  1. We don't know what he is. Currently is interim coach. There is no Director of Sports Performance.
  2. Gawn needs to improve his ruck work, but at least Gawn stays on his feet in the centre square. I reckon Jamar ends up on his backside every second centre bounce. Gawn certainly has him covered around the ground. I think Gawn's work around the ground outweighs anything Jamar provides...BUT we must be very careful with trading Jamar. We don't need anymore players offside with us.
  3. Easier said than done, H. I like the idea of Cross and Dal Santo, but can't see them making a drastic change either. We also have to get them here. Granted, Roos as coach might open a few doors.
  4. Very good point, DD. Hadn't occurred to me.
  5. Totally agree. I wasn't advocating the drafting of Wines over Toumpas. I think the latter will be a fine player. But it was worth noting (before Wines) Port already had the makings of a good young midfield. Don't you worry, my fingers are crossed for Roos as well.
  6. Yes it is. Until we get a midfield, nothing will change drastically. Port already had the makings of a good midfield. They just either couldn't get on the park or were young. Ollie Wines has obviously helped their midfield group as well. It's a great pity Viney hasn't played every game this season. It just means he'll take longer to adjust to AFL level. He'll almost be like a first year player next year.
  7. I know it's probably not the thread to discuss it, but Roos was quite firm in his assessment of Terlich. Basically said that it's all well and good to collect 27 disposals across half back, but if your man kicks 4 or 5 on you, how well have you really played? I like it. Also really enjoyed Roos' assessment of Terlich and Matt Jones' work rate in two passages of play.
  8. Oh I don't think either of them are very likely. I was speaking purely hypothetically.
  9. See I think Trengove's got a little something back over the last few weeks and should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Toumpas struggled in patches yesterday, but I also think he needs an extended run in the AFL.
  10. Although we have to be careful about who we simply move on, particularly if Jamar shows leadership around the club, in the case of GWS offering us Adams or Shiel you'd take it every day of the week. Thinking we should get a pick plus one of their young guns for an aging at best 'ordinary' ruckman sounds like biased optimism to me.
  11. Barry Manilow and a honeymoon suite sounds a little more consensual.
  12. Wow. I know it's in jest, but massively problematic.
  13. I'd be waiting to see if he continues it into next year, DF. We've made that mistake before. Let's see him show consistency and then we can offer reward.
  14. What I'd like to see is us able to hold a side goalless for at least the first minute of a game. Cannot remember the last time it happened. Who makes way for Magner, Jack? I agree we lack clearance players, but it really depends on who you're sitting out for Magner. Bit of tongue in cheek there, Jnr.
  15. Disagree, mate. I've watched him chase a number of opponents this year and hasn't looked anywhere near as quick. He's never gained on them either. I remember (I think) a Collingwood ruckman running away from him with no trouble at all. Today he looked quicker. There's no doubt in my mind. He seems to be moving more freely too. I'd point to the goal he kicked today as evidence. The ability to turn and kick it from 45 was a marked improvement. I watched him fail to get the distance from 30 out earlier in the season.
  16. As I noted in another thread, if Sylvia wasn't a mature body, I would look to trade him too. Unfortunately, we need all the experienced bodies we can and as has been noted, we can't trade a FA.
  17. I can only recall two centre clearances for the first three quarters. Both of them got ironic cheers. I reckon we had three in the last quarter.
  18. Oh and Trenners. He has some pace back. Perhaps it was a confidence thing? He was lightening fast today, but he wasn't slow either. I watched him chase someone right in front of me. Gained on them undoubtedly. That goal he kicked also had depth which he has rarely had on his kicking.
  19. I thought Fitzy was excellent today, but that's a ridiculous call RE: Fitzy being a first class kick. His field kicking today was fantastic, but his goal kicking at times was woeful. That ball drop is horrendous. I think Fitzy will become important depth in our forwardline. With Clark and Hogan to come into the side next year, I can't see a place for Fitzy with Watts on the ground. Still, we want to see competition for spots. That can only be healthy.
  20. Well, the reigning premiers are a five goal better side than us. Some of our decision making and therefore skill execution was poor, but our ball movement on a number of occasions was excellent. We're using the corridor and taking risks, but still have a mind to defend. Our midfield let us down again today. We must get two extra experienced mids that can compete and win some inside ball. I've also worked out what my issue with Terlich is. Despite getting votes on the radio and doing a number of good things, every time he makes a mistake, it results in a goal. So if he makes even five or six errors a game, that means the opposition are usually scoring. Some of his run and carry was important. He reads the play well and when he has some time to think, he is an excellent user by foot. Hopefully he can eradicate these errors from his game or at least where he's making those errors.
  21. A few Demonlanders claimed the umpiring against the Saints was woefully against us. I disagree with that. Against the Saints, it was fair. Today's umpiring however...they never looked like rewarding the majority of our tackles. Some of the worse umpiring I can remember.
  22. Still need to go after Thomas too, 55. But wholeheartedly agree on Stokes and Cross.
