  1. I don't know why such concern ??? Its really very simple START WINNING GAMES , because with Success comes Acknowledgement, with Acknowledgement comes Reward . With Reward comes Growth and with Growth comes Financial security . That's what we all want and though this year may seem to lack in the Financial Stakes if we are ever going to win games it must be under this draw Our First round match against St Kilda should be a no-brainer now . A first up win one would believe especially considering the disarray St Kilda are now in as well as the players they have lost during the trade period not to factor in how our own list has improved! If we don't start winning then we don't deserve anything anyway. Does anyone here actually believe that in light of our recent recruiting and that Paul Roos is now Coach that we wont start winning Games ???? Personally I cant wait for the season to Begin it will be nice to have something to actually Cheer about again
  2. I can Guarantee you this much Melbourne will end up somewhere between 1-18 next year, hows that for a prediction In all honesty Its just the where I cant pin down at the moment But I believe best case scenario would be 8th Worst case I would hope is no less than 12th The year after 8th upwards But governed by 1 proviso INJURIES
  3. Looks Like Santa Claus has delivered once again and I am so looking forward to Christmas
  4. I am not saying we will, I am saying it will make no difference , it may be pick 38 but the agreement says the Crows will accept it regardless at least that is the way I understand it maybe someone can ask the MFC Oh well time will tell anyway , but as far as the MFC is concerned at the Moment with Roos and his Crew , I am happy as .............well you know Jeez Harry you better be Right or they will string me up here
  5. The trade agreement is for The pick we receive as compensation for the Loss of Sylvia The agreement also says if the pick is lower than 25 they will still accept the deal Pick 1 through to 25 are Higher picks than 25-30 etc Therefore anything after pick 25 is a lower pick that is at least the way I understand it and they have agreed to accept that regardless This is a official post on the AFL website so I am fairly confident its a done deal . If its not then blame Harry Thring not me
  6. Sylvia compo headed Crows' way Melbourne has agreed to trade the compensation pick it received for losing free agent Colin Sylvia to Adelaide in exchange for midfielder Bernie Vince, says The Advertiser. The pick is expected to fall at the start of the second round of the NAB AFL Draft, perhaps immediately after the Demons pick No. 20. If the pick is lower than 25, the Crows will, reportedly, accept the trade. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-18/trade-winds-friday I believe based on the above the DEAL is done Regardless Welcome Bernie Vince to the MFC
  7. MELBOURNE has secured outstanding young Greater Western Sydney midfielder Dom Tyson, plus picks No.9 and No.53. In exchange, the Demons have given the Giants three draft selections: No.2, No.20 and No.72. The 20 year-old is an excellent clearance player with fine vision and awareness. Tyson also possesses genuine composure with ball in hand, and is an excellent disposer by foot or hand. Tyson, who was originally selected at No.3 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, made his AFL debut in GWS’ inaugural home and away clash against the Sydney Swans in round one, 2012. Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney said: “We’ve been able to bring in a class midfielder in Tyson, and improve our second draft selection from pick 20 to pick 9 in what we see as a fairly even draft. We have also been able to improve our pick 72 to pick 53, so the net effect of the deal is very positive for the Melbourne Football Club.” In Answer to the Original Question on this Thread YES
  8. Latest update for today 10.15am: Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney spoke to Gillette AFL Trade Radio this morning and said the following: The Demons are still highly likely to trade draft pick No.2 for a player/pick combination. They continue to talk to clubs about possible scenarios. They enquired about the Brisbane Lions' Tom Rockliff and West Coast's Luke Shuey as potential trades for the pick. Both have said they'd like to stay at their current clubs. Daniel Cross will have to wait until late in the trade period to find out if he's to be thrown a lifeline by Melbourne. The Demons will look at their net result from the exchange period and the amount of experience they've brought in before making a call on Cross. Mark Jamar remains off the table. There have been no discussions about the ruckman leaving the club. The Demons consider their ruck stocks well sorted but would look at Darren Jolly if something was to change. There is no guarantee Jack Trengove and Jack Grimes will captain the club next year. Leading Teams will come in and start the process to appoint a captain in the next month. The Demons continue to work with the Sydney Swans about releasing Stuart Dew to take on the senior assistant coaching role at the club. He remains one of the Dees' "preferred candidates". Says Leigh Tudor wasn't a consideration and Nathan Bassett hasn't been involved in chats yet. http://www.afl.com.au/trade-period/trade-radio
  9. The Swans reportedly have given the out-of-contract development coach George Stone their blessing to join Roos at the Demons given that he has been commuting to Sydney. 10. Josh Kelly just completed a 3 Km time trial run on the Final day of the draft combine . Breaking his own record Kelly ran the six-and-a-bit laps of Etihad Stadium in nine minutes and 48 seconds, recording a time better than anyone else at the combine at the same time setting himself up as a priority pick if not the top of the draft Billing for upcoming selection.
