  1. You're doing it wrong (or not at all?)
  2. Coming from the guy who, when labelling the posters here 'f***n retarded', referred to a post of mine because he misunderstood the phrase 'preaching to the choir' I love internet forums :D
  3. If fit, McLean and Bate would be great inclusions. Miller, Bizz, and Buckley are probably in the mix. Frawley (inj.) and Ferg are the two in the firing line for me. I thought Jamar was okay. I can't see us making more than two changes. It seems Moloney's still struggling though. I was at the game on Saturday, and didn't think Ferguson was very good. He did present well, but - unsurprisingly - got outmuscled frequently. It seems way too easy to push him over/out of the way, or apply some pressure and cause him to drop marks. As for changes, if Bate is fit he's the man to bring in. Holland can go back, and Bate can play up forward. I think we could stretch them if Holland played up forward. However, we'd probably struggle to cover Rocca. I imagine that whoever we'd use to play on Rocca if Holland wasn't there would otherwise be the #1 choice for Cloke. They have Clement and Presti, who'd probably take Robertson and Neitz respectively.
  4. Yeah - just like removing fringe 30+ players so you can bring in new blood and retain younger players who have the potential to improve and play for not 1-2 years but 10 years. However, after reading some posts on here it doesn't seem that it's so clear
  5. I think you're seeing what you want to see.

    BYRON PICKETT

It depends who else goes, but even if Pickett played another season decently I'm not sure what that would really achieve for us in the end. Considering we lack talls, a guy like Holland is probably more useful as a 30+ re-signing.
  7. What was this - Pickett a bit of a pool shark and showed a few guys how to pot some balls after the game? He played a decent game of footy, but it certainly wasn't 'a clinic' by any stretch. Why won't Bode make it? Simply because of his height, or have you seen him play at Sandy (despite being pretty dismissive of the idea of watching "the 2s" earlier in the thread)? Don't tell me you're basing it all on what you saw on Saturday night. Well said.
  8. Hehe. IMHO an extra decent pick would be worth more to us in the long run than winning just one more game. If we're going to win one more, I hope we win 2-3 of our remaining matches.
  9. I saw him come to the bench and he looked as if he was in a fair bit of pain. Didn't notice him struggling to get off until a few steps before the bench, but I may have been looking elsewhere. Seemed to be moving okay at the end of the game.
  10. I was sitting a few rows behind the bench, and up close he looks pretty much the same as he always does. On that note, it was interesting to compare Dunn and Bode to the more experienced guys - you can really notice the difference. I saw Ferguson compete in a few contests pretty close to the boundary, and I can't remember him winning any of them. Generally the WB player would apply some pressure and the best result was a couple going out of bounds when the opposition spoiled. Unfortunately they simply pushed Ferg out of the way a couple of times. I'm not saying he didn't win any tonight, but I didn't see any. ND summed it up pretty well when he said Ferg's too weak for the big guys, and too slow for the smalls. I did think he presented alright though, and he's apparently been in decent form for Sandringham up forward. I don't think he's up to AFL standard though. For those who might not have noticed, Robertson came to the bench in Q4 looking in a bit of pain and limping a little. However, he walked onto the ground at the end of the match, and looked okay by then. Unfortunately Frawley didn't even make it onto the ground after the game - he walked (on crutches) straight to the race after the final siren. He had the ankle iced and elevated as soon as he came off.
  11. These assessments in particular seem odd to me. As others have said, I thought Dunn had a good game. I also saw Newton do the team things on multiple occassions.
  12. Well said
  13. I glanced at the article on the way home from the game, and saw that Miller (CHB!) and Davey were named. TJ must have been the third.
  14. I agree with that. However, I also think that we were vastly over-rated coming into this season.
  15. Despite it being at TD, I'll be there.
  16. I'm pretty awesome kicking an oval shaped ball around in the MCG car park.
  17. I was at the game earlier in the season, and we did okay. It'd be nice to come away with the win this week (just one more) - I think we're a better chance than in most of the remaining games. Using your list, something like this: Then - Now Dunn - Robertson Bate - Newton PJ - Jamar Bruce - McLean Godfrey - Wheatley Rivers - Frawley Warnock - Ferguson Ward - Bode Miller - Holland Yze - Pickett Interesting that Holland, Pickett, Robertson, and Ferguson are playing while Bate (inj.), Dunn, Miller, and Warnock are out. On the flip side, Ward, Yze (inj), and Godfrey (inj) aren't playing, while Newton, Frawley, and Bode are.
  18. It's not easy when you're generally getting pumped, but I think Bell has done a very good job in defence this year.

Don't you think that the people who spend time posting on an MFC messageboard are likely to be the more passionate fans? You might be preaching to the Choir
  21. As Bode has been elevated, I believe MFC must offer him a contract for the next two years - 2008/09 seasons (or already has). That's based on reading about Warnock's elevation on here, so it may be wrong.

    Aker

Who's that one person? I hope you don't mean Akermanis. I've read the Akermanis article. Aker does not name anyone. From what I've heard, the story is that Aker spoke to ASADA or whoever, and the name was subsequently leaked. Akermanis would have to be a complete idiot to leak the name himself - he obviously spoke to legal eagles before the article was published. If someone was caught using EPO or the like, they wouldn't get a slap on the wrist, regardless of Club location. From what I know Cousins was never actually caught by the AFL, and there was also no insinuation that he was using 'performance-enhancing' substances. Unless you know something about how Ch. 7* got hold of the name, Akermanis didn't expose this player in a private manner. If it was a Melbourne player, I'd be even more indignant that Ch. 7* decided to air this specific allegation of drug cheating at XYZ without substantiating it. *I heard it was Ch 7 that originally mentioned Braun. If it wasn't, replace with whoever did
  23. My thoughts exactly.
  24. I don't know the rules too well, but I heard that we can have one third-year rookie on our list. If we could, I'd retain Neaves on the rookie list for another year and see how he develops.
