  1. Ash is 100% correct. Alwyn Davey has played 3 of the more impressive debut games this year and people are writing him off? As for Aaron I don't think spells in the backline or forward line will help. He needs goals. One piece of magic that results in a goal could be all it takes. He needs to be played deep in the forward line this week. ND should tell him to just forget about his role in the team, forget about being beaten by his opponent, just go out there and kick a couple!
  2. Don't forget Brad Green always wanted to play midfield. That was probably his goal and maybe ND is just showing faith in him? Despite that I'd expect to see him at full-forward this week.
  3. Good point. Exposing our kids to the current style of footy may scar their careers forever. I think ND has to give the current line-up a chance to turn it around. The players must know they are on notice and in the next few weeks we will see how they respond. The second half of the year, when our youngsters have a bit of VFL experience under their belts, is the time to start blooding them. I am confident that Buckley, Frawley, Garland and Pettard will all play before the year is out.
  4. I actually thought Ferguson's game was quite good and it was mistake to keep him on the bench in the second half. Bate and Davey both need to be dropped. Someone rang triple m and said that Davey is struggling with an injury from the all star game. I'm not convinced, he looks fit enough. Just out of touch.
  5. There is nobody capable of taking over from our current coaching panel. Mark Williams would be my vote but I'm guessing he would be contractually bound to Sandy.
  6. Bate - 4? He was the worst player on the ground without a doubt. Could not get near it.
  7. Don't forget Nathan Ablett pulled out seconds before the game. ND could not have predicted this.
  8. Does that mean Chris Johnson is a class player Jaded? I wouldn't think so. Hopefully one day. Don't forget some of these blokes are still developing.
  9. I actually disagree. I think CJ needs a week at Sandy. He needs to get some game time and plenty of touches. With Brown, Godfrey, Ward and Wheatley in the seniors he will get his place straight back and will be better for his run in the magoos.
  10. Why Green? His kicking for goal has become a joke over the last couple of years. An out of form small forward does nothing, eg. Davey, where as an out of form midfielder might still get a few touches, eg. Johnstone. Besides we need our leadership group in the guts this week.
  11. HF: C.Bizzell, B.Miller, A.Yze F: A.Davey, P.Johnson, R.Pettard Bizzell, PJ and Yze to rotate playing deep with Davey and Pettard at their feet. Miller to lead up the ground al la last week.
  12. Didn't we beat the then unbeatable Brisbane in our first year of GABBA home games? I think from memory Neitz kicked 7 and Ward kicked 4? Anyone remember the details of that one? Just looked it up it was 2002 Melb 20.11 (131) dft Bris 16.14 (110) We were 6 goals down at qtr time, 5 goals down at half time, 9 pts down at 3 qtr time... and we won! Neitz 7, Ward 4, Robertson 2 Headland kicked 5 and Aker 4 Great game!
  13. I'm actually not looking forward to seeing us play on Sunday. However a backs to the wall win and I'm hooked for another few years!
  14. I agree with most that it would be great to see the kids play this weekend, however... The season is not over (even though it might feel like it). ND has to do the right thing and try to get us back on track. It is not time to experiment, just yet. ND has no choice but to look to our experienced players whever its Godfrey, Holland or Yze. Just take solace in the fact that if they can't get the job done they will be gone next year along with the coach. I think playing just one debutant is a good start this week. By the way, Neitz and Robbo are out for the best part of a month so Newton will get a chance, just not this week.
  15. ND should at least do the right thing by supporters and pick Pettard. Otherwise there is no reason to go on Sunday.
  16. On the strength of selection... Geelong by 100 points.
  17. Steve Bradbury still has his gold medal and Arma will always have his premiership medal. By the way, he has established himself as a regular in the best team in the competition and I for one would love the oppurtunity to select him this week for the red and blue.
  18. Godfrey deserves to keep his spot. There is no doubt about that even though there is still plenty of doubt about his ability. As for your ins YM surely Bizzell is ahead of Newton and Pickett in the pecking order.
  19. I don't think we need a cleanout. We need a coach that can get the best out of our current line up.
  20. How bout Ward. He is probably the only player that would back us to win. (Even if it is at the TAB.)
  21. The more i think about it, last year 2006, was our big chance. Losing twice to Carlton cost us a top 4 spot. With all our finals at the MCG we were a decent chance of claiming a flag. It is obvious things are not going to work this year. It will be easy for our players to give up, because not many of them have heart. Our supporters will give up shortly after.

    TJ

I agree that TJ's output over his career has not been satisfactory. The sad thing is that could be said about most of our team. Players like Green, TJ, Yze and White are constant letdowns. What I'd give for a team of honest performers. I think that is all us supporters want?
  23. It is clear to us all that we have a real fight on our hands if we are gonna play finals this year. We need something special. Once upon a time it was Bruce and Green that provided that spark in the forward line. Remember 2000? These days they both seem lost in our midfield and special moments are few and far between. In demonlanders opinion is it worth starting both forward this week? Are they capable of doing what they did back then?
  24. In - Mark Williams Out - Neale Daniher Slander has selection right.
