  1. 1. No! Use the right option and back skill not corridor or wings 2. I swear the interchange bench impacts this. Players sneaky on or off 3. We do often, see point 2. 4. No!!! Back the jumper is a basic rule of football 5. Um yes that basic but you don't have time to set up triangles all over the field that's just about work rate and smarts and not getting sucked in to contests 6. We do practice a fair bit of goal kicking 7. I agree with this. The zone sucks 8.no!!! Of course hard and tough is important but until our recruiting becomes best available we won't get anywhere. It's about balance and patience with kids. Fix the guys drafted 08 to 2010 or 2011 first.
  2. Bail maybe. But you be nuts to get rid of Mckenzie who is one of only about 5 midfielders on our list to ever play a good game even if he is a midfielder
  3. i don't know about the 90's stuff but I agree with daniher. Travis Johnstone the perfect example amongst many. That said the list was way better then. What I'd give for young and talented Paul Johnson as a back up ruck when you see Spencer out there.
  4. Sometimes doing nothing is more efficient than the something Sylvia does. If Sylvia won the ball and ran like Matt Jones or Evans he'd be twice the player. In some ways he's trying. But he's still miles off his potential.
  5. This is bad news for our community development team, twitter team, matt burgon and staff, our casey manager, our whiteboard wednesday cleaner, our darwin ambassador and our craig's corner sound effect generator. The good news is that we should have a proper head of football (at the moment Mahoney is the paper pusher whilst Craig runs the drinks and Viney does something else etc), a proper list manager (Tim Harrington is shite) and some half decent coaches (be they senior or assistant).
  6. Would give my left nut for this bloke. Great recruiter, great straight up and down footy guy. The indigenous line was a mistake, but how it was handled by that clown Mifsdud was worse. Can't imagine Neville Jetta would be too upset if Rendall had an honest and frank chat to him. Davey will be gone. The problem is I still don't have a clue what on earth Viney and Craig do and if they have proper jobs. The main problem I have with our current department is that we have no obvious structure. Everything is a bit of this and a bit of that. Regardless of whether Neeld stays or goes the job descriptions and structure in the footy department need to be fixed and Rendall would be a great person to head that department.
  7. High impact? why cause Brennan is soft? He ended up on the bench and fine and I don't think he was really knocked out more just very sore Off the ball? No it was in play to stop the run. That's why he was using his arms as a blocking motion. Just didn't expect Brennan to try and duck under him. High contact, yes. Intentional? No. People don't hit people with strange two handed elbows to the side of the head. If he wanted to hit him he would've punched him. Reckless Dog act? Not really. When did this go so far from a mans game. Was it clean? No. Should be hung and quartered? No way! At the end of the day it was very silly. It reminds me a lot of the Kosi hit on Elliot. No way did Kosi mean to smash him. But everyone left right and centre was having a go at Kosi. 2-3 weeks is plenty. Think about Barry Hall getting 7 for punching a guy clean off the ball if you think this deserves 6. Also it certainly wasn't an action to line up and drill a guy to knock them out or attempt to break their necks.
  8. On Neeld I agree. Surely he has to realise staying aboard this ship is just screwing his future. Cut and deal now and his reputation might be good enough to get an assistant job pretty quickly. Blame the failure on the mess of the club. On McLardy, whilst I think he's been poor I will say he's a good person and volunteers his time to help the club. The line of candidate isn't that long. As president McLardy is the peoples representative. In some ways it's not about him negotiating his exit but every Melbourne supporter doing what they can to get the best possible board. Its oversimplifying but AFL club boards are no different to local footy boards in a lot of ways and supporters make the boards. I see the same thing with politics, the community at the moment are almost daring Gillard and Abbott in a race to the bottom. We can't afford that. We can't throw up an Abbott to fight against McLardy's Gillard. We all need to get involved and engaged in the process as members then we will continue to improve the board. Despite the on field mess our board (as a collective) can still take us forward. Based on recent history especially it could be worse!
  9. Yeah not exactly Neeld's fault but why play him if blind freddy can tell he'll never make it. Clisby looks a nice type for Casey could've got him on the main list maybe. But Jetta was available to play today and he does a lot of things Nicholson doesn't. Might not run as hard but that's about it.
  10. 1. Fumbles as always 2. Clear soft effort in the last quarter 3. Horrible disposal - Kent centred it to him nicely at one stage and he ran free through the middle of the ground and kicked it way past Howe 4. Can't defend to save himself. Despite all the speed in the world he gets turned around time and time again. No doubt he has fitness and speed to find the ball but if you can't defend or kick it's not worth it. Neeld realised this when he arrived at the club and trialled him forward. It's about time they go back to that plan because he couldn't be worse than Bail.
