  2. Yeah he did but he didn't berate any posters who dared to question the legitimacy of his information. He also didn't say he was told from a player at a training run I mean seriously, what do you expect the player to say? "Nah I'll be gone as soon as the seasons done, can't wait to get out of this place!" 🙄 I'm not saying either are wrong I'm saying posters are within their rights to take the information with a grain of salt.
  3. Wouldn't surprise me if he's not the one managing his insta account, would be his manager or media person etc
  4. Agree although conversely I feel like the Cats game was one we were never really in despite being close enough on the scoreboard (I didn't see this whole game though so could be wrong).
  5. He had Jennings initially but he was moved on after 2019 I think?
  6. Probably not but that should be the focus on any trade. Don't worry so much about what we're getting back, worry about clearing the cap space.
  7. I heard that too and thought it was very interesting. Wonder what the thought processes of the players would be if a new coach came in saying that, I know Max has commented in the past that Goodwin's focus on expected score did his head in sometimes (after the 23 finals series?)
  8. They don't live in Essendon, they live in Ascot Vale, Moonee Ponds, Carlton, Brunswick. They don't live in Moorabbin they live in Toorak, Prahran Richmond, Bentleigh, South Yarra. When we are compared to other clubs Casey doesn't match up and is a clear disadvantage.
  9. I'd take any pick we can get if we could clear his salary from our books. We wouldn't get a great player with that pick (although we have struck gold with late picks in the past so who knows) but the salary may allow us to hunt another player next offseason ala TDK to Saints.
  10. I was discussing with my family last night saying Goodwin has coached the instinct out of the team. Way too robotic in his demeanour and hence the way they play. Way too focused on metrics and structures etc which definitely have a place but can't be at the expense of instinct and feel for the game. We stream through the middle and go one handball too many, get to the 50 stop and look sideways. We keep trying to look for someone in the perfect position and don't take our chances at goal. We bomb long to the goalsqaure on top of the forwards heads I stead of 25-30 out where they can run onto it or the crumbers can be dangerous instead of the ball being walked through for a behind by defenders etc etc
  11. The location definitely is an issue. What 20-something wants to live on the Mornington Peninsula? They want to be around the nightlife. When we are trying to lure prospective recruits how do you think the Mornington Peninsula measures vs Richmond, Carlton or other inner city suburbs?
  12. I noticed that too
  13. Considering he gave away a 50 for the same rule earlier this season he should be well aware of it. I'm torn on Melksham, on one hand he offers something up forward being a rare player with goal sense. On the other he plays lazy footy a lot of the time, playing from behind trying to work his opponent under the ball or take a speccy which rarely comes off. This is probably due to age/speed but it is still a limitation which is frustrating. If we had another quicker option I wouldn't be offering him another year (or only on the proviso he will be depth and likely play out the season at Casey).
  14. We were 3 goals up with just over half a quarter to play and not one Melbourne supporter would've been confident of a win. Thats why the negativity because not only did it happen, we've seen the story a million times before. We had the chance to at least go down swinging and cost an arch rival a double chance and we bottled it. Same old story.
  15. Oliver missed his sitter at halftime
  16. You reckon the Packers let you down try following the Jets
  17. Pickett had a free against him for a similar tackle on Quaynor
  18. We have so few players that seem to have an instinct for the goals, it's actually the opposite our players seem to freeze up and want to hand it off instead of taking the opportunity to score. So many instances in the last quarter alone, it's truly baffling.
  19. Is Sinnema eligible this year?
  20. Yep we are the champs at honourable losses 🥳🙄
  21. Thank God for Gawn, he is an absolute beast. His ruckwork isn't great but his around the ground work is phenomenal. The effort he puts in should shame some of our other players. Langford was good. Rivers had a good second half after looking all at sea in the middle to start with. Imagine if he'd been given a whole season to develop as a mid.... This team is so frustrating to watch, they do so much right but just shoot themselves in the foot again and again. At once stage it seriously felt like we were watching a team of special eds running around out there not professional athletes. @binman there was a definite change to our ball movement that I noticed tonight (although the execution was diabolical) with the play on mantra, taking the shorter options etc. I'll admit this is one I likely got wrong as it's unlikely they just flicked a switch in the final game and have probably been working on it all season. My confirmation bias was probably noticing the long down the line/around the boundary kicks more than the alternative methods although I think we definitely tried the faster ball movement more frequently tonight. Short of going back and watching games from earlier this season again (which I'd rather stick hot pokers in my eye than do) it would be difficult to analyse so I'll admit Goodwin was trying to implement changes to the ball movement. I don't think that mitigates the other faults Goodwin had but on this one happy to say I was wrong.
  22. Just don't get reported Kozzie, please! Costing Collingwood the double chance would be a rare win in an otherwise terrible season.
  23. I agree with the intent of stamping out this behaviour but 4 weeks 🤦
  24. Would be a smart move for any incoming coach. Start clearing the decks of the cultural issues that have plagued the team for years.
