  1. Great pick up....geez he does move like Cotchin and has a bit of the Dane Swans about him.
  2. Petracca is a big lump of a lad who is also a very good contested mark, wouldn't be surprised to see him playing at Centre half forward in the future, working into the midfield, kinda like our main go to player when Brayshaw , Viney, Jones, or Tyson extracts it from the centre. With Hogan at full forward we would be pretty hard to stop.
  3. I have a real good feeling that Brayshaw and Petracca will become mainstays in the senior side sooner rather than later. They are both big bodied, competitive beasts with that natural ball getting ability with an attacking burst. You just watch them go in the pre season trial games, they will be hard to ignore, just like JKH and Salem did last year, the only difference is these guys bodies seem pretty hardened, and it looks like they don't mind the contact.
  4. They could be known as The Bookend Brothers.
  5. If we get Petracca and Brayshaw, then I think we should go for a marking tall forward and then a speedy outside player, and we will be balanced out nicely.
  6. If we get Petracca it's Reece Mckenzie for me.
  7. Another thing I like about Petracca is that he also plays forward and is a big boy, this means he can develop in the forward line and snag a few goals for us with stints in the midfield as he develops, so if we lose out on mcCartin we still get some one who can cause some havoc in the forward 50 along side Hogan.
  8. What I really like about him is that the lad seems to have a bit of gumption about him. Morning news now saying that McCartin is the new favourite to be taken at Number one.
  9. Thanks for those, that Western oval game was the happiest I have been as a Dees supporter, absolute ecstasy it was. The finals where we smashed North and Sydney were amazing too, to this day I have not heard a louder crowd, forget about collinwood, our chants of Melbourne.....Melbourne......shook the stands.
  10. On Blease , I don't think he got much of a go by Roos....maybe he was being made into something he is not, a back flanker? A midfielder? I think he is a natural goal sneak nothing more, should do well at Geelong if played as a forward pocket. On Clark, I don't believe a single word that comes out of that guys mouth.
  11. Doesn't say much for Kochies business expertise.
  12. If we get two premierships I don't care who leaves.
  13. How do you know? He is just a kid isn't he? Wasn't Watts and Morton rated very highly as juniors as well?
  14. He has a gap in between his front teeth, that indicates luck. He will probably be a multiple premiership full forward.......just look at Roughead. With Hogan at Centre half forward , we will have a forward line most will fear, and heaps of confidence to our midfield who won't be afraid of kicking it inside fifty.
  15. I find it strange that many advocate picking another skinny kid, in Lever.....ala Morton and Watts. Give me the big lump of a lad in McCartin any day of the week.
  16. I've always wanted the seventies Royal blue and red as an alternate strip. I'd love it even more now as a tribute to Robbie.
  17. Rapt that Viney and Howe finished second and third in the time trial....if we are to push for finals it's guys like this who we know have immense talent who have to reach the next level.
  18. Dare I say it, but I'm going to put it out there, feeling confident...........we will win 6 to 8 games this year
  19. Maybe the delivery was very poor this year.
  20. He had been involved in junior footy for years it may not have been with the Jets.
  21. I'm just passing on what my mate said to me as he has seen a lot of these guys over the past couple of years, he could well be a bad judge.
  22. A good mate of mine who's son plays for the Western Jets says we should stay away from Brayshaw and McCartin. He sees a lot of them and reckons they are both too slow, and have very good players around them who give it to them a lot. He believes Petracca and Wright are the pick of the bunch, then Laverde and Lever. He said Wright was very good in a terrible team , who's skills were poor and even though they didn't kick it to him properly he still found plenty of the ball for a big man and is a marking machine.
  23. If StKilda are tossing up between Petracca and McCartin at pick one, surely we will pick him up at three if they don't. If they take him, it'll be Petracca and Brayshaw......all big bodied, which is what we really need, because we can't afford to wait 3 or 4 years for someone skinny with talent to develop.
  24. I think we have far too many kids playing on AFL lists. Bodies aren't fully developed, and it's hard to tell when it's boys against boys. The ratio is very high compared to top level sports around the world including, Gridiron, soccer, basketball etc. I would have a draft for under 19 kids where each club can pick one player each, then 19 and over can go into the normal draft.
  25. I think it's good that Goodwin himself suggested McCartney would be a good mentor for him when Roos leaves. Our biggest downfall in the last ten years is player development , and this guy is the best in the business.
