  1. Touche. Let's change that to a trade has been agreed. ie. GWS have said we won't stop you, as long as we get what we want from your team of choice.
  2. That's purely speculation, chook. He has put off contract talks until the end of the season. As has been said to death in this thread, people better start getting use to this FA paradigm.
  3. I reckon Cameron's signed somewhere else. So it might not be the tank in his case.
  4. Or Grimes. If it's Terlich for Grimes, it's one butcher for another. Oh, the state of our list.
  5. He's got such brilliant balance and superbly clean hands that kid.
  6. Yeah, Misson came out and said that in the press, I'm pretty sure. He and Neeld kept saying on the MFC website that it would take them three pre seasons to get the list up to AFL conditioning.
  7. My mail is he loves the club and there's no talk of moving on. It's not quite literally from the horses mouth ( ), but I'm surprised he hasn't re-signed yet.
  8. Interesting point, Mike. We know Dawes certainly won't be playing ruck. If we got Wright, that'd free up Hogan. Still, that midfield. We must strengthen the midfield. Early picks are the key to solve that problem.
  9. I just can't see Roos simply stepping back into the shadows, if we can't find a successor. I know he's apparently said that he definitely wouldn't coach past three years (I didn't see FC, so I'm not sure exactly what he said), but I'm still relatively sure he'll stay on as head coach past three years. Particularly, if we are on the fringe of the eight or in it by the end of 2016.
  10. Thanks, mate. Yeah, I knew his Dad had played for Carlton, but I think we hold the aces in terms of what we can offer.
  11. Are you angling at wanting the MFC to take Duggan for our half back line, spirit? Hypothetically, let's say Roos and co rate the top 10 relatively evenly, we may try to trade one of our top picks for a player and a mid first rounder (ala the Tyson/Salem deal). It is entirely feasible that this could happen and we do require damaging foot skills...
  12. Okay, let's not derail another thread, with the Wines debate. Meanwhile, who would you take, spirit, with our other pick if we used our Frawley compo on Shiel ? Not disagreeing with you. Just interested.
  13. Where did you hear this? Can't see him getting there.
  14. I agree, W, but why would he come? It doesn't appear logical. Would we offer him a three year deal? Even then, he might be able to get that at Sydney if he plays it year by year. They have a side that will play deep in the finals for the rest of his career span. Okay, so money can talk, but I don't think we'd be offering enough to make it worth his while. Close to no chance he'd entertain this, IMO.
  15. I wonder if he's signed elsewhere? Very interesting. This will only send the rumour mill into overdrive. < Exhibit A.
  16. I think if GWS think they'll lose both players next year, we could get Shiel and Treloar for picks 3 & 4. That's feasible, IMO.
  17. I consider the first Port loss as one we should have won. I didn't think 4 wins would be a pass mark for me at this stage, but I was also realistic enough not to expect more than 6 for the year. We could still very well get those 6 too. So, yep, pass mark for me too. One caveat though - it has highlighted just how bad our list is. If we're to improve next season, we'll need a significant turn over of the list.
  18. I guess that was my point indirectly, Mike. : ) Agreed.
  19. Why are you certain he'll deliver us a top 5 pick then? If he won't be missed by the bottom 2 side, why would we get band 1 compo for him? I'm not saying we won't, but the amount of DLers who have said he won't be missed is ridiculous. He will be missed. We might get a good deal for him, but our backline will be weaker for it.
  20. I think you have it with the composure and belief angle. Our fitness seems to be pretty good. Not as good as Port's, but if you looked at many of their players yesterday, they appeared exhausted in the third term and we seemed fine. When you've got belief and an ability to execute, it's amazing how the luck will come your way. Fill the team with more good decision makers and we'll win these games. I think we've been one of the best four win sides I can recall. If we did sit on 10 wins, with Brisbane and GWS to come, we'd be a chance of sneaking into the 8. On this basis, if we can improve our squad and learn how to win, it's not beyond doubt that we win 10-12 games next year. That said, we need to inject a lot more good decision makers, if that's to happen.
  21. What they're obviously failing to account for, is the idea that trading can be a win-win for both clubs involved. Narrow-sighted journalists? Never.
  22. I think we'll only go to the draft if we can't find a suitable trade for our first and/or second pick. Obviously, we'll draft after the first round, but I can see him trading picks all over the place for recycled players. It's what I'd do and given his history, that's what I expect he'll do if the players are out there.
  23. Sometimes, but Roos moving Watts to half back yesterday changed the complexion of the game. It's no surprise we play better when he does. He's our best user of the footy. Get more good users of the footy and we'll play better consistently and spread the load. You'll also find Jack will become a very, very damaging player. Roos has coached him beautifully this year. This season there's no doubt he's improved, his lack of physicality annoys the hell out of me, but he's even laid some tackles this year. Each player responds differently and needs different kinds of coaching (see nurturing). Jack seems to be responding to that perfect balance Roos has of nurture vs firmness. Still has some work to do though.
