  1. Any "established" player there who scored less than 100 and wasn't injured ... shaky ground. No hiding from the coaches/match committee.
  2. Worked out well for Hawthorn and Dayle Garlett. With Bennell, from everything that's been said, including from sympathetic scribes like Emma Quayle, the issues (problems) go a bit deeper than "a few off-field activities". As others have posted, happy to trust the club on this. But once again, for all his football prowess, the Suns have decided they'd be better off without him. That's a big call.
  3. Amazing player. Yet the Suns are moving him on. You'd want to be very sure of what you were doing.
  4. You have to establish the first part of your sentence before you get to the second part. Which you've failed to do.
  5. Well, he had won a couple of premierships with Hawthorn. New challenges, etc. etc., similar to Ablett. (Also, given recent news, getting away from the pressure cooker that is Melbourne for someone with Franklin's profile.)
  6. Wondering how long we can keep this thread going ... till next March?
  7. It's a question for the players, not Roos. As I posted previously here (sigh ...), do you seriously think that players like Hodge, Riewoldt or Selwood need their coach to get them "up" each week?
  8. Agree - but plenty of anaerobic intensity in the Tour de France. Just not continuously. (Also plenty of anaerobic in the flat stages ... watch the last 10 or 20 k of any flat stage, they're on the limit the whole time. Though you also have to take into account wind, and having been over a few of those flat stages, they ain't flat!)
  9. Nothing to do with moral police etc. etc. It's about being able to perform a physically demanding team sport at an elite level, week in, week out. Perhaps some here don't realise just how far these players and their bodies are pushed, physically (and mentally), and how close to the edge they are - and need to be. There is little/no margin. And it's not just about drugs/alcohol, it's about everything from diet to sleep to recovery etc. etc. If Harley can meet the requirements, great, get him. But you would want to do your homework.
  10. He won't get that price, or anything near it. But, you would think he was gone.
  11. Yes you can - as will be reflected in the upcoming trade period.
  12. Bennell is probably neither of those, as Emma Quayle's piece alludes to.
  13. Oh no, it's cryptic crosswords time. Always the same this time of year.
  14. A player can/will never perform consistently on-field if his off-field life is a train-wreck.
  15. If you're serious, mens' group near you? I'd look into it, can't hurt. Has been helpful/good/great for a couple of mates/family members.
  16. Pedersen, Frost, Dawes all unavailable ... We've been trying Tommy Mac in the ruck, but he seems much better suited to his role up back, which he reverted to with some success yesterday. Which leaves ... Dunn.
  17. Can't believe so few votes for Hogan. More than anyone else, he was the difference. Just having him there as a target changes how the mids play, and how the ball comes into the forward line. 6 Jones 5 Vince 4 Viney 3 Hogan 2 Gawn 1 Tommy Mac
  18. If you were looking to make up a credible rumour, that would be pretty close to the mark.
  19. Roos: ""Like a lot of players they tend to want to wait and see and work out what the market looks like," the coach said. "We obviously want players who want to be at the club ..." Given that, which i have to say I agree with, I suspect they'll let him walk.
  20. Disposal lets him down, but he knows how to get it and what to do.
  21. On the basis of today's performance, I'd add Harmes to that list.
  22. Stretch and Salem are about the only 2 who you don't mind with ball in hand. Where it'll end up is a lottery with pretty much everyone else.
  23. Almost 2 goals, both from turnovers, kicks and handballs not reaching their intended targets.
