  1. even if they combine for 50 goals, it will be about 40 goals we didnt have this year. makes us a 2 goal per game better next year. puts us in more games for longer, possibly wins us some close games eg rich and geel. this is good only if the rest of the comp doesnt improve by 2 goals a game also
  2. i wouldnt mind keeping the hubs from next year onward
  3. IMO, it seems like the board is holding up its part of the bargain, not assisted allowing us to fund/ support the football dept We made changes to the football dept and they "seem" happy with those changes. IMO it feels as though they need to make fundamental changes to the programs within the coaching dept, even though we are looking at other clubs, for me, we are not doing what other clubs are doing. what needs to change in the training structures? what needs to change in the development program? what needs to change in the individual payer program? what changes need to be made in each part of the field? what changes need to be made from the game plan/ style? The players are not executing, so there are issues with the program, communication and style. The amount of shots and uncontested possessions that Freo had tells me that the forward half of the ground was not doing their job. I believe that we have the playing group to challenge, minus some plodders and key position players. I dont believe we have the right coaches around them to challenge. Pert says the players love Goody, but it doesnt look like it from the outside. in our case, perception is reality
  4. I dont think he has had them since the prelim. it looked like they lost faith in the gameplan after that, but he doubled down on it, last year and this year. you reap what you sew i suppose. all other changes "have" been made, only the game plan remains
  5. another 5 years of being mediocre, before becoming absolutely ****house again
  6. wont matter, players that come to the MFC only come for the paycheque, they don't want to win games, play finals or win premierships.
  7. FFS it infuriates me!! he doubled the [censored] down on the game plan after the Eagles loss in 2018, Even after last year continues to double down on the game plan. this game plan does not win [censored] games let alone finals!! We bring in new coaches and move deck chairs on the Titanic. How can he keep selling hope to the players. these two weeks tell me he has lost the players. EVERYTHING ON THE LINE, and not even a whimper. are the boys a bit tired? who the [censored] cares? not me!! The dockers have had how many shots at goal? tells me the midfielders and forwards are not doing what they should, lazy [censored]!! apologies for the swearing
  8. a team with the season on the line and this is what we dish up
  9. it would be nice but, what would we dish up? more disappointment?
  10. even if we were to win this, no point playing finals. we are literally a rabble
  11. for me, Viney is the apple that upsets the cart. Is the most one dimensional player in the team, doesnt have the ability to influence games nor win them off his own boot. for mine, his leadership is very much in the same vein as Jones, divisive. I realise he is the son of a legend but, wouldnt mind seeing what we could get for him in a trade. I feel we are more dynamic with AB, CO and CP in the middle.
  12. not a finals team. simples. too inconsistent from week to week, quarter to quarter sometimes I think they just like losing. a bit like us i suppose
  13. wow. just wow. and not in a good way
  14. trac will need to kick 2 this quarter
  15. i guess all we need to do is kick 6 goals with the wind. ah if only Melbourne had some balls.
  16. didnt know where to put this. it really does sound like the off field stuff is working really well. just need the boys to play finals, beginning with a win over the dogs this weekend, for the club to truly move forward. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/demons-to-be-free-of-debt-and-afl-control-20200821-p55o40.html
  17. IMO, I would keep AB, he is in a funk right now but his upside is huge. I would put JV out there and see what comes back. He is the most one dimensional player on the team. Keep CO and employ someone like Akermanis / Swan to help him take his game to the next level.
  18. Wont matter who coaches us. will be the same results. Lets be honest, the only reason we are a "club" is because of the AFLs TV deal. When they actually decide not to prop up any clubs, then we will be gone. Could be closer than we think with Covid
  19. I will never bemoan the fact we are never on FTA again. tonight is the exact reason why we are not on FTA. Im going to watch house hunters international instead.
  20. ah Hodgy with the 4 day break fatigue
  21. well, thats as bad as it gets, not going to win the game with goalless quarters
  22. I've always said that there are only 2 margins to win by, 1 point and 101 points. Especially against collingwood. all other margins are meh
  23. i'm just hoping i'm still alive!!
  24. I remember being at Dallas Brooks and the passion in the room was something that I had rarely seen at games. My dad made me follow Melbourne, I only barracked for the dee's to go to the footy with him, otherwise I wasnt allowed to go. He was one of the drunks at the back of the second tier Olympic stand.. it beggars belief but he would drive home sometimes too. I remember being at Dallas Brooks and an old bloke said to me that if I had gone through all the [censored] years like him, i would vote yes too. Finally after all these years, I understand what he was talking about. I am glad that we didnt merge, though 2008-13 were really tough as a supporter, questioned my passion for the game Even though we have been [censored] and are a long way behind every other team I still love the Dee's, my first true love. The only thing that kills me these days is watching Hawthorn win premiership after premiership since the failed merger, while we continued with the status quo. Doesnt help that my brother is a Hawks fan either. Evan at 45 years of age, I still dream of us winning the premiership, always with a kick after the siren. I digress, great episode tho.