  11. Problem with that is you are effectively letting the other team have a loose man in the backline whilst we have Davey floating around and with Davey's lack of fitness he just won't hard enough to get enough ball to counter it. Especially against Richmond who are quick which takes away his weapon. I'd like to see him get more freedom to come up the ground but I think to be honest he's cooked as a player and we may as well continue with youth. Rotate Taggert, Toumpas and Kent all through the sub spot. All have skills and class just aren't physically ready for AFL. Now if he gets tagged the game becomes 17 on 17 which is why it kind of worked in 08/09 or whenever it was.
  12. why? He dropped one mark and had one goal kicked on him. Everything else including his disposal was fine. We need more players who get set a task and do it. Probably top 5 to 10 who played today and not at all the problem with this team.Same goes for Strauss. Maybe had a goal or two kicked on him but he got one back himself and won some contests down back. He also tried to run the ball. The run too far against him whilst close to 15 was a crazy decision in the scheme of the game
  13. Couldn't be worse than Neeld. Unfortunately the Collingwood off shoot coaches look like spuds compared to the Geelong ones. The guy I'd take from an inexperienced coach would be Sydney's (via stkilda and geelong Leigh Tudor). But mainly id go for an experienced coach.
  14. Colin Garland (the new vc) sums up this lot. Towelled by c brown early. No attack at all. Hospital handballs or receives stationary handballs. Surprisingly I wouldn't drop him because Nicholson must go and we need to keep players who can play but Garland stink up the first half every week before getting remotely interested in playing.
  15. Out: spencer (not worth developing), Nicholson (soft and unskilled), Bail (Vfl standard), Sylvia (susp), Davey, Kent (both not fit enough) In: Fitzy, Jetta, Blease, Magner, Toumpas, Taggert Fb: Garland Frawley Terlich Hb: Dunn Sellar Strauss C: Evans. Jones. Jones Hf: Howe. Dawes. Byrnes Ff: Blease. Fitzy. Tapscott Foll: Gawn. Mckenzie viney Int: jetta Magner Taggert S: Toumpas
  16. With the odd exception (see blicavs) he just picks the best footballers. Yes he picks guys with some speed and size but mainly it's the best footballer. Thurlow who debuted tonight had 45 touches against Vic Metro last year! Then he gets through to pick 16! Time and time again pick the best footballer, put them in the reserves then up to the seniors when they are ready and keep improving them.Lets just hope our new recruiters take notice. Look at height, speed and hardness to make sure they are up to AFL standard then after that purely pick the best footballer!
  17. Been extensively covered but the only people disagree are trotting out lines about which midfielder is he better than? Besides Jones the answer is he's no worse than the rest.
  18. if he comes in as a forward why didn't he or Pedersen play past week. I can't see the reasoning of going from zero key forwards to two all in one week. But mark Neeld and reasoning aren't really friends.Get Clark (back up ruck) and Hogan in and that forward line works. But currently that forward line is much too tall considering the 3 talls aren't really threats.
  19. Sellar can kick, Davis can't.Sellar is genuine key position size, Davis isn't quite. Sellar can back up ruck, Davis can't. Seriously I don't think we've given Sellar enough of a chance as a defender to prove himself. Give him a run there, the worst thing that happens is he struggles a bit then we can move him forward and sub out a ruck man at 3/4 time to bring Kent on.
  20. Mark Neeld in playing action now on fox footy along with Hinkey, Hird and Leigh Tudor (gun assistant). Worth watching to get a glimpse of Neeld the player
  21. Tapscott's booming drop punt hasn't hit a target since 2011 just for those who haven't been watching. Actually thats not fair he did kick a nice goal I think against GWS when he wheeled off the mark from 50 out. But he's butchered it more than he's used it well. Also astute watchers will notice he's averaged about 1-2 Centre bounces a game the last month
  22. Trengove played negating forward role last week and Tapscott played a small CHF role. So really Dawes plays CHF and Tapscott back to negating role and its a forward for a forward. The other change could be any of Davey (for or not for Kent), Sellar (for or not for Strauss) or Rodan. If Dunn tags he takes over Grimes' midfield spot. I don't think we have a particularly light on team for midfield numbers this week, we are just incredibly light on for midfield talent!
  23. His kicking is a bit up and under but almost every kick in that video goes exactly to the right spot for the forward to mark it. Obviously has to adjust that to AFL level but still look at the results form those kicks. And he burns a lot of those guys with pace in that video. Not everyone but you can't watch those highlights and say he was plodding.
  24. worse players have won premierships as back up tall defenders. Just don't think about trying to make him a forward. If he plays he's worth a chance