  11. Who what where ???? Swans on the move? It is possible the Sydney Swans could be offloading more players than originally thought, with a new trade whisper emerging that the club is attempting to reposition itself in this year's draft and land a pick inside the top five. The word is that the Swans are considering doing a deal with a Melbourne-based club that has a high draft pick, possibly St Kilda or Melbourne - clubs with links to the Swans. A deal involving a package of players, including at least two premiership heroes, is the suggestion. It is no secret that Nick Smith has strong roots in Melbourne and the pull home always lingers. Smith has been touted as a future captain of the Swans and he is certainly a backline general. However, the Swans may be willing to cut their losses if the reward is high. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-07/trade-winds-monday SIX CLUBS have expressed interest in Hawthorn midfielder Shane Savage, who is likely to make a decision on his preferred destination this week. The contracted Savage - an emergency for Hawthorn's Grand Final side - is seeking to be traded, with the Hawks' approval. As the Gillette AFL Exchange Period opens, Carlton, Melbourne, West Coast and St Kilda have expressed interest in the 22-year-old.
  12. I couldn't agree more especially when you consider it was Colless that kicked up the fuss about us getting a Priority Pick and then had the temerity to lecture ROOS about Poaching !!!!
  13. Yep you could say its definitely "Done and Dusted now"
  14. I haven't heard whether Colin Sylvia has accepted the deal Melbourne offered him. If he hasn't, does that mean as of tomorrow he will be open to offers? If so as a free agent do we get anything for him, or are we just stiffed again?
  15. As far as Chappy is concerned regardless of the amount of Time he spent on the field his mere presence would motivate many of out younger players and as a mentor they wouldn't come any better , the Bonus to me would be the mount of times he could be on the field http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-09-25/it-hurts-says-chappy "GEELONG veteran Paul Chapman is prepared to consider moving interstate to keep his career alive if he is delisted by the Cats. The three-time premiership player, who is out of contract, is in limbo while the club completes a review of its list. He desperately wants to stay at Geelong for another year, although AFL.com.au understands that such a deal is highly unlikely. "To be a one-club player would be awesome," Chapman told reporters during the Cats' end of season party on Wednesday. "But to play for another club … I'm not saying that may not happen if things don't work out here." Chapman is unclear when he will meet coach Chris Scott to discuss his future. "It's a good question," he said. "I'd like to know. Let's get it over and done with. "I just need to get this meeting with Scotty over and done with first, and see where I stand in their eyes, and then work from there. "Whatever the future holds, I need to start preparing as soon as possible. "Hopefully it's here, but who really knows. It's all up in the air." After playing 251 games for Geelong over 14 seasons, Chapman is struggling to cope with the possibility that his time at the club might be over. "It hurts. It really does," he said. "I suppose you take it a little bit for granted. "You just think that things will just happen and roll along and then things like this get thrown at you. It's a little challenge." The 31-year-old says he will consider offers from any clubs, including those outside Victoria. "I feel like I've got a lot to give," he said. "The fire still burns, and I want to be more successful than what I've been If we can get him we would be stupid not to !
  16. Roos has demanded an apology from Colless - With whom he appeared on the same program as friends just weeks ago - and denied he was attempting to steal Sydney's best young talent. "The young boy is very, very keen to play for the Sydney Swans footy club. If he chooses not to and goes in the draft, he's eligible to be picked up by any club in the competition," Roos said. "I don't understand where the animosity is coming from." "They've moved on and I've got to move on. Clearly there's an enormous amount of anger coming out of the Sydney Swans towards me. I don't understand why it happens. Maybe it's a message to me that things don't always pan out the way you want them to. "I was hoping and always have hoped that I would walk out of that club respecting the club and receiving the same respect in return." Roos went on to suggest that Sydney had burnt its bridges with him. "The last two or three days, post-what Richard said, that's galvanised in my mind I'm no longer with the Swans, I'm with Melbourne and I'll do the absolute best I can for the Melbourne footy club.!! "From my point of view I had the right to go and do another job. I've got to deal with the fact that I'm now the Melbourne coach." http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-coach-paul-roos-devastated-at-the-animosity-from-former-club-sydney/story-fni5f8gf-1226726775557 Don't you just Love it The more Roo speaks and Acts the more I believe we finally have a Future GO DEES !
  17. The one thing Jack needs to realise is what Loyalty can bring, and that by putting ones self on the line for his club and friends will earn him respect and much more than what other options can bring "Loyalty" He may be six kinds of a liar He may be ten kinds of a fool. He may be a wicked high flier Beyond any reason or rule. There may be a shadow above him Of ruin and woes to impend And I may not respect, but I love him, Because -- well, because he's one of my team. I know he has faults by the billion, But his faults are a portion of him, I know that his record's vermillion And he's far from the sweet Seraphim; But he's always been square with yours truly, Ready to give or to lend, And if he's wild and unruly I like him -- because he's one of my team I criticize him but I do it In just a frank comradely key And back biting gossips will rue it If they ever knock him to me! I never make diagrams of him No maps of his soul have I penned, I don't analyse -- I just love him, Because -- well, because he's one of my team. Author Unknown
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3WxVe8wqf8 Hopefully with Roos clips like this will be a thing of the past .
