Pleased with this, both that he's been given another year, and that it's only a year. Gives players like King, Frost and Oscar Mac a bit of time to develop, and Pedersen showed that he could be useful.

Nah, not believable. Got to be a hairdresser in the chain somewhere for it to have any credibility.

Active? It's all just smoke and mirrors at the moment.

You're confusing a lack of respect with a lack of talent.

Probably means it's true.

Because he's reputed to be going to ... oh wait, he's not moving. How's that veil looking?

Seedsman?

750K a year? Heck, we can get Jake Melksham for half that.

North Melbourne and Richmond are offering Port Adelaide's Hamish Hartlett $750k a season over 5 years according to Tony Sheahan.

Greg Baume piece in the Age covers it well - though he's not Robinson Crusoe. "Boo-gans." Nice one Greg.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
bing181 replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given what we've experienced across this season (especially the latter part), I'd be making "competitive" the first requirement. No point being fast, skilful and blessed with a footy IQ if you only use it every other week, or 3 out of 4 quarters. -

It's the draft ... comes with the job, and it's the same for all clubs. -

Would be an improvement on our current fifth or sixth midfielder. Once again, I trust Goodwin and McCartney (and others at the club) on players they've worked with. -

This is very very different. WADA didn't take anyone to CAS for starters. I'll be very surprised if there are no penalties, but with the 6 months already served (provisional suspension), and a reduction for no significant fault, it could come down to 12 months or so to serve = 1 season (or even less, though hard to see how given the rules in place). Presumably that's being (or has been) weighed up. -

Given some that were on our list this season, not sure that that would be any different. -

Speculation. -
The coach isn't the only person involved in list management decisions.

Will be interesting to see if someone gives Fitzy a second crack. 1-2 year contract on minimum payments mightn't hurt, for a tall he's still comparatively young. Either that or he finds a home in the SANFL. -
They're obviously after an experienced coach, and if you rule out one of the four they already have (Neeld, Craig, Sheedy, Harvey), there aren't that many others. It might also be a recognition of the state of their list if the WADA bans hit, as they'll be left with a lot of younger players, McCartney's speciality. He's also worked there before, which would be a consideration, especially at Essendon. Nervous. Hope Worsfold takes it, one year with McCartney isn't enough.

Well, we all get feelings in our stomach from time to time, but they're usually related to food (or a lack thereof), rather than coaching appointments. Still, if it works for you ... -
Much of which, in the coaching department at least, seems to be coming from Melbourne: Craig, Neeld ... now McCartney
