If I was North I'd be going after him - tough to move across the country with a young family but for a couple of hundred thousand I'm sure he'd make it work

I wonder whether they actually have a formal background in psychology at all. -

Yeah sleep deprivation etc - I doubt it was the same mob who ran the Crows one but I'm not certain. -
It's strange that that is what you would take out of my comment. I said "if" you can go - obviously you are not in a circumstance which enables you to go. I know you'll be cheering us on on the tv though OD

The stuff alleged by Betts (namely raising issues of racial insensitivity and then being demoted from the leadership team) is similar to one of the allegations found against Collingwood in their Do Better report. "After Eddie McGuire called Adam Goodes ‘King Kong’, Lumumba spoke out about this and other experiences of racism at Collingwood. He also held an internal meeting addressing CFC culture, workplace rights and human rights. When some of the jokes continued, including from team leadership, Lumumba confronted coach Nathan Buckley. Media commentary was swift, and often implied that Lumumba was overly sensitive or mentally unstable. Lumumba was moved from the leadership group of Collingwood." -

When they undertake "counselling" sessions and then break the confidentiality by using someones most personal thoughts and feelings against them in front of their teammates as a form of abusing them to teach them "resilience" I'd say that crosses the line. Absolute wankers who think they know what they're doing but have no idea. -

Not only that you could argue it cost them the 2017 flag (and inflicted the Tigers dynasty on us). -
Loved your comments on ANB @binmaniI couldn't agree more.

These are the games we live for as supporters. 2nd v 3rd. Prime time home game. Against an arch enemy. Let's pack the G in red and blue. If you don't you'll be sorry you missed it I guarantee.

They're not clubs, they're franchises.

It's one thing to know and not discuss it because you're playing to your audience and aiming for more easily digestible emotive discussion. It's another thing altogether to just dismiss it in the face of evidence. Why do they think club's pay and give so much control to the fitness staff and "phys edders"? There must be something in it .... -
From memory there is a maximum width but not length - comes from the formative years of the sport when they used to play games in the paddock outside the MCG (often with giant trees in the middle of the field).

Both the Kangaroos and Dogs have looked at playing games at Geelong previously but the AFL wouldn't let them. Kangas also wanted to sell a home game to the Eagles (like we did to Brisbane in the early 2000s) and AFL said no.

What don't they believe? That club's do it? Or that it can impact players performance on gameday due to fatigue? Because reading the article by Cam Mooney posted earlier certainly refutes that. -

Oh that was bloody brilliant, which game was that again? Was that the 100 point drubbing in Alice Springs? -
Exactly, if you can go to games like this and don't I don't know why you bother following at all.

The problem is people looking to equate loading with results rather than performance. Your performance can lead to poor results but it's more about how you perform on the day (ie noticeable fatigue, sluggishness, inability to cover ground, inability for repeated efforts etc) -

Interesting to note who was the fitness coach at Geelong in 2007 - Dean Robinson aka The Weapon - also at Essendon when Goodwin was there. -

Not so, it's been mentioned here and there over 25 years. The most common example is Craig at the Crows when Blight was coach. Nevermind the date stamp this article is from 2007 (notice the Crows midfielder who is quoted in the article 🤔) https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/crows-can-do-it-the-hard-way/news-story/8dbb81862363821fdf0a51548b4adb85 Also "1997: Becomes fitness adviser and assistant coach of Adelaide. He plays a massive role in Adelaide winning back-to-back premierships. Craig had previously been a sports scientist at South Australian Institute of Sport. His “tapering” training is regarded as cutting edge among the AFL" https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/755571/neil-craig-timeline