  19. Just a side thought I bet we get a good draw next year courtesy of the AFL to give Roos a chance to get off to a real good start
  20. YES! YES! YES ! I see no Negatives in this ! PARTY TIME ENJOY IT !!!
  21. Hi Jazza , Im a fisherman and a Passionate Demon supporter Also been working with Farm Power in the western district , personally I am neither of the above that you mentioned . If I had a way of Helping the MFC by being elected I would be spruiking that here unfortunately no magic wand just plenty of passion and if Roos gets appointed maybe some long overdue hope
  22. Thanks for the interest guys I wont say which party as I don't believe its appropriate to and I am not going to try and spruik for votes here besides I think the Moderators would take a dim view of it , But I will say it is one of the minors, and if you had gone to the 4x4 boating and fishing show you may have even met me there. The only other thing I can guarantee is we are certainly not the greens But like most of us, Ill be glad when its over and I can go back to concentrating on my Club and where it is heading. To me the year 2014 may well be a watershed year for the MFC , and I can at least once again begin to dream of seeing a MFC Grand Final win at least possibly in the new future , the way it was going I was going to apply for seats when I entered the pearly gates if they accepted me . I was begging to think It might be the only way I would ever get to see one .
  23. Okay lets put this too bed As a realist I am ready to concede that I have little chance of being elected to the Senate at this up coming Federal Election even though I am standing, On the other hand as for Paul Roos not to be appointed to the Melbourne Football Club as coach for 2014, I know as a realist that this is just not going to happen and there is no need to concede this in any shape form or fashion !!! . It has gone way too Far now with the Media , the AFL , and with Roos himself for it not to be a done deal now!! So I suggest to all the supporters here . Kick back , relax , have the Beer and Champers Ready as well as the chips and party poppers because it has been a long , long time for all of us as MFC supporters, since we have had anything to really celebrate and to me the appointment of ROOS is something definitely worth celebrating . What it translates into in the season proper we don't know yet , but at least as a supporter it gives me something to look forward to and though I was reserved in my judgement before I am now fully accepting that this is real and not just a dream. I for one plan to saviour every moment of it from here on in GO DEES
  24. If you haven't red this I think you need to especially in light of the Real possibility now that Roos will coach Melbourne Next year It reads like his Blueprint and also what he believes he can and cannot deliver "Demons fans will want to know immediately how soon the club’s on-field fortunes can change." This is where the challenge begins for the new coach. Unfortunately, for Demons fans, I would suggest the new coach won’t be able to provide a satisfactory answer at his first press conference. Most of the list will need to be closely looked at by before he can make an assessment of how quickly things can turn around. The biggest question on everyone’s lips is: is Melbourne’s on-field performance a reflection of poor recruiting or poor development? If you dissect the list there are clearly some strengths and weaknesses. The Demons look to have three good tall defenders in James Frawley, Colin Garland and Tom McDonald. As we know, defence wins premierships and there are many teams who would love to start with these three players. Equally, the forward line could consist of Mitch Clark, Chris Dawes and Jesse Hogan. Certainly, at their best, these three would trouble opposition defenders. We know what Clark and Dawes can deliver and, by all accounts, young Hogan is destined to be a star. The midfield is clearly a major concern. At the moment you have probably Nathan Jones as the only midfielder who would walk into most sides. As important as it is to have great defenders to stop the opposition scoring, the main defensive and offensive weapon is a hard running deep midfield. Your mids will create defensive pressure and dictate how many opportunities Clark, Dawes and Hogan will get. However, it is not all doom and gloom because the current list has three potential stars. Jack Trengrove was a star leading up to the draft and I still fully believe he could become a genuine elite midfielder. Jack Viney and Jimmy Toumpas are highly rated kids and have already shown glimpses of what they could be in the future. Sam Blease is another. Has he been underdeveloped or is he not up to AFL level? You would love to give him the opportunity to play multiple games in a row and find out. If the Dees were to be granted a priority pick they could address their midfield weaknesses quickly. That being the case I would look to trade either Pick 1 or 3 for the best midfielders available. There are many talented players on the list who have not reached their potential. In no particular order they are Colin Sylvia, Jack Grimes, Aaron Davey, Mark Jamar and Luke Tapscott. Over the past two seasons we have also seen some very good games from Max Gawn, Jack Fitzpatrick, Dean Terlich and the very exciting Jeremy Howe … and then there is former No.1 draft pick Jack Watts. I was there the day Jack played his first game. I have never seen a fanfare like it and is it any wonder he has never lived up to that hype? "It was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever seen from a football club in handling a young football player." ( I have always said this and I couldn't agree more ) Make no mistake, the Demons need to keep hold of Watts because he is incredibly talented and still could be a star. He needs a coach that will find a position for him, play him in that position and teach him what it takes to be a genuine AFL player. We must also remember that even premiership teams have players that are not stars but play a role and play it well. I’m sure those players exist at Melbourne. Clearly some smart trading and drafting is needed, but if the Demons get everything right they could have a competitive team next year. http://www.thefordhamcompany.com.au/paul-roos-herald-sun-column-22/ "From ROOS Mouth to GODS Ears" Yes I am beginning to feel the old passion beginning to stir and I'm a Old Dee Supporter and that is Exciting believe me "GO DEES "
