  2. I was prepared to book 'Reserved Seats' for $46.50 but they were putting me on Level 1 also between Aisles 41 or 27 (behind the goals Lockett end), so I chose the lesser of two evils. Annoys me that Axcess One members from that horrible stadium can get into the MCC facilities for the same price and get much better seats and services. I think the MFC should investigate offering MCC/MFC memberships with access to good seating at Sh*tihad.
  3. For those of you who didn't catch it last night: http://www.3aw.com.au/displayPopUpPlayerAction.action?&url=http://media.mytalk.com.au/3AW/AUDIO/280410_JackTrengove.mp3 Jack's interview with Dwaynepipe and Gerard Healy on AW.
  4. $32.00 per MCC Member and slightly more for a guest ticket. Every time I have bought seats in Axcess One using my MCC Membership I am put somewhere betwee Aisle 41 (left forward pocket Coventry End) and 47 (behind the goals Coventry End). Guess who's getting the better deal out of this arrangement? I'll give you a hint...it's not the MCC Members. Despite this I'll pay almost anything to watch us at the moment!
  5. The Etihad Stadium website is hopeless. I had to ring up Ticketmaster to organise our Axcess One Tickets through the reciprocal rights with the MCC. If your membership card reads "Admits to XX Home & Away Games" then you should be able to walk up and scan. Some memberships are just for home games. Might be worth a call to the club or Ticketmaster if you're unsure. Edit: Oh I forgot, for the privilege of speaking to a computer over the phone I paid an extra $7.30. Thanks Ticketmaster
  6. Dayne Beams selects his best 22 on afl.com.au, among them Brad Miller Born in Tasmania but moved to Queensland where he was drafted to Melbourne from Mt Gravatt Football Club. He is a good lead with a great set of hands. Miller has good endurance and is one of the leaders at the Demons. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/92959/default.aspx I understand there is fair bit of Mt. Gravatt Love going on, but I don't think many people in the football world would be selecting Brad in their Best 22 at this stage. Good call/bad call?
  7. I'm guessing not a great deal considering he passed away in 2008. Pretty cheap shot.
  8. I know it's dumb that these so-called "experts" keep mistaking our players for some other hacks (cf. Jackson Trengrove, Alwyn Davey, Robert Warnock & Danny Frawley), but how bloody good is it to finally have some positive press about the MFC and our gamestyle?! Sitting in the stands every week and watching the run and carry and the amazing footspeed is so exciting! Watching the replay then just confirms in my mind that the skill level has increased considerably from last year. Just imagine how good we are going to be once we can eliminate some of the errant handpassing and flat kicking! The Foxtel commentary crew from Saturday night were absolutely gushing in their praise for our gameplan and the brand of footy that we exhibited.
  9. Just watching the replay on afl.com.au now, and I'm not sure if it's Foxtel having their FX-mic turned up to the max, but when that disgusting free-kick was paid against Bennell for the "bump" I could have sworn there were 70,000 there. I know I was one of them going ape shizen in the MCC members, and pretty much everyone around us was going off.
  10. FYI Ladies and Gents, Bail missed because of a corked thigh that didn't come up. Apparently some heavy bruising and bleeding. Hopefully right for next week - who misses out though?
  11. To be honest, I couldn't give a stuff about the ratings. So long as we kill North I won't care. I plan to be at Etihad to witness our 4th consecutive win.
  12. Word on Wonaeamirri is that it is not so much a musculoskeletal issue as a biomechanical one. That is to say, he is straining the hamstring in the last lunge of a tackle. This will mean some work with a bio-mechanist to improve technique. Hopefully this doesn't remove tackling intensity from his game, as if I remember rightly he has been a pretty solid tackler.
  13. We should each aim to sign up one other member within the next few weeks!
  14. Let them huff and puff. The MRP haven't seen fit to take any action over it. I care about the whole situation as much as the football public seemed to care about Col Sylvia's harsher treatment. To me it reinforces the fact that the AFL "say" they protect the head, but when it comes to the crunch (pardon the pun) are as weak as the proverbial.
  15. Fair enough. I'm of the internet generation (only 21) where capitals equate to SCREAMING! I need to get away from my PC.
