  1. There are 10 good reasons why anyone who thinks/says 'we should have picked Wines over Toumpas' is just plain wrong and stupid. I've been through it too many times though
  2. 1 - I am really sick of that too. It's football. Pretty much everyone on here has a more complicated job to get a handle of on a daily basis. 2 - Disagree on the grounds of sheer quantity - I look at our list and I see about 16 players I am happy to take into an AFL match with confidence - for the other 6 spots in the side I honestly think we have about 18 'could-be' type players competing for them. Some of them are brand new draftees and others are closer to veteran status. It gives me great confidence that at the end of the day we should be taking a highly competitive 22 into battle each week regardless of who those 'could-be' players are, the ones that outperform the others to earn their spots. It's going to be fascinating to see who is there at the end of year, I think we are in for some big surprises, and no doubt Roosy has some things in store with regard to players in roles we weren't expecting. Can't wait.
  3. My point also. I never mentioned Trengove/Grimes I am talking about just days ago when Roos + Co. opted NOT to put any young guns like Tyson/Viney/MCDonald in the LG For some reason some cant work out it is exactly the same as Port putting Wines in.
  4. Tyson is better than him and Viney nearly as good
  5. That's not quite the difference - we could have done this exact thing recently with Dom Tyson and/or Viney, we didn't, and everyone said it was a good move not to place unnecessary burden on our kids so if you WANT to, you can look at it like Port are making a mistake that we are wise enough to avoid or if you WANT to, you can beat yourself up some more over a stupid Toumpas-based discussion that is just wrong in ten different ways
  6. I thought we were in general agreement that giving leadership positions to kids is a strategy fraught with error, one that we have learned the hard way and have now opted to stay away from
  7. sooooooo somebody posted something about somebody involved in this discussion and all trace of it has disappeared as if it never happened god i HATE censorship
  8. Can someone explain to me exactly what PJ has done to be placed on a 90-metre pedestal by so many of you? It seems he had a big role in getting Roos, which seems like a step forward, though far far far from a done deal as we are still at the moment 17th on the ladder What other credits does have PJ have at the MFC thus far? I'm not bagging him at all, nor suggesting he be moved on, just seeking clarification of his godlike status
  9. hooray for instability, our old friend
  10. so you do in fact contend that McLean had the club's best interests in mind when he did what he did
  11. its already been discussed you must have missed it what the bloke did was a dog act if that dog act, in an unintended consequential way has end up bettering the club, is beside the point not that I, in any way, will ever agree that the club being dragged through a tanking scandal was ever nor will ever be a positive thing to happen to this club it's like thanking terrorists for 9-11 because now airplane travel is safer bizarre viewpoint
  12. lol thanks.. I was shirtfaced when I wrote it too hahah
  13. don't you get it? According to dazzle, the great Brock McLean is the architect of our revival - opening his mouth on TV was the first step in a genius chain of events leading to premiership #13 we should honour this club legend by putting him on the banner
  14. point taken, but i contend that Miller's 3 good games were cases of a blind sow finding an acorn (or wtf that expression is) but Sylvia's were the real player he was, obfuscated by the other 160 games where he just didnt give a stuff
  15. BS he did have games where he proved he was/couldvebeen a star, it was only about 3 times in 163 games. R9 2009, 37 disposals and 4 goals, just about the best game of any individual for that season (we still lost of course) http://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2009/101120090524.html ps: 3 out of 163, otherwise known as the brad miller ratio
  16. however you measure it (club BNFs, supercoach, brownlow etc) there are still more top10 picks amongst the best players in the comp than there are players taken in the 50s.. so it's not quite a lottery is it sure there are heaps in the 20s and 30s also but pound-for-pound the higher the pick the better the player (cue idiot that points out all the exceptions that prove the rule) people talk like you might as well just trade petracca and brayshaw up for a couple of picks in the 70s because it makes no difference
  17. who says we are celebrating? commiserating over another wasted high draft pick is more like it
  18. great pics 0-50 anyone know who is in the 4th and 6th photos?
  19. the reputation of NOT being known as a club that deliberately loses maybe you are correct in that the sh1tstorm he corrected ultimately ended up being a good thing for the club in some ways, but that doesn't change the fact that what he did was a complete dog act it's not like he was thinking 'i'm going to help melbourne out by forcing them to reassign their staff and admin positions' all he did was knife his teammates, coaches, the club itself and all of us
  20. saying he would be 3rd player picked is the crock
  21. Just the usual - he looks smooth and efficient but does not seem to stand out in any way. Very interested in his 2015
