  1. No !!! We don't want apron strings. Or we will never grow up as a club. We can stand side by side... as equals with the Mcc. But definately not with apron strings. Or we will always be the illegitimate son. And our fears will always be cast in stone, just as Peter-Pan always remained as he ever was. We have to make the change to become an Elder of the building........ just like the Pies are, and the Tigers are, and the Bummers are. This is an attitudinal thing of independence. Maybe like when young Murdoch broke away from his dad Rupert, and returned home to Australia with his wife, years back. Now young Murdoch is creating his own way in the wide world. He's not a boy under his dads spell any longer. He IS his own master. This is what Melbourne has to become, so it can make the big decisions at board level... and why our boards of the past have failed us all. Because the club in the past didn't have the balls... and so neither did its boards. A lack of courage & commitment. due to having been 'treated' by a Sugar-Daddy. We go forward as equal partners with the Mcc... or we won't go forward, at all. .
  2. This club has to lose its fear of having a go. Most millionaires have gone broke at some time in their lives. Big businesses get government's to bend for them, so they can prosper. Yet the Mfc quiver when it comes to big money & being entrepreneurial. If we can't find a Sugar-Daddy or some Benneyfactor... we wither away in the dark corner of the party. This has to change... or we stay just as we've been the past 50 Yrs. If we had a different nature as a club, it would be us in the old Olympic Swimming Centre... instead of Ol Fatface Ed & his lot. . We have only our own conservative small Inward Thinking for this weak culture of NoN-Progress... for the past half century, and being tied to the Mcc apron strings for so long, like an illegitimate child, is what caused this Club Impotence. We've been fortunate that the AFL came a running this time to our Aid and bailed us out with PJ and Roosy, & to a degree, Goody as well. Our Home Base is the most important thing, to build our own Independent Identity... away from & out of the shadow of the Mcc. Cut the Apron-Strings, and stand Tall, Proud & Independent.
  3. Sorry, I thought you were talking about AAMI stadium, the building. I didn't realise you wee talking about Gosch's. That's easy, we just get the show at Gosch's realigned, so we can abutt our new home building. "It's just a jump to the left" for that rectangular training pitch. I'll take my line-marker & tape down there after midnight tomorrow, and get things started. ?
  4. DV8 replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
wow ! ... that's where they took they're inspiration from, for sure...
  5. Why would rugby or soccer move out of AAM stadium, the stadium was built as a rectangular stadium for a reason to house state Rugby League, Union... and Soccer. It is purpose built for them. We are the odd bods in that stadium.
  6. I wish Bernie Vince was able to play for, and skipper Casey this year.
  7. "sparro's" = dawn. or If you like "Sue"... 'my name is sue' respect to Johnny Cash
  8. So, we here are all effinicks. de league o' Deemonethnocists.
  9. ... just to keep the forlorn Watts lovers happy, within this club. by the way... was there any truth in the rumour that the Power decided to recruit Watts during they're blackout days... when the lights went out.
  10. Gosch's is already flat land, which will not need excavating the training field... only excavations required for basement parking. Building on this parkland which is minimal size, & value to the amenity of the area. The Building adds public value in that it gives cover to the tram stops, which helps in the heat of summer and the cold and rain of winter. Yarra Park, I believe, would need excavations to level the site for the training fields... and more expense involved in spanning above the Jolimont Rail-lines, for construction. Also is not a high profile site.
  11. This greens-pace on the corner shown here, would be nowhere near us. We would be 100+ Mtrs up the road, to the next tram stop. I'll try and do a screen capture. A better one, of the site I'm talking about. [ the green-space abutting up to the Clay Tennis Courts ]. - - - - - - - - - - this is the site here, pictured above. ... so build over the tramlines up to the Clay Courts on the west of Picture. and across the lawn area across to the Railway pedestrain tunnel servicing the West end of the station. And building over 'Olympic Boulevard' spanning the tram lines and across the nature strip, past the trees, and just slightly overhanging 'Gosch's Paddock'... with stairs down into our Medical/Training facility block on ground level Gosch's. The decking over 'Olympic Boulevard' would include an outdoor viewing deck, serviced by kiosk/cafe... with viewing area and some tables chairs for Tea/Coffee Fingerfood etc. Demon-shop inside, which could also double selling the food and drinks to this deck level. Above this level could be a Glazed in area Re Lounge, with licensed Bar and Tables & Chairs, Seated Dining, for our smaller events, etc. This is how I see it... my hope for it. . This Picture below, shows the land for the building above 'Olympic Boulevard''. And shows the section of 'Gosch's Paddock', where our Oval should be located... with same Size, Shape and Orientation, as the McG. Sorry I can't crop the picture, to better suit the size of the building block
  12. The ground level does not require a lot of space... as the main building is above this level. And secure below ground car parking as well. Ground level would only be entrance way and some undercover car spaces, and deliveries. . Which side of roadway is being altered?
