  1. Did someone ninja edit the first post in this thread? ;o I'm sure it was originally just about Newton's injury...
  2. Yeah, that's what this thread is about. My happiness isn't impacted by what I see in your posts. That said, I wouldn't mind you qualifying your statement so I can understand what point you were attempting to communicate, given it appears it has little relevance with the OP.
  3. I reckon there are a bunch of simple 'KPIs' that UTAH could have been referring to, like tackling, contested possessions, clearances, etc. It might be that not all footballers are smart enough to understand the complexities of management process but most understand winning the footy at stoppages, tackling counts, etc.
  4. I doubt DB called a press conference to comment on this; I imagine it was part of his regular presser. In fact, I would have thought it'd be pretty weird to call a press conference to take a shot at Malthouse/Robinson.
  5. +Gawn -Newton (inj.) +Trengove -Jetta +Scully -Maric +Bartram -Evans/Bennell
  6. Wow, the ride never stops this season. To those taking a stab at the guy, I saw more decent efforts from Newton than I did from many of the other players vs Carlton (despite a few very obvious mistakes).
  7. It'll be a pretty different side for us: - Jamar (inj.) - Davey (inj.) - Garland (inj.) - Bartram (inj.) - Bruce (gone) - PJ (gone) - Cheney (gone) - Dunn? (omit?) Essendon.
  8. I didn't put any words in any mouths. You may have missed words like 'seems' and 'if' - important qualifiers, don't you think? You said that 'passion' can't be turned on and off like a switch. Who exactly are you asserting lacks passion for winning?
  9. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I don't mind it, but it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.
  10. IIRC he had a hot dog, but it was the fact he had chips too which nailed him.
  11. This thread is worse (better?) than the Buckley chips saga.
  12. The unstated premise seems to be that the players weren't trying to win. If that's the case, I wholeheartedly reject this suggestion.
  13. Apparently there's an ability to not receive 'that rubbish'.
  14. 'I did not have sexual relations with that coach'.
  15. Connolly has said that Scully is in line to play 75% of game time, so he won't play as the sub as he wouldn't necessarily get enough game time. Connolly asserted that mids normally only play 85% game time anyway.
  16. Trengove, Scully, Gawn, Howe, McDonald and Strauss seem the possible ins, while Dunn is an interesting case given he was probably on the verge of being dropped before he was rubbed out. Strauss sounds like he's a chance given that he gave good drive for Casey DB has pointed out our lack of foot skills out of defence, while someone (Jaded?) wrote that Bartram was out for four weeks. I think Jetta, Evans, Warnock, Petterd, Newton, Jurrah and perhaps Bate (although not according to the MFC.com.au player review) seem most at risk. I would have thought Nicholson would get another game, but it's plausible he could miss out since similar players might be coming into the side. It depends a bit on how many changes we want, and how many guys with 0-2 games we're prepared to play.
  17. +1. Anyone who expects we're going to hang the players out to dry on the MFC website has rocks in their head. No. In example: I honestly can't be bothered finding more.
  18. Even if you don't support DB's re-appointment as coach, I don't see how sacking him mid-season will help matters. Maybe you'll argue that we need to do so to get a decent new Coach, but will we really be left hanging if we wait until the end of the season? Maybe, but I'm not convinced of that.
  19. By golly, you're right! I was going to hold off on turning things around until later in the year, but since you've convinced me I'll press the 'win' button now. On a serious note, I'm a little tired of the pletohra of threads that seem to rely on the unstated assumption that if only we did X, whatever X is, we'd be a successful Club. We adopted a development route I approved, cutting senior players and turning over the list. We've ended up with an extremely young and inexperienced list bereft of senior players that can have a big impact on games. Furthermore, we've been cursed by the footy Gods and had almost half of our best side unavailable. I acknowledge that we weren't playing great footy before our spate of injuries but it was early days and we won't know what this season would have held without an injury crisis. That said, even if we were fit and playing decent footy we probably weren't going to win many more games because our list simply isn't good enough. The harsh reality is that there are always going to be winners and losers, and that right now there's no magic bullet. We might snag a win, but we should brace ourselves for further pain.
  20. Indeed. I'm not sure how many times posters here can have the same debates with the same people tossing out the same lines, but it seems to be at least 10 weeks' worth so far
  21. Here's another theory...since Scully hasn't been training or playing it's no surprise we don't have as many mentions of how well 'Sculldog' is going...
