  1. My only concern is that with no 1st rounders from 2016-18 we may end up with a hole in our list from an age perspective 7 or 8 years down the track (similar to our poor drafting in the early 2000's). But if the strategy pays off with a flag or 3 over the next decade I'm sure I'll live with it
  2. They changed the rules after that and it's draft tampering.
  3. I think the AFL had changed this slightly haven't they? Pretty sure clubs can now only take as many picks to the draft as they spots on their list. So packaging up 3 picks in the 30s to give to Brisbane for pick 12 (for example) may not work if Brisbane then has too many picks vs spots on the list.
  4. Agreed - was my initial reaction but I'm just happy we've secured him and can move on to other things this trade period.
  5. Every second year is touted as the next "superdraft". Actually it seems "next years" draft is always the "superdraft" but next year never comes.
  6. It's not really a gamble, he's a proven commodity. Overpaying is not the same as gambling.
  7. Feels like we overpaid, hope lives up to the hype! Hopefully we have some more moves on the way to work back into next year's draft, 3 years without a 1st round pick could be costly.
  8. AFL website reporting Crows have offered Motlop $600k - and they're cracking the sads because we offered $750k to Lever???
  9. Agreed pick 10 is fair
  10. They're acting like a dumped ex, lashing out because they're so hurt at being rejected by what is obviously a young talent
  11. There's not enough talent coming out of SA for two teams. How many were drafted last year from there, 5?
  12. Scully? Double standards.
  13. I doubt Richmond would do that but you never know.
  14. You never know though, remember Mitch Clark was signed, sealed and delivered to Freo before we snuck in.
  15. That's draft tampering - the only thing he can do is put a price on his head that he'll hope will turn other clubs off but as noted North and Saints have picks before ours and seemingly cap space to burn.
  16. If Adelaide don't deal and won't budge on 2 first round picks, I'd rather take our chances with him going to the draft. In that case, I'd be fine if we missed out on him and used our picks this year and next on some pace rather than cave and give them two first rounders. We already had a pretty much nothing draft last year (Hannan, Dion Johnstone & upgraded Wagner) two years in a row of nothing drafts and 3 years in a row with no 1st round picks is not ideal.
  17. Of course they're gonna say that, they need to appease their supporter base
  18. Adelaide List Manager Brett Burton on Trade Radio confirmed Melbourne has been nominated by Lever
  19. http://www.afc.com.au/news/2017-10-03/statement-jake-lever Jake Lever has informed the Adelaide Football Club that he wishes to join a Victorian football club in 2018.
  20. Barrett and Wallace on Trade Radio - Collingwood was interested in Lever, and still are, but have been told no, it's Melbourne
  21. Assuming if we land Lever TMac will play FF next year with Hogan as CHF.
  22. Schaches not leaving the Lions
  23. Yeah he wasn't in the game as much last night as the Cats tried to take him away from the contest to limit his impact. Sacrificed his personal game for the team game.
  24. Especially if dealing with Essendon
  25. Plus they owe us for Thompson