  13. That's exactly my vision... That the oval would be aligned with the same exact orientation as the McG... and the same playing surface shape and size. If you study the google image supplied in plan view and in elevation view you will start to see the concept. Ha !!! my first successful posted screenshot... This Image is to show an elevation angle from 'Olympic Boulevard'... showing the street view to Richmond Station platform levels and elevations, to help visualise how a building could be... The building would be about 50Mtrs west of this image,,, but the image is to show how a building with basement car-park and storage could be built, and with some ground level car-parking and entrances to the Building. I'm imagining a 5 level building... which would include a secure basement level for in-house parking and storage facilities. Extending up to a Promenade level, with an entrance out onto the Richmond-Station/McG Promenade... The Promenade would be built over the Station and Train services, extending all the way along the rail line, to I imagine Gate-1 of the Ponsford Stand. L/5_ Promenade Flr... with entrance out onto the Rail Promenade. L/4_ 2nd Flr... just above what is Station Platform levels. L/3_ 1st Flr... just lower than Station Platform levels... approx' rail-track level. L/2_ Ground floor entrances, deliveries and parking. L/1_ Basement car-park - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is the site I'm referring to for our Building to go on, showing the Tramline and stops on the western side of Picture, and a Richmond-Station city end entrance at the end of the pathway on right-hand side of Pic'... We would I think, need 4 Above-Ground, levels for our home base. The level above the Tram-Line Catenary, would bridge over 'Olympic Boulevard'... allowing a raised deck viewing area across Gosch's Paddock, with a small Ground-Level Building attached to house Training Facilities, with massage tables, Doctors/Physio room, etc. This image would show the view looking back west at our Home Base building... which would bridge over this street-scape, extending across to Gosch's Paddock. Allowing one or two levels of viewing, one open-air deck, with cafe... and perhaps another viewing area upstairs... a behind glass windows area, which would house a Bar, Lounge & eatery. This image shows what would be the view, adjacent to our Home-Base Ground-Level Entrance & undercover carpark. Looking across 'Olympic Boulevard' toward our Training Oval... around the Wing area. The Tram Catenary seen above, would be suspended under our buildings concrete slab, which extends out across the street and over the footpath bordering Gosch's. So the concrete Deck would run across the boulevard, and past the trees, extending over and sheltering the footpath which abuts Gosch's. The Deck could be built with 3 openings through it, allowing the 3 trees to remain and grow through and above the outdoor Viewing deck. The deck would have access down to 'Gosch's'... where a Training and Medical Room Suite would be located. I see the potential for two upper-level viewing areas, One Open and another above that, Enclosed. .
  14. Nor hidden a a treelined cul-de-sac... off broadway. We are not the stuffy Melbourne club. We should be out & about for all to see, and know its us. High Profile site. We are the original Australian Rules footy club, for Hells sake.. the Melbourne Footy Club. Where all are welcome, to come and to enjoy. a Three or Four story building, adjoining Richmond station, and bridging over the 'Olympic Boulevard' Tram lines and footpaths, & that peers over and through the trees surrounding Gosch's Paddock is Us. Building across Olympic Boulevard is easier and cheaper to do, than to build above and over the Jolimont Rail-line. And especially so, in conjunction with the building over of the Richmond Railyards and lines... that will join the McG to the Richmond station, in near future.
  15. We must be based next to the Richmond Railway Station. Our social hub has to be right at the station and overlook our training facility. Even if we have to build over Olympic Boulevard to do that. Easy access to public transport is a MUST. For dining patrons and for our supporters with disability. Not to mention functions before and after. Its time this Demon outfit was turned into a True Blue Aussie-Rules CLUB. for all people. An Social & Office setup above the section of tram tracks that turn past the Clay Tennis Courts of Tennis Australia would benefit public transport users as it will allow some undercover shelter for Hot Summer'y or Winter'y conditions, servicing the precinct. It would need be built Over the Tram tracks & the section of parkland at opposite 112 Olympic Boulevard Melbourne Vic, and across Olympic Boulevard right to the edge of Gosch's Paddock... Overseeing the training grounds. https://www.google.com/maps/place/112+Olympic+Blvd,+Melbourne+VIC+3004/@-37.8243201,144.9869602,418m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x6ad642943affc621:0x23259ce926eaf48e!8m2!3d-37.8245886!4d144.9868238!5m1!1e4 .
  16. I thought they aren't running at all Dc... but more power-walking, 'back to the future'. 'ere's your Guy Dc... 'strutin past his electorates'. Blue-ribbon team in-tow.

We have to stop thinking of making the top 8 as a WIN.... it is not. Top 8 is half (50%) of the competition... Top 5 is a win for us. and is a realistic chance of going further from there. raising our EyEs, early season... dare to dream. dare to struggle... dare to WIN. .
