  1. has something positive to say, and any of the guys that might be in doubt to be at the club next year, he's mentioned in reference to how they're going to go next year.
  2. got a training footy signed by all the players from 2002 or 2003 i think
  3. Brock didn't say anything anyone didn't know already, not least Newton. He's quite complimentary really. Don't think the criticism of brocks comments is justified really. Yeah, in the modern day football media world we seem to expect nothing more from players than buzz phrases like 'one week at a time', but really we should be praising honesty. its refreshing.
  4. Basically since I recognised colours my Grandma started waving red and blue dressed teddy bears in my face. This has been a common theme for all her children and my cousins. We never really had a choice! At every christmas, easter, birthday, family meal that I can remember she'd get us kids to sing 'Its a Grand Old Flag' with her at some point. Now she's entrusted me to do the same for my 2 year old nephew.
  5. Gaining more and more respect for him as a coach. He really seems to understand the game ang young players well. I found it interesting to see how often he noted Bennell and Jetta. He obviously sees a lot in those guys, both being guys not often talked about on here.
  6. one thing I love though, is how his work rate. He seems to always be looking for an opportunity to help out team mates, either with a shepherd, or just running hard for support. He's a big body already, and I can see him making a big impact as a marking forward/pinch-hitting ruck. Not of Naitinui calibre, but I would go for him with maybe pick 34, if he's there. Maybe earlier if trades work our way.
  7. 6- Morton 5- Sylvia 4- Jurrah 3- Frawley 2- Moloney 1- Wheatley
  8. Glad to see Wheatley going out in style. Those bombs were the highlights of the game for me, along with the goal. All were so classicly wheatley. I'm the same...couldn't hack seeing him in another jumper. He's a player i've heard get bad-mouthed in the past, but he's always been a great hard worker for MFC.
  9. I think from all reports, Mcdonald has a whole heap more to give within the club. All the players speak extremely highly of him, and at the stage where we are, i think its fine to have him running off half-back to contribute his two cents while he makes an impact on the development of the younger players. For the next captain...it gets a bit harder. I don't think Melbourne will go for another older captain for a 1-2 year period like this time, they'll be wanting to create a football legacy with a group of players moving up as one group. So with that in mind, possibly Mclean, Sylvia or the long shot in Davey.
