When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
praha replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
Doubt he'll play. Don't worry some VFL [censored] will come in for him and kick 7.0. -
What a stupid comment. I'm guessing most AFL players are Christian.

Thread title update please! fmd I almost started crying.

Our current squad is our bargaining chip. Playing alongside the likes of Brayshaw, VB, Petracca, Hogan, McDonald. We're in a much better position now to snag free agents than we were 12, 24 and 48 months ago. Getting young talent is easy. Attracting A-Grade talent, you need to show them there's hope, that their career will be worth something. I think we have that hope now. They can be the final piece of the puzzle.

Yet again we have a chance to knock off two records against the Saints this week. 2 in a row. Beat the Saints. Pity we couldn't get over the line a month ago. Must win this week. -
Yes.
-
He was never that good. Slow and one dimensional. Unreliable down back and not clean enough. Jamie Bennell 2.0 but without the pace. Only in the side because of Kent.
-
That was the most Paul Roos win we have had since he's been coach. Probably a good thing. Disciplined down back.
-
Absolutely horrid. They don't deserve to win this.
-
Uninspiring and dumb.

JKH responded well to that dropped mark which almost cost us a goal. He's still a depth player, nothing more. Only in the side because Kent isn't. Still, I'm glad he took the game on after an embarrassing brain fart. He [censored] himself at that contest.

Don't write off Brisbane just yet. They're doing well at stoppages and out tackling us. If they can straighten up and be more coherent going forward, they'll turn it on. Must keep applying same level of pressure behind the ball like we have been. Too much space in the middle and they'll easily outrun us and get on a roll.

A loss today would be a massive setback. I think it would lock in the spoon for us. Absolute must-win.
-
Gee that video is quintessential Melbourne. - Jamar fluffing a mark in defense and giving up a goal. - Frawley turning back with his hands in the air complaining to his teammates after a Brisbane goal - And my favourite: a highlight package of an unstoppable forward who only 12 months last would retire from the game.
-
I can see howe you would come to that conclusion. Seems as though this club is always in harmes way. I'll let myself out.

My number one pet hate about the site's coverage is when they do the "Past record doesn't matter" article. I've seen it about 5 times this year. Obviously Burgs is asking the question, "What does the playing group make of its recent poor record against this week's opposition?" And the answer is always the same: "We don't talk about it." More to that, the fact pretty much everyone around here thinks we'll lose generally suggests that we'll win. That said, we're going to lose. And bad.
-
TAB.

If Brisbane wins, that would suggest they're not tanking. Our percentage is not great and if we lose every remaining game and even snag a win, it would drop and we'd freefall. We're paying $26 for the spoon, $11 for 17th, and $7 for 16th. They are all amazing odds that I'll jump on if we lose this weekend.

I don't think I'd go to another game for the year. I know that we all hate losing but I'm genuinely sick of having my weekend ruined. I think that if we lose this week it'll be the nail in the coffin and we'll finish last. If we win, it could snowball into something better...but we say that after every win. 4 wins after round 15, I'm just kind of over it. If we lose, I'm going to make an effort to cut out Melbourne for a few weeks. I don't care if they win during that period. I'll just go out during the game and leave my phone at home, and just enjoy myself. I've forgotten what it feels like to actually *enjoy* watching my team. And I've forgotten what it feels like to go to a game *knowing* they're a very high certainty of winning. I haven't felt that since 2005, 2006. I don't want to boycott this team but I think that it would be good for me. I'm seriously devastated every time they lose when I go in knowing they can win if they have a genuine crack. Last Saturday actually ruined my weekend. And my girlfriend's the same. It literally puts a strain on our relationship. We look forward to this [censored] every week and we go in excited and plan our day around it, and then we end up fighting lol

I think it would be in his best interests to stay at Melbourne. He's getting the apprenticeship he needs and has the capacity to build and grow his own squad. They'd need to offer him $1 million a year for him to move, which they won't do and would be stupid to. If he were to go to Adelaide it would be the romantic factor. I don't think he'll go. He'd be silly to. That's because Roos has been Melbourne'd. One and a half seasons is all it takes for your opinion and skill level to be put into question.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

The Guardian's AFL coverage is about all I can stand from that publication. Actually, it's about all I can stand from any mainstream media outlet these days.
