WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM SPARROW
DV8 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Add Stretch for 2019. and we have 3 young Hombre`s in the middle, to add to our older hard nuts, + Clarry... Dee 3 Amigo's. Lets see how they shape up, after they're 2018 season. ? -
Fritsch : Fearless Fly . .
-
This also looks very much like Mick Martin from North. ... maybe there's somethin' in the Air, over there. .
-
No, your wrong RJ. I have witnessed his improvement in his play. But NOT in his attitude to become Elite. Nor his efforts for a superior fitness, and the attitude to becoming a dominant AFL player are missing from his AFL vocabulary. For his talents, he's a plodder. He should be further advanced than what he has dished up. Its this amateur attitude, instead of being fully Pro-Minded, which sees him being a complacent AFL player... resting only on his birth talents, and not on his drive of determination. A huge difference. ... this is what I am taking aim squarely at. This is what made Yze not a household name... Green not a household name... robbo not a household name. All rested only on natural gifts, without the levels of commitment and dedication required to got beyond the levels so easily achieved by those few names_ They all underachieved, betraying their natural abilities... and we (Mfc) missed out on flags, for that near enough culture of the time. .
-
boys will be boys... Men will be Men. ... and others just please themselves, and probably like spectating just as much... lets hope Christian doesn't turn out the latter. schools out christian... and so is the apprenticeship... time to perform boyo.
-
I imagine they will unload Lever a tad, and start him back with some distance running around the TAN, to get the knee settled down after the cleanup.???
-
If you right Dspcbl... Tracca is being shunted tighter into a one dimensional pocket . I hope he hurries up and builds his tank, or he might go the way of wattshisface, & Dom. This club is taking no prisoners these days. players have to give it all and improve, or seeya. So do I EH... I've been wondering now with his supposed bigger size and frame, his natural hands for in close,,, plus his dash, that he might get a look in with th inside mids. We can never have enough skilled options around the team.
-
Well, they're lucky were not down at the Junction then. They would need a new building.
-
Bloody love that our supporters and admin's are using some gentle profanity when talking excitedly about our boys chances. Attitude and daring, goes hand in hand with these same mannerisms. Dare to WIN.!
-
its time that Pertracca was handcuffed to Harmes, all preseason.
-
As far as depth goes. I think we are not covered so well if Jetta gets injured. I think he is key for our setup. Allowing others some freedom.
-
Prior to that, i'm talking about RJ. Prior. When max was content to waste away in the 2nds. His newfound motivation is what brought comments, like the one you quoted. Not until talk of trading him out... did he fire up.
-
cheers Dr. I have a gut feel on some of these recruits. JJordan... I wonder if he's to be understudy to Harmes, to eventually replace Jones, when NJ has had enough. Inside running mid and run with. Nietschke.. I reckon a wing/utility. I think this kid will play just about any running position. Sparrow... I'm not so sure he will play early days? I wonder if he'll take a bit of time learning our ways. Before he gets a run. Its good to hear your comments on Chandler. How does Jordan look with the ball. good allround skills by foot ??? I wonder if he (JJ) and Nietschke get first call ups ?
-
Yes, it is time he (pet racca) felt a little pressure, from inside this club... the sort we applied to Maxy a few years back now.. didn't do him any harm, and he has certainly become more motivated since talk of trading him out. Didn't help watts. Didn't help Hogan much. Did help TMc. Has helped Frost. Hasn't helped Garlett as yet. So after all these, poosy catto must get a wriggle on. In AFL terms, hes a Poosy Cat, or if you prefer, a baby amongst men. If you recall, way back. 'Alan Jeans' described a young Dermott Brereton as, "he's just a baby". .
-
I believe Goody is currently contracted until the end of next season, (2019). I reckon we'll extend the contract by 3 Yrs... taking his contract out to the end of (2022) season.
-
Agreed Dr_ This current team setup doesn't have any one dimensional players. "One dimensional", is career suicide these days. And so it should be. Yes, players should have their specialties... but they should play many roles during the course of a game.. and Petracca solely as a forward, is not good enough for a player of his capabilities. We, the team, needs more of him, than simply prowling the inside 50Mtrs area.
-
130 odd games. he qualifies. Looking at Natalie, she definately qualifies.
-
He's the right man for us, at this right time. Things may one day change, but right now things are going along well. 3 or 4 Yrs I reckon.
-
The point is... to stand tall, you have to one day step out of the shadow your in. We have never done that and in the 50's it didn't matter so much, as we had the MCG to ourselves Re footy... & fire brimstone coaches who knew what they were about. But the world started changing, players got payed more, and political correctness started to become a thing, and a sort of war against the old world ways started simmering. Educated people/admins were becoming precious and scheming. and more vindictive. The world changed, just as it did in the politics we see today around the world. We, have never stood up... and so we have reaped just what we sowed... very little. Whilst other clubs risked all... put it all on the line, gambled and Won, and Lost some times, but all the while, their clubs grew. they recovered their losses, and grew again. I want to say just one thing about this... "Nothing Ventured".... Let's fight for OUR In-deependance. .
-
what Ch-10 ?
-
Agreed, and simple answer Bbo...IMO, just go for it. Don't question your/himself, or the role... put that stuff out of mind, and go for it. See ball, get ball, and over again. No beg pardons. I think Petracca, imv/assumption... seems like a little boy lost, as you see. In that he seems too polite to make waves. ... I want to see him break the china, smash the plates like a bull in a china shop, it that's what it takes... to get the ball and push it forward. F()c& the role, and just go for it, until he finds the rhythm of his style. Let it all hang out, and the coaches can smooth out the wrinkles, one at a time, to smooth him out slowly, as he goes along. I wonder if he plays 'inhibited' of his abilities. for fear of making mistakes. Tear it up Tracca, make mayhem... and pssst. get much, much, fitter. Become the player that you could be. Do not fear your ability. Or anything else, for that matter. Go for it, don't hold back. Break loose from your inner negatives. .

No !!! We don't want apron strings. Or we will never grow up as a club. We can stand side by side... as equals with the Mcc. But definately not with apron strings. Or we will always be the illegitimate son. And our fears will always be cast in stone, just as Peter-Pan always remained as he ever was. We have to make the change to become an Elder of the building........ just like the Pies are, and the Tigers are, and the Bummers are. This is an attitudinal thing of independence. Maybe like when young Murdoch broke away from his dad Rupert, and returned home to Australia with his wife, years back. Now young Murdoch is creating his own way in the wide world. He's not a boy under his dads spell any longer. He IS his own master. This is what Melbourne has to become, so it can make the big decisions at board level... and why our boards of the past have failed us all. Because the club in the past didn't have the balls... and so neither did its boards. A lack of courage & commitment. due to having been 'treated' by a Sugar-Daddy. We go forward as equal partners with the Mcc... or we won't go forward, at all. .
-
Excuses are coming out of the woodwork, just as it was for Watts. A little bit,,, just a little bit less love and affection & gushing over him, and a lot more 'incognito', will aid petracca's development. He should have to fight to get his attention/affection. He gets it hand delivered, just as Sylv did as well. And it''s not helping him, this way.
-
If Sylvia was entering his AFL career in the past coupe of years under Roosy, and this current setup we have now... he would be a far different player than what he was for us earlier. He would have developed in a far different way and environment.

Great film "The Professional", loved it... and agreed Jean Reno. I love his acting style.
