  1. Are you joking RE: Grimes? One of our worst kicks.
  2. I may have misunderstood you here, but I actually think we're more likely to get draft assistance from the AFL if Roos is on board. I wouldn't think his holding out would benefit the club.
  3. And attract young players, as well as opposition players.
  4. Yep, hate him. But if he walks back through the door again, I'll welcome him as a demon. Let's be honest, our midfield needs all the help it can get.
  5. In recent years the cheersquad has handed out free tickets. We're happy to give our allocation away, because we never get any supporters down there. I'm going down there for the first time since 2011's 186. We purchased tickets a few weeks ago. I'm told they're all gone and it's a long drive to be turned around at the gates.
  6. It's very difficult to gauge Craig's actual impact. There are two major factors that make things tough. 1) Neeld has proved to be one of the worst coaches of VFL/AFL history, so we're coming from an extremely low base. 2) We played St Kilda, Bulldogs and a coasting Sydney. I'm not saying he hasn't improved the team. They are playing far more committed football than they were a month ago. He certainly has instilled confidence within the group, but we're looking for someone that would take us all the way. Very tough to judge whether he is the right man at this point. I'd say he's just as good as Eade though. Personally, Williams is just in front of him, although Craig's knowledge and relationships with the current playing list bodes well for his appointment. In essence, I think we have to be careful that as a supporter base and club, we don't get sucked in to settling for second-best. We must not settle for vaguely competitive. That's how I'd describe us over the last three weeks. It must also be noted that without a full pre season with the team, we won't really know what Craig is fully capable of either. I think it's all a moot point though, as Roos is pretty much a sure thing.
  7. Incorrect. It's pretty clear no one will be able to match our offer, because our offer is the AFL's offer.
  8. True, but I can't see it happening next year. 2015, maybe.
  9. I think so. Or Fitzy off the bench. Or Watts off the bench. He could play anywhere. Swing him back or forward depending on the momentum of the game. While I'd rotate Fitzy him between the wing and forward 50. I love him for his leadership and clear love of the club, but I don't rate Grimes' disposal at all. Turnover machine. I know he hasn't had a lot of experience, but I'm never comfortable when he has the ball in his hands. I'd play him off the bench too.
  10. I was disappointed when I heard. Three years isn't long enough to win a flag. I'd prefer a five year deal with a succession plan. That at least gives you a bit of time.
  11. No chance, but get in Sewell's ear. Three year deal, at least $500,000 per year. Should have got him last time.
  12. It's apparently not. Negotiation stage. As some have mentioned, Micky O being sought for as an assistant seems to suggest he's one of them.
  13. Given they're all extremely mobile (with the exception perhaps of Dawes in this context), I see no reason why we couldn't fit them all in.
  14. Spot on, DF. Apparently it's 2 to 3 years.
  15. Dawes, Watts, Hogan, Clark and Howe is mouth-watering. Fitzy could become surfeit. A draft pick is not necessarily tangible talent. Fitzpatrick has shown he can play the game at the highest level now.
  16. Well, the first and second pegs may have to go in at once for the deal to be struck.
  17. I wonder if this sub committee will target people for assistant coaching roles. I'm hearing Roos wants a succession plan ala Longmire. If true that would mean at least one new assistant comes in next year. Of course, Roos would probably want to handpick them.
  18. I'd give a PP up for Sloane. Wouldn't give a first round pick if we don't get a PP though.
  19. I'd be asking for more than Martin or Thomas. Fitzy holds greater value to us over the next year or two than Martin or Thomas would in our side. Essentially, it'd have to be a deal slanted in our favour for me to go it. There's no use trading if you're not getting someone who's going to have an immediate impact. Otherwise we stick simply to the draft.
  20. I agree to an extent with rpfc. It entirely depends in this hypothetically world what is on offer for Fitzpatrick. I'd prefer to keep him, but if we could get a 24-25 A grade midfielder for him, I'd jump at it. Hawthorn were ruthless. It essentially won them a flag and set them up for a decade of power. They've been unlucky to come up against the greatest team of all. It's a fine line. We shouldn't be gung-ho about trading someone of Fitzy's upside, but if the right offer is there, we shouldn't be too conservative.
  21. I just skip entire pages of his petty squabbling with x poster and then y poster. Fitzy should be persisted with and he continues to surprise me every week.
  22. Not a particularly reliable source, hence trying to get some more info. Thought it was worth chucking out there though.
