Does the rise of McDonald spell the end for Rivers?
Dr. Mubutu replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
And yet you don't think Rivers shows the same spirit? I would like to refer you to his almost maniacal grin during the melee against Essendon. One of the highlights of the season, for sure. -
Does the rise of McDonald spell the end for Rivers?

If Rivers isn't playing in the red and blue next year, I'll deadset chuck a tanty. One of the most reliable senior players, and is very rarely beaten. Adds leadership and a calming influence I believe. A definite starter every time he's fit. -
List our current Top 10 on playing list (August 2012)
Dr. Mubutu replied to jurrahcane's topic in Melbourne Demons
Clark Frawley Grimes Howe Jones McKenzie Rivers Sylvia Trengove Watts Note that there are only 2-3 midfielders on that list. If we want to improve, that number has to bump up to 4-5. -
POLL: Are you happy for us to take Viney at pick 3?
Dr. Mubutu replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
GC don't need Grundy. GWS do. How many games has Josh Fraser played this year as compared to Dean Brogan? I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see GC swap pick 2 to GWS for Martin, given the Suns have Jaeger O'Meara to come on to their list next year, and they have to get rid of 2(?) plus the usual three players from their list. In saying that, it may be a game of 'who blinks first' between MFC and GWS, as Whitfield + Grundy is a combination that will have the management at GWS requiring a change of pants. -
Damn regulators policing the game out of existence

2 weeks ago..... those were the days. -
The player in question (Mattingley, I believe?) was dumped from the team, so probably a glimpse into the future.

How about a 'Yes, if no other option' option? -

Very punny....... -
But ask, and Mitch Clark shall provide! http://t.co/Z9TFsN2G

Watts is the more clear footballer, though, whereas Naitinui is an athlete. With many posters here bemoaning our drafting of athletes over footballers, why the problem when we plump for the kid who has the better football brain? Furthermore, I'd put forward that without Cox, Naitinui wouldn't be half the player he is now. Hopefully, with Clark now at the club, he can be our CHF, leaving Watts to use his skill to pinpoint passes onto his chest.

Melbourne: Delisted: K Lawrence? Or main list only?

We're gonna sign Jako again? I'd sign up for that war chest. I'll donate a pallet of VB tins.

Fang Island describe their music as 'everybody high-fiving everybody'. It's actually not too far off the mark. They've just released their sophomore album, 'Major'. This is the lead off single, 'Sisterly'. The single also includes an excellent remix of the song by 8-bit music pioneers, Anamanaguchi.

'Stinkfist' always reminds me of working in the pub. Without fail, it'd be played on the jukebox at least twice between 5 and 7 pm every Friday.

If that were the case, I'd consider it. However, I have my doubts on the depth of this draft beyond the mid-2nd round. If there were a team in the bottom 10 willing to part with a 2nd-rounder, I'd consider it, don't get me wrong. I just feel that there aren't many clubs who would be keen, mainly because he hasn't shown all that much. Maybe Richmond would be willing to trade for him? He does play well against them, and they seem to enjoy recruiting our rejects.......

The same article that has this picture: With the caption: Yeah, obviously that's a real representation of the game. I could perhaps suggest you do the same.

6 weeks ago, I would have been in full agreement (in fact, I probably posted as much, but I can't be arsed searching for it). However, I think I, along with many, didn't take into account the issues regarding his injuries whilst Neeld was trying to reprogram this list. With the amount of not-so talented deadwood on the list, I don't think we can realistically get rid of EVERY NQR on the list right now. There would be at least 7 players to go ahead of Sylvia, and quite frankly, I'd like to see what he has to offer with a decent midfield around him. As others have said, he is more the cherry than the cake. It'd be a folly to get rid of our cherry just because the cake is rancid.

Yes he was. This is the folly of only using stats and newspaper articles to back up an argument.

6 - Grimes 5 - Blease 4 - Spencer 3 - Jones 2 - Jetta 1 - Dunn

Or our injury list was unusually huge, and Gysberts was best-placed to fill the spot that created. Needs to have a massive preseason, but I tend to agree that the fact he's NOT playing this week isn't as big of a deal as some posters imagine.

Must be the Silly Season... now Dane Swan suspended for 2 wks
Dr. Mubutu replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The first, you'll have no arguments from me. Was a silly thing, and the AFL are right to be worried about this. But the second? Swan didn't do anything illegal. He broke a club rule, and was rightly punished by his CLUB. I fail to see how his actions reflect badly on the AFL. -
Dees holding Presser at 11:40am... what now?
Dr. Mubutu replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Please no. One of the few senior players on the list who have leadership and talent! Say it ain't so! -

It was a bit rich of the Age to say this: "His suspension adds to a bad week for the AFL." How exactly does it reflect badly on the AFL? A man in his 20's went to a pub and had some drinks. Big deal.
