  1. love this the first 5 to slide below us and we finish 12th on about 10 wins
  2. wtf why is Pederson vs Dawes some binary operation you would drop some other underperformer or inevitable injury, keep Pedo in and name Dawes also pretty simple
  3. some pubs/bars/clubs in the inner city you get charged $10 for a VB stubby that they probably purchase for $1 then you get a cab home for 15 minutes and it's upwards of $30 cost of living really is taking the pizz these days
  4. the price of petrol went down also.. never thought I'd see the day!
  5. This is what you said I've argued that from where we are coming from, certain losses should be regarded as a 'pass' - if it was a good performance against quality opposition If in a couple of years we are knocking on the door of the top4 I will agree with your statement above - but that is not the reality of the here and now
  6. Exactly - I don't understand this 'aiming for finals' idea. Of course we are, everyone is. You prepare each week for the side you are playing and hope to execute effectively on gameday. Then you do it again the next week. Agreed that everything that happened under Neeld and Bailey is completely irrelevant now. You are correct, this is year two under a new regime coming from the lowing depths. Roos made this very clear when he took the job.
  7. are you serious? I am directly quoting your post you have now just changed what you are saying from 'beating everyone' to 'finals' about 2 people have said 6, yes that is a fail, 8 is more realistic
  8. it's Dennis Pagan's line and he said 'with your sister' yep every year the wise heads around here tell me it's meaningless. We get spanked and funnily enough go on to get spanked in the season proper. any time a player fluffs his disposal and turns the ball it means something. It's the most important and meaningful thing there is. Training track, NAB or real thing.
  9. because to look at it so simplistically is weird and illogical and arbitrary
  10. I don't know what to say. You are stating with a straight face that you expect us to 'be beating everyone'. You are actually saying that the only thing you would be satisfied with in 2015 is to go the season undefeated. I would like to get home from work to find Olivia Munn and a bottle of Dom Perignon in my bed. It's not going to happen. As old dee reminded me recently, season 2013 was quite simply one of the worst seasons any club has ever produced. That was TWO years ago. If we are good enough this year to lose to the Hawks by a point, as an example of our hypothetical improvement, that should logically mean we will finish about 5th-6th at least. If that happens I will be doing friggin cartwheels. So will you, I don't know why you are putting up this charade TBH. I'm certainly not confident though. For 2015 or the future in general. In a few years cross, jamar, vince, lumumba, dunn, jones, garland and dawes will all be gone. Who is our next generation? Hogan, Viney and Tyson are the only three I can pencil in at this stage. Let's not even get into the fact that Roos has an agreement to just take his money and wish us luck at the end of 2016. Apparently I am the only Melbourne supporter that finds that strange and concerning.
  11. everything changes when real opposition pressure comes in. What worries me is that from what I've seen, we haven't exactly been flying with our skills in the preseason WITHOUT opposition pressure
  12. OK well let's see how many people agree with you if/when it happens. I'm tipping zero.
  13. The first was an absolute gimme The second was the only decent thing he did for the day I gather
  14. His first game back we beat Carlton, he had 8 touches for 2 goals, but just about every time he got involved assisted in a goal - including winning a contest at HFF and spearing it to Watts on the lead at FF. Hopefully Hogan will be on the end of some of that type of stuff. if CD can play 20 games like that it will be very valuable to the side.
  15. Let me get this straight: In R20 last year we lost to the Hawks by 50 pts at the G In R7 2015 we have the same assignment If we lose by a point, you will not consider that an improvement? Fascinated to hear your response
  16. disagree. If we lose narrowly to a top4 side I will be calling it a pass with flying colours, not a fail
  17. There's also the Russian, who is likely to spend a bit of time down there too. I don't mind this group when complimented with Garlett/Kent/JKH and possibly Watts and/or Howe, I think we have a good chance of getting an effective setup... it is certainly a huge improvement on what we had a couple of years ago.
  18. Being selected in 3 grand finals as a key forward qualifies as serious runs on the board. There's no getting around it. Yes, he is capable of it, so why would you suggest he be left out of the side? He is certainly a safer bet than Pedo or Fitzy (not that the three are mutually exclusive anyway)
  19. People have forgotten that in his first 5-6 games back from injury he was really important. He fell away along with most of the side in the second half of the year.
  20. Roos will pick him every single week as he should How many experienced key forwards with serious runs on the board and leadership responsibilities do we have That's right - one: C.Dawes
