  1. As I noted in another thread, if Sylvia wasn't a mature body, I would look to trade him too. Unfortunately, we need all the experienced bodies we can and as has been noted, we can't trade a FA.
  2. I can only recall two centre clearances for the first three quarters. Both of them got ironic cheers. I reckon we had three in the last quarter.
  3. Should have been a five goal game actually.
  4. Oh and Trenners. He has some pace back. Perhaps it was a confidence thing? He was lightening fast today, but he wasn't slow either. I watched him chase someone right in front of me. Gained on them undoubtedly. That goal he kicked also had depth which he has rarely had on his kicking.
  5. I thought Fitzy was excellent today, but that's a ridiculous call RE: Fitzy being a first class kick. His field kicking today was fantastic, but his goal kicking at times was woeful. That ball drop is horrendous. I think Fitzy will become important depth in our forwardline. With Clark and Hogan to come into the side next year, I can't see a place for Fitzy with Watts on the ground. Still, we want to see competition for spots. That can only be healthy.
  6. Well, the reigning premiers are a five goal better side than us. Some of our decision making and therefore skill execution was poor, but our ball movement on a number of occasions was excellent. We're using the corridor and taking risks, but still have a mind to defend. Our midfield let us down again today. We must get two extra experienced mids that can compete and win some inside ball. I've also worked out what my issue with Terlich is. Despite getting votes on the radio and doing a number of good things, every time he makes a mistake, it results in a goal. So if he makes even five or six errors a game, that means the opposition are usually scoring. Some of his run and carry was important. He reads the play well and when he has some time to think, he is an excellent user by foot. Hopefully he can eradicate these errors from his game or at least where he's making those errors.
  7. A few Demonlanders claimed the umpiring against the Saints was woefully against us. I disagree with that. Against the Saints, it was fair. Today's umpiring however...they never looked like rewarding the majority of our tackles. Some of the worse umpiring I can remember.
  8. Still need to go after Thomas too, 55. But wholeheartedly agree on Stokes and Cross.
  9. That I didn't know. Still, less relevant to him and more to Brendan Julian. Great sense of humour, footballers.
  10. I think the delisting of someone like Davey would depend on who we're looking at replacing him with (the essence of your post, rpfc). It seems obvious but unless the player in an upgrade on Davey, I'd be keeping him. His skills are still excellent, he just doesn't get enough of it and has lost some pace. I'd be keeping Sellar for depth as well personally.
  11. At least those are his actual initials. How would Brendan Goddard feel?
  12. The superstar we originally hoped for was a key position hulking forward. Jack was never going to be that. If he can become consistent, he will become an A grader. Get in now and sign him up on a long term contract.
  13. I'd say their cap is a big problem. They couldn't fit him in. Since Judd's VISY contract expired, the AFL ensured they followed the rules that the rest of us have to abide. That said, since Judd is a veteran, his contract shouldn't have a big bearing on their cap. But who knows?
  14. They needed to get the job done with Judd two years ago. Like the Bulldogs, they took too long to address their KPF deficiencies. They've missed it now.
  15. Interesting theory, if a little far fetched. I don't think Healy is responsible for deliberately flushing out Schwab via McLean. In fact, I'd say he brought a lot of needless pain to the club. Schwab would have lost his job anyway following the Essendon game IMO. Not being a Melbourne person, I can't see his motives in this. I think the McLean thing was his attempt at 'hard hitting journalism'. On The Couch tends to get a few big admissions though. You could say that Essendon may have used it as a forum to test the waters with Watson the other night.
  16. Exactly. I took rjay's post to mean that PJ had spoken to more than one.
  17. I'd be offering Jack a four year deal. $450,000 a year for a guy who is about to enter his prime.
  18. I'd go Garlett too. We have enough leadership in our forwardline alone now that he would be well supported. The move from WA to VIC does worry me though. He seems to be settled now with his girlfriend and her family. What happens when you rip out stability and replace it with high pressure situations and expectations?
  19. Agree. His pace, skills and decision making seem solid. Could add some more zip alongside Blease.
  20. Nope. Unfortunately. That'd be nice. I don't anymore. Just that they are the only two being realistically considered.
  21. Apparently Roos is the only one we've spoken to.
  22. I just think if you look at the premiership sides of recent times, it's won in the midfield, not by a single full forward. I know you're not saying he'd win it single-handedly, but Carlton's strength is their midfield. If you trade away your best mid with another on the verge of retirement, very quickly it becomes a C grade midfield. However, I think it's worth asking in most of these situations.