  16. Woah woah woah...take a chill-pill. If you refer to the OP you will find that I never said we should take them lightly, just that it might make our task a bit easier. If you consider that Cousins, and to a much lesser extent Dean Polo, are talented players it means that we have two less concerns in terms of matchups, hence why our task may become easier. We certainly can't afford to be arrogant...yet.
  17. Daniel Connors, Luke McGuane, Dean Polo and Ben Cousins all suspended by the RFC for unacceptable behaviour after their match against Sydney on Saturday. Surely this makes our task somewhat easier?
  18. Not quite accurate. Round 7 2005 - Melbourne v. Adelaide (MCG) 39,475 In 2006 we played them at Carrara infront of 8,258 people, and at AAMI infront of 41,364. Round 13 2005 - Melbourne v. West Coast (MCG) 35,653
  19. Loved how Bails gave the supporters and members a pump-up too. Nice to finally get some public acknowledgement for those of us who have sat at the 'G week after week through hard, seemingly endless winters where there has been rarely a glimmer of hope. I, for one, will be walking around with that very same smile he talked about in his press conference last night. Hope it might last for two weeks when we pump the Tigers next week.
  20. Not sure they were held back by the club. Seemed that Rohan Smith grabbed them both for an interview on Fox. So proud to be MFC when Jackyboy ran off after his goal and the crowd rose as one and cheered him off. We do that better than most clubs IMHO. Also, was bloody fantastic to see the smile plastered from ear to ear on Scullgove as they made their way off the ground. These kids are going to make us one hell of a successful club.
  21. I thought the best part about it was that at least 70-80 people were in attendance, if not more, which at $200 a head translates to anywhere between $14,000 - $20,000 for the club for a function that costs them the best part of nothing. Really interesting insights. Josh Mahoney seems really switched on and Cam was in fine form, as per usual. Looking forward to the next one against the Lions!
  22. I'm pretty sure that is the path down which they were heading when that "Team Melbourne" venture was launched - it went belly-up and so did the concept. As a marketer I think the MFC's major goal should be (and is according to the Red & Blueprint) to generate new custom. That is, attracting new consumers (at the end of the day, that's what we are) who previously have not belonged to the product category "AFL Football Teams". That is where the Demon Heartland memberships and Casey community links are a fantastic initiative. The MFC have a unique opportunity to spread their new brand message, rather than having to repeatedly convince existing category customers who have been exposed to the tired old stereotypes about Melbourne supporters which are perpetuated by the media and the AFL to an extent. Our major problem is the size of the potential membership base. Cam Schwab always makes reference to the fact that the MFC has the highest conversion rate to membership in the AFL. It is much wiser to attempt to convince completely uninformed, emotionally uninvolved individuals of the quality of our product, than to direct marketing efforts at existing members who have such a strong, often irrational, emotional connection to the Demon brand that they will sign up regardless (a simple phone call or mailout usually does this trick for this segment). Lapsed membership is a bit of a different story and without adequate MR on the major reasons for this (ie. financial, changing social priorities etc.) it's hard to develop a combat strategy. I did, however, note a post on this forum where the club is seeking to run a phone-drive to reconnect with old members. If so, bravo. If I had to develop a strategy for the Demons I would be using this current period of growth and development in a similar way to St. Kilda's IMC strategy a few years ago where the message was basically "Get on for the ride of your life" and was directed strongly at non-traditional football communities. I could count on one hand the number of St. Kilda members I know that have followed the Saints for more than about 5 years - the rest have come on board because the StKFC marketing department was been clever enough to think outside of their traditional customer set and have now locked hoardes of people into the St. Kilda brand. I am confident that the current board, CEO and President understand this and that the correct avenues are being pursued to grow our membership base. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen and now is the perfect time to begin. I'll stop blathering now. I'm logging on to the MFC website as we speak. Putting my money where my mouth is and purchasing a Heartland membership. Suggest all of you in a capacity to do so, do the same.
  23. Forked over $200 today to take part in the "Before the Bounce" being offered at 4 home games this year. Wondering if anyone else here has done similar?
  24. I'd definitely be interested in both the function and potentially a Future Fund membership.
