  1. Can't believe players like ANB and Hunt getting a free pass here. They were non-existent after quarter time. 7 and 9 possessions, and most of those were in the first quarter. OK, not helped by disposal coming forward, but they were poor for most of the match. Also, Jackson. He might as well not have played. He's a KPF/ruck, and took one mark? OK, young, OK great to blood him early, but there's a price to be paid, and we paid it. No accident that Pittonet and the other Carlton talls got on top. Also no accident that we then have to pull Petracca out of the middle to play deep forward to provide the target that Jackson didn't. The consequences of someone like Jackson going missing in action have a flow-on effect all through the team and the structure. Same with Rivers. OK again, great to see him out there, for a first gamer he was a revelation. But he also made at least a couple of stupid mistakes that cost us majorly - the kind of thing that if O'Mac had done them, there'd be burnings at the stake. You can forgive his inexperience, but that doesn't make the cost of those mistakes go away. I just don't know what people expect. You have players out there who are not performing/absent/making mistakes/missing, and you're all surprised that the other team managed to put together some kind of performance?
  2. Yes, and it let McKay really take us apart with his (checks notes) 6 possessions, zero goals, and 14 Supercoach points.
  3. Actually, bizarre error of judgement. They must have know what they were doing, and the consequences. Why would you?
  4. We have no one in the team that can cover him. (Which is why we went so hard on drafting him in the first place.)
  5. Clearly going for speed. Shorter quarters, faster footy?
  6. In the recent interview Chaplin explained the thinking behind having Smith as a (deep) back. I took out of it that until they're sure that his body is right, we won't be seeing him up forward.
  7. He also explained some of the reasoning behind playing him (deep) back.
  8. Let's just consider for a moment (work with me here) that players might be able to both speak well AND play well, just as they might be able to both speak badly AND play badly. Two ideas at once. Perhaps too radical for Demonland.
  9. Tomlinson speaks well. Impressive.
  10. Not to mention Brown and Jackson.
  11. So, no training being reported on then? That's 5 minutes I wouldn't mind having back.
  12. Not disagreeing, and yes we were close to full strength, but given how poor our I50's were in that match, we really missed these two.
  13. 2 of those we know about, hopefully AVB is working through it. But hopes for Kolodjashnij ever appearing again in a Melbourne guernsey would seem as remote as ever.
  14. The "basics", as you refer to them, will be the first to go. With reduced staff, do you think for one minute that they'll be looking at a specialist kicking or tackling coach? Though my main concern would be the off-field staff: physical preparation, weights, rehab, etc. Just watch the increase in injuries.
  15. Sure, but doesn't mean that you should just blindly go along with every hair-brained scheme that gets floated. In any case, last time I looked, the players were impacted by all this as much if not more than the rest of us. Hard to see how they're "immune" from what's going on.
  16. Of likely tourist centres, yes the Greeks have done really well. Also the Portuguese. But for the rest of us ... Though not sure I'd be citing anything from the Sun.
  17. Discussing. And what's being discussed is nothing like a return to normal, far from it. At the very least, international tourism, both inbound and outbound, will be curtailed if not closed. As for domestic, I'm in France, and the message here is don't even think about summer holidays for the moment, and even then, probably only locally (within 100 km). And that's just the summer - there's increasing awareness that even the 20-21 ski season which starts in December is looking dicey.
  18. I'm in France where all the public parks and walks have been closed because of this. Hard even to find somewhere to walk the dog.
  19. Reminds me of the Hendra Virus, passed from bats and fatal in humans that started in (checks notes) Brisbane. Adventurous eaters those Queenslanders.
  20. We could just cut the middle man here and go straight for human sacrifice.
  21. This is a real furphy. They are not gravely ill in the sense that they are about to die. Even with fairly serious lung disease, you can still have years of life ahead. As for the 99%, it's just a fabrication, there are plenty without comorbidities that are falling to Covid.
  22. Allowing an unstoppable virus like this to spread unchecked would also lead to the collapse of the economy.
