Nothing to do with moral police etc. etc. It's about being able to perform a physically demanding team sport at an elite level, week in, week out. Perhaps some here don't realise just how far these players and their bodies are pushed, physically (and mentally), and how close to the edge they are - and need to be. There is little/no margin. And it's not just about drugs/alcohol, it's about everything from diet to sleep to recovery etc. etc. If Harley can meet the requirements, great, get him. But you would want to do your homework.

He won't get that price, or anything near it. But, you would think he was gone.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
bing181 replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes you can - as will be reflected in the upcoming trade period. -
Bennell is probably neither of those, as Emma Quayle's piece alludes to.
-
Oh no, it's cryptic crosswords time. Always the same this time of year.
-
Not these days.

A player can/will never perform consistently on-field if his off-field life is a train-wreck.
-
If you're serious, mens' group near you? I'd look into it, can't hurt. Has been helpful/good/great for a couple of mates/family members.

Pedersen, Frost, Dawes all unavailable ... We've been trying Tommy Mac in the ruck, but he seems much better suited to his role up back, which he reverted to with some success yesterday. Which leaves ... Dunn.

Can't believe so few votes for Hogan. More than anyone else, he was the difference. Just having him there as a target changes how the mids play, and how the ball comes into the forward line. 6 Jones 5 Vince 4 Viney 3 Hogan 2 Gawn 1 Tommy Mac

If you were looking to make up a credible rumour, that would be pretty close to the mark.

Roos: ""Like a lot of players they tend to want to wait and see and work out what the market looks like," the coach said. "We obviously want players who want to be at the club ..." Given that, which i have to say I agree with, I suspect they'll let him walk.
-
Disposal lets him down, but he knows how to get it and what to do.
-
On the basis of today's performance, I'd add Harmes to that list.
-
Stretch and Salem are about the only 2 who you don't mind with ball in hand. Where it'll end up is a lottery with pretty much everyone else.
-
Our season in a nutshell.
-
Almost 2 goals, both from turnovers, kicks and handballs not reaching their intended targets.
-
Jack's been fine/improving in the second half of the year, and has started to look like a different player. Another pre-season with McCartney and Goodwin and who knows. He isn't the Nick Riewoldt Mark 2 that we'd hoped for, but he's handy with ball in hand - which is more can be said for a lot of our players. I'd take Watts over Howe or Grimes any day of the week. If he's part of a mega-trade, fine, but hard to see that trading him alone would gain us anything much.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 23
bing181 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would be public, surely. Odd though. -
Paul Roos heralds more onfield changes at Demons
bing181 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Trying and getting aren't the same thing. Fingers crossed, either of those would improve our midfield, perhaps considerably. -
Great to have this bloke (McCartney) at the club
bing181 replied to Chris's topic in Melbourne Demons
Then it has to happen off the field first. -
Well, it's the Toumpas thread, and not sure of Riley's current contract status, but I'd be surprised if we hang on to him (Riley that is).
-
Riley.
-
Confirmed.

And just see things in black and white.
