  1. We drop Weeds and we go in VERY short. He brings the ball down and is at every contest. No Brainer.
  2. I'd much rather throw money at Dusty.
  3. Woah, deep We miss what we got him for, though. He'd have beenexceptionally useful last week. We had no answer for their talls.
  4. I don't suspect it's a *massive* hit as we're going to see membership boost and crowd increases. But agree it looks bad. Like we're state-sponsored or something. Only thing I can think of is that PJ and Co. aren't budging on price and would rather sell at a premium than lower the price. Could also be a few potential suitors waiting it out. Very important we perform and win when on FTA. ANZAC Day Eve match is very important.
  5. Must have been a little news tidbit. Maybe Hogan contract news or something.
  6. Oscar is certainly Melbourne fans' favourite player to hate. When we lose or perform poorly it's generally his fault. Forget the fact he's played like 20 games and plays as a defender with as much confidence as a 200 gamer, and has also -- coincidentally -- been part of a team that has started a rise up the ladder. Make no mistake that he along with his bro are part of the reason why we are improving. I'm much more concerned about Tyson, Viney, and Vince whenever they have the ball in the back half.
  7. He's going to kill it. The way some carry on around here... I think the problem is that Gawn has been part and parcel of the only semi-decent Melbourne team in a decade so now that he's injured we're a rabble again. Spencer exists for this very reason and is most definitely up to the task. He's a different kind of player but I can't way to see him help us win on Saturday.
  8. Yep that game in the wet. Even then he didn't get much notice. Hoping ANB has a similar breakout game soon.
  9. His breakout game was against the Crows last year.
  10. Jones you'd think will play until 33-34, possibly longer. He's well on his way to 350. No doubt he'll break the club's record.
  11. He should be shown the door with Goodwin tbh.
  12. Needs a couple of weeks at Casey.
  13. His pace worries me. He's very bottom heavy. But he's been very consistent with 1-2 showboat performances a match. High football IQ and great delivery going forward, too.
  14. Spencer will be our Tracey McGrady: played for years in the shadow of better players at his position, and when given a real opportunity absolutely smashes it. He actually doesn't have a choice. He'll have his ups and downs and will make mistakes because that's just the kind of player her is. But he has a very high football IQ and is a ruthless competitor. I have no doubt that by his 5-6th game, many on here will be eating their words. Bookmark in a couple of BOGs.
  15. The club has played it very well. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-04-09/demons-stand-by-jesse-hogan-after-smoking-vision-emerges This is a subtle way of telling the media to back off and give him space. I'm sure it's genuine. But it puts out the fire. Doubtful we'll hear any more about this. Who in the media would dare criticise a young kid for having a dart while his dad's deathly ill?
  16. What are you on about. Earlier in the thread I said him smoking a cigarette is no big deal. It's merely the *look* of him smoking that is bad.
  17. They do. Tobacco is discouraged, not outright banned. I believe the general advice is if you're going to have a cigarette, do it after a match, out of the public eye, and don't overdo it. Hogan broke one of those rules but aside from that it's not massive from a playing perspective. From a PR perspective it's bad
  18. Lol it's just a dart. Was granted a few days off and took advantage. I see AFL players getting tanked and smoking all the time around Richmond and St Kilda.
  19. I'm not saying there is either but he was working hard for long periods suddenly before having played little football for so long. All I'm saying is it shouldn't be a surprise. We ran with and risked a lot with a one-ruck approach. If there wasn't a contingency in place then that would be frustrating. I assume keeping the likes of Spencer in the VFL was for this. I am very confident he will take advantage of his chance. Let's not forget a few years back many on here didn't think much of Gawn. I am honestly looking forward to seeing Spencer play. I think he's a very smart player and grossly underrated by the football negative nannies on here
  20. 2-3 months out. We had to expect this at some point. Playing 90% of game time as the only ruck after playing hardly any footy for 5 seasons. Time for Spencer to step up. Midfield will learn a lot from this. Dare I say it's a blessing in disguise for the league's youngest team.
  21. ANB and Stretch have been similar. "Quiet", but incredibly useful.
  22. Hmm apparently it was a cut that required stitches. Isn't a break or anything so might be okay to go if he has a light training week and it heals.
