Why are the Saints so attractive?
Can we get in on a trade for Gresham? Has that little bit of x factor that would suit our forward line. Has stagnated a bit in my view. Maybe a second rounder this year and a future 3rd or 4th to give them picks.

Why are the Saints so attractive?
The other thing about St Kilda's strategy here is if they don't land say 2 of those guys that have nominated them, how can they possibly say to anyone they're trying to lure next year, that they'll definitely get the deal done? @Macca what do you think of St Kilda's strategy here? I'm keen to know because you're a big advocate of known talent versus the draft lottery.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Not only has he been cruelled by injuries, I'm not entirely sure he's the type built for the modern game. Seems like a goal square gorilla with a lack of tank. I supposed it'd depend on what we give up for him.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Quite unlike our mate Chook to drop in briefly and drop straight back out again, with no further word.

Farewell Sam Frost
That should have been 'Frost is an athlete who likes to run...'

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team
That looks more like 'Jon' and his drunk boss. And is that Murdoch at the front there?

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team
I'll be long dead in the ground before I take someone with name 'Jon' seriously, and even then it'll be difficult. The guy not only looks like a potato, he is one.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ED LANGDON
Completely agree. I'd love top 4 but it's less realistic. Come on Burgess. ? No pressure. ?

Absolutely on the core group and games player. We're probably at least another season off that, but unless we make dramatic improvement next year, my feeling is Goodwin will be gone and we may find ourselves back at the drawing board with some of that core requesting trades outta there (ala Adelaide - doomsday). I think we can win 12 games in 2020. If we're around about the mark come September and our game style of crash and bash chaos stands up, we could go deep again with this team. I'm completely with you on ANB with the traded/delisted multiple times. I was surprised he got another contract this year, but I'll be fascinated to see how Burgess goes with these guys. It starts with trust in the body first, then trust in the game plan, then trust in one's ability to elevate above it all and really take that next step. When we've played really good footy in the last 3 years, ANB has been a progressively stronger part of that, but only when he's gut-running into space or tackling hard off the back of the square. I hope Goodwin has a few new tricks up his sleeve, but still keeps the game plan simple. There has been such a dearth of on field leadership that the simpler, the better.

Buckenara: Dees List Overrated
It shows how important a lack of injuries are to a team. We've barely got depth, but if we could have a Richmond 2017-2018-like run of injury-less games, we'd be a big shot at the top 4 if we get our systems right (and with the aid of a softer draw). Still reckon we need to also find a goal kicker with a bit of x factor that could bob up at an important moment and turn the game (like a Jeffy when he was in good form, but with a harder edge).

Be interesting to see how the purple mob go next year. If they end up losing Hill, having already lost Langdon, they might struggle on the big expanses of Optus, like we've struggled on the G.

The guy he actually reminds me of on our list already is Harmes. At least from a career trajectory up to the end of 2018, albeit he's been more consistent for longer than James. Harmes used to be an absolute butcher because he'd run all day and by the time he got it, he'd be so fatigued that he'd turn it over. It's a great point in that with more pre seasons under the belt, gut runners like that can improve their skill by foot. If the likes of Harmes, Tom McDonald, ANB, Tomlinson and Langdon all get a decent pre season in, we'll have quite a few gut runners there, which will certainly help us win a few more games on the G and counter the spread of teams like Collingwood and Richmond, who have consistently murdered us on the outside for 3+ years now.

Absolutely agree mate.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
My favourite non-MFC player. Absolute gun. Wish we could get him one day. The opposition would never win a stoppage with Oliver and Cripps in the same team.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
I'd take that dreadful Paddy Cripps bloke off their hands too if they want.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ED LANGDON
Great post. Spot on mate. I'm not a big fan of Langdon's disposal, but his outside gut running to position will fit in perfectly to our 2018 game style. Here's hoping for a positive and uninterrupted pre season for our whole list.

Good call mate.

Great post as usual mate. I still think we (and the club) want a bit more x factor in that forward line to go with Melksham, Hannan, Spargo and AVB. We really need a match winner. Unless Weideman really comes out of nowhere, we'll need to trade or draft that player in.

Petrevski-Seton is trending upwards and is a good zippy mid, albeit not a particular goal scorer at this stage. I can't think of any other smalls we consider other than Fisher.

I'm sure it's in jest, but obviously this would set a ridiculous and unsustainably, unfair precedence.
