POLL: Watts v Naitanui ... Did we get it right or wrong?
The Chazz replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
You suggest totally incorrect. You ask in the thread "Watts v Nik Nat...Did we get it right or wrong"? Personally, you can't answer that at this stage, come back when both players have retired. Then the poll question is "After 4 seasons, did we get it right or wrong"? Which the only way you can answer that is if you believe NN is ahead of Watts, then based on our options, then yes, we got it wrong. Fact is that I refused to answer either yes or no because while the poll question is straight forward, and I can answer that with a No, the big picture (which is how the thread title is worded), you can't answer that with a definitive yes or no. As a result, I sit on the fence. The fact that you are trying to force people one way or another is pathetic, childish posting/polling. -
POLL: Watts v Naitanui ... Did we get it right or wrong?

This is the point RR, and probably why Mods should close the thread (and allow The Poll Master © to recreate one). Thus far, NN is ahead of Watts. Does that mean we've made a mistake? What are we basing it on - how good player X's career is after 4 seasons compared to player Z? No-one will know until both players finish their careers and you can sit down and look at all factors. Totally misleading and inaccurate poll/thread that has it's own agenda, encourages unwarranted player criticism and will always ensure flaming and baiting within posters. Thread should be locked. -
POLL: Watts v Naitanui ... Did we get it right or wrong?

What do you want from the Watts supporters/believers RR? Are you getting a cyberection every time someone clicks the "Yes" option? For the record, I picked "Still Not Sure". Why? Because I can't honestly say if we made a mistake picking Jack over Nik Nat, it's as simple as that. At the moment, NN is ahead of Watts, not many (if any) are arguing that. It's the fact that at what stage can a definitive response be given? One thing I know for sure, is that giving it after their 4th season is totally wrong, and I think you are a fool for thinking that you can. The other reason why I selected what I did was because the thread title is a different question to what the poll is about. The thread title is quite clear, did we get it wrong. The poll question is also quite clear, after 4 years did we get it right or wrong. But having the 2 questions in the same thread and if you are realistic, you can't answer with any confidence to what you are asking, as it is totally confusing. -
POLL: Watts v Naitanui ... Did we get it right or wrong?

So what do we do Dr? Do we trade Jack, our number 1 pick from 2008, just because he isn't that crash and bash forward that we all wanted? Or, do we look at what he can do well and play him in areas that he will excel in? At the end of the day, he's on our list, is contracted (I think), has obvious talent. He is what he is, but correct, he isn't what all wanted him to be (me included). That doesn't mean I'm going to write him off. If he were to win a Brownlow or Norm Smith playing off the half back flank, I couldn't give a sh!t that he didn't kick 70 goals that year and taken an average of 10 contested marks a game. I want the coach to play him where he is going to be of value to the team, which is what he is doing. -
On The Couch lacks integrity, relevance

I don't want them to STFU until our players and the Club in general give them a reason to. Until then, it's play on for me. -
POLL: Watts v Naitanui ... Did we get it right or wrong?

That's Watts' problem - he's not playing in the ruck. Makes sense now. Hey Rangey, when are you going to do a poll on Jack Trengove vs Dustin Martin? -
Let's worry about getting our sh!t sorted and working before we go worrying about helping our interstate rivals, especially with their search for a new coach.
-
Good job Ben, let's focus on everything that Watts in not. Did he have a say in the type of player we hoped he would become? All he can do is play the roles he is told to play, lift the weights he is told to lift, and eat the sh!t that he is told to eat. He could do all that, and do it well, yet it STILL wouldn't satisfy you because he may not be the KPF that you wanted him to be. Get over it. Neeld will drop him if he thinks is form deserves it.

No reason why Liam can't use this preseason to prove a point. That's my opinion, but Tim Harrington may view things differently, as could Liam.

Nothing strange about it at all, but it can sure stand out...

Cheers Robbie. So what's the definition of Royal Occasions? B&F would be one, season launch may be another. Surely the biggest fundraising night on our calendar would be considered Royal, but that's just me!

A question for those that attended, and apologies for changing the subject to something not negative (at this stage...); Why weren't the players wearing their blazers? For some reason when I watched the clip of Jack and Jack's speech, it stuck out like testicles on a canine. Cheers

I wonder how much it was worth B59? Just stirring! Although I'm still waiting for that beer you owe me! -

This should be standard practice, and not a unique feeling. 90% of other Clubs do it, so it's good to know we are keeping up with the majority. -
I don't think it's the destabilisation thing that is the issue Oucher, it's the fact that we had sacked someone, then within hours, reappointed them. This would be very uncommon in "the real world", so how it could happen at our footy club would puzzle a lot of people. The issue for me is that what would the damage be like now had we sacked both gents? The fact that we are still talking about not sacking CS more than 12 months since the event is the big thing. Would we be still talking about the day we sacked our coach and CEO on the one day, if they were the events that took place? We talk/ed about the grey cloud over the club, has it passed or do we still have showers here and there? Would it be bright sunshine if both guys (DB & CS) were moved on after 186?

That has already started to happen DC, his first handful of games this season he was getting single figure numbers, in the past month or so he has stepped that up to mid teens.

Not speaking on behalf of Rhino here Clint, but from what RR wrote above, it's not a matter of liking Stynes, it's the fact that so many issues were handled terribly. That's not to say he was a total failure, as we know the things he did, like wiping out a massive debt, he did extremely well, or in his own words, first class.

Great, so we have to put up with Sam looking disinterested for another 2 years? I'm sure at the end of the 2 years he'll be going to GWS with his BFF. Was this discussed on DL at the time? I didn't hear it and don't remember reading about it. I am amazed that he said that. Wow.
-
Really C&B? I mean, REALLY? Wow dude, if you're trying to show we have some chance because we smashed the Crows last year, you really are clutching at straws. Just curious - have you had a look at the ladder recently?
-
What's your problem RP? Of course adding more parties in to the equation RP, would mean we have to reassess, and yes, that could mean adding just one more. But, in reality, there will only be 2 in the race, and I still feel confident that neither will bid.

Had my wires well and truly corssed with this thread, Jose. I thought you were hoping to get Jason in the rookie draft as that small forward we lack... http://www.queenslandhistoryofracing.com.au/people/jason-taylor/

While some are correct in saying that we have improved in the 2nd half of the year, can I ask who the oppostion has been? The 2nd part of this season was always our "dream run", of which at the start of the season we could've been looking at 6-10 wins such was the "ease" of the draw. I'm not getting buying this "we've improved in the 2nd half of the season" rubbish.

It's only a game Focker...

Previous cultures can, and generally do provide the foundations for new leaders to reinforce, but at the same time slightly mould to suit the current climate.
-
It's the current leadership group that reinforces the culture or creates a new one, but a majority of the time, it's the former. The Kangaroos have the shin-boner spirit, it's part of their cutlure and the club's history. It's a lot easier(?) to reinforce that than to try and create something new. The MFC story is an interesting one. I don't know what the culture was like in that era you mentioned, but I'd take a guess to say that it is vastly different to what it is now. But is the culture of the 50's what we want today to be?
