his comments about the youth of the Collingwood players are not far off the mark. We're not much younger...
  16. Ignoring the obvious flaws in this rumour, it must be said that any trade involving Dawes is destined for failure. Has not played well every time I've seen him in action. Usually is easily shut down by the opposition.
  17. HA! I hope you enjoy explaining to my Collingwood supporting mother who I'm bringing in on a visitor ticket why she isn't allowed to go to the game, then! I look forward to finding you in the FGS and "accidentally" spilling beer on you.
  18. Don't be so sure about that. The Australian Rugby Union are doing their absolute best to stuff this up at the moment!
  19. Seven. 2. Collingwood, 4. Richmond, 6. Geelong, 8. Bulldogs, 9. Hawthorn, 12. Essendon, 22. St.Kilda. Missed everything between Rounds 13-19 because I wasn't in the country. Missed R.1 North because I had grand prix tickets. Didn't travel interstate. Missed R.5 Adelaide due to sunday night sports commitments. Missed QB Collingwood and R.20 Fremantle due to family commitments. Couldn't be bothered going to R.21 Carlton because I didn't want to pay $ to the Blues.
  20. This was raised by Cameron Schwab earlier this year as our own version of Lexus/Waverley. We'd train once a week at Casey (as in the Agreement) but have our own centre where we'd train at all other times, and build a social club etc. This is why the Bubbledome agreement is on a rolling five year basis. In 5 years time the Docklands will be build and we'll be in. This is not a proposition for playing home games anywhere other than the G.
  21. I was a little embarrassed that St.Kilda won the game and yet our song played three times. I thought they were great in clapping off the Melbourne retirees.
  22. Just noticed in the club's email with this week's team that they've taken 25% off at the online shop - could be a good chance to pick up a bargain while supporting the club. MFC Online Megastore Just thought everyone might like to know! SB
  23. The Senate report you linked to was called for by Tasmanian senators as a way of campaigning for a Tasmanian team. The report ignores all of the reasons given by the AFL for it's decisions. Canberra is a very, very long way away from the Ovens and Murray. If Myrtleford (who can barely field a team) played against Canberra it would take five hours to get there. It's 3 hours from Wangaratta to finding a good parking spot at the MCG. Actually, it's probably less. None of the Ovens and Murray people would feel any connection to a Canberra team. The attendance at our game against the Swans this year demonstrates that Canberra has no interest in an AFL team. Now, before you say "well there would be no crowds in West Sydney either", the AFL is not basing this decision on crowds, it is doing it for growth of the game. The Canberra population is tiny, and will not grow. West Sydney's population is huge and continues to grow. You would start by budgeting for crowds of 10,000 and as the team builds success, those crowds will increase. Ron says the team needs to be well financed. The AFL will make sure that happens.
  24. I have that game on DVD at home - I'll have to watch it again (1pt win at KP) and let you know!
  25. Dees have committed to Bubbledome on a rolling 5 year basis so if something better comes up (e.g. Docklands) then we will be able to get out quickly. Learned this at a Mates of Melbourne/Future Fund function earlier this year.
