Dude at least the Falcons made the Superbowl. I follow the Jets in the NFL, will be lucky to win a game this year, tanking before the seasons even started then will probably end up drafting a bust QB.

Give me a break
-
Oh get [censored], seriously

Maybe it was the injuries to Hogan and Gawn but we got slaughtered time and again in contested marking in 2017. Interesting to see what moves the FD make or try and make in the off season. Pace and skill I agree with, seems those we have who do have pace are prone to turnovers or not the most skilled by foot, we need a player with that combo.

Our two weaknesses for mine are contested marking and outside skill. Hopefully we address these in the off season. Not sure Lever is the answer down back, he looks like a better version of OMac but he won't help us figure out how to deal with Grundy, Cox, Daniher, Brown, Franklin etc We need a gorilla minder down there. As far as the year goes it's one of mixed emotions. Fantastic and memorable wins against the Crows, WCE and Pies but frustrating displays against Northx2, Freo and Pies. Personally it was a great year as it was the first year my 4yo really started watching games and understanding what's going on. He's completely indoctrinated and full of hope for the future, he even said last night "doesn't matter maybe we can win 2 premierships next year" poor kid haha. Got his 2yo brother to join him next year as well. All in all a very frustrating and disappointing end to an "almost" season. We are trending up though and have a young innovative coach with some experience under his belt now who will also learn over the off season. I'm still bullish about the future if this playing group especially guys like Oliver, Petracca, Viney and Hogan.

Mate people are understandably [censored] and are using this forum to vent. I get it. You can't blame them, we're all hurting as a club. I don't agree with sending emails berating people at the club but venting online here is fine. I've come to terms with it, still angry but can see the bigger picture and in the long run we are a young team still trending up. Hopefully with some better luck with injury next year and fewer suspensions we will give the top 4 a shake. But you have to give people time to grieve the disappointment of finishing 9th and missing finals by a whisker when we lost 5 very winnable games this year. Its gonna hurt for a while.

Mate some people just want to find something to whinge about, have a look at most posts on this thread for reference

I want them to make a statement on the field in 13 months time
-
The only apology I'll accept is at the trade table and their actions on the field next season. Anything else is just hollow rhetoric.

I have never contemplated not joining up. I've been a member since I was 7 years old in 1989. If I decided to not buy a membership I'd decide to stop following the Demons altogether. Which will never happen.

I genuinely believe we were one of the best 6 teams in the comp this year. Of course the ladder is the ultimate arbiter but the only teams I would have easily ahead of us are Adel, Syd & GWS. We are on par with Rich & Geel, I'd have is slightly ahead of Port and we are better than that Windy Hill mob. The fact they've made finals and we haven't is sickening. The first half of the season we were one of the better teams. We lost some games where we were the better side due to injuries and inaccuracy (Rich & Cats). The second half of the season we fell in a bit of a heap but still put in some good showings for parts of games (Port and Saints for starters). The focus all summer should be on learning how to put away teams, firstly by smashing poor teams early and snuffing them out and secondly by pushing on when getting a decent lead against better opposition. I don't understand why we seem to ease up when we get to that 6-7 goal mark, keep pushing and put your foot to their throat! And with teams like the Lions, North etc come out and smash them early and theyll roll over in the second half. Geelong were excellent at this during their glory years you grind the poor teams down and get on top in the first half and kill off any hope they have. You give them a sniff at a rare win and theyll inevitably find another gear.
-
We showed throughout the year we have what it takes to take it up to teams. We beat the Crows, Port, Bombers and Eagles and probably should've beat Tiges and Cats if not for injuries/poor goalkocking. We were ready to play finals this year, I thought we should've played finals last year, this year should've been a given.
-
Lol ok see above
-
The young guys are the ones who stood up yesterday. Oliver, Petracca, Hunt were the ones cracking in and trying to will is over the line.
-
You said "we are not ready for finals" which as I pointed out is clearly rubbish. I understand people are angry, I am too, but this rubbish about we're not ready, we're not good enough etc is [censored]. We were easily a top 6 team this year and [censored] ourselves in the foot time and again with losses to rubbish teams and failing to kill off teams when we had the opportunity. We maintain the 32 point lead against the Lions last week we're in finals. We beat Freo/Hawks/North/Pies we're in finals and likely hosting an EF or playing in a QF. To say we are not ready implies the players are still too young which is rubbish. They are good enough now and they shat the bed, I hope it [censored] stings them all summer.
-
We should have a sports psychologist on the payroll because it's our biggest issue by a mile. Even against Port, Saints, Lions - we get up by 30-40 points then relax and let them back in the game. I just don't get it.
-
Rubbish
-
Yep, we're a top 4 quality side that has blown games against poor sides that will see us finish 9th. Disgraceful.
-
That is the most damning stat I think I've ever heard in my time watching this team.
-
The most frustrating thing is I chickened out on chucking $50 on us to miss the finals at 11-1 after being talked out of it by my wife who said "have faith in your team"! I should've known better
-
That is - I wanna say appalling but it's actually sickening
-
I watched on TV and the umpiribg today, particularly at the start of the last quarter, was downright incredulous. I'd love to see the AFL try and explain some of those decisions however we all know they've got a justification for everything.
-
Vince has been pretty poor all year, bar the Crows game in Adelaide. I'd seriously be considering whether we should extend his contract
-
To be fair some of the decisions were appalling, especially the one on 3/4 time
-
Is there any point?
