  1. Has anyone noticed how confident McDonald has become at (legally) pushing his opponent off the disputed ball, gathering and dishing it off? Sometimes he still gets caught on the run through hesitation in the middle but it's happening less and less.
  2. A lot of mainstream media types pushed the "wait and see" notion suggesting we would improve without it. I wonder what this years rationale will be.
  3. After yet another loss it is hard not to be wound up but even after a bit of a come down it is pretty obvious that we need commitment now. Until we get it from both PJ and PR we are chasing our tail on and off field. Seriously if we don't make inroads this year then were [censored].
  4. "Has to get rid of it quickly and eventually he does" - Kevin Bartlett.
  5. When your main causes for concern are elementary mistakes and questionable effort then 9 coaches out of ten (if not 10/10) will pretty much say the same thing. Grant Thomas is (apparently) an exception of course. Roos and Neeld both faced the same instance of fundamental errors. Both made the same correct observations however Neeld did not have the management ability, training regime or the group's buy in to address it (apparently). You judge a coach by their results not who/what they sound like. The peanut who wrote this article should take that on board. FWIW Roos played the same team as per round 1. Showed faith, prioritised stability and got a very average return. It is his job to see who is up to AFL standard (or can get there) and who can't. There is no connection of this to the fact that Roos' tenure is not yet set in concrete. I'm sure the playing group and the supporters would appreciate clarity but this article is trying to join dots that aren't there.
  6. Money is understandably very important to the Hirds. It is all they have left to protect.
  7. Interesting logic. So you're asserting that most supporters who want to see a change now, wouldn't care so much if we were winning - simply based on the fact that you, who don't want a change now, wouldn't care as much if we were winning. You are projecting your temperamental way of viewing this on to everyone else. Not to say you are the only one with this view of course. I won't speak for anyone else but I would have the same opinion on this regardless of how we are playing. As for importance, it is important enough for the club to survey its member base about it. If we are called the Demons it is hardly a far fetched notion that we actually have a Demon in our logo. The majority of top level sporting teams in the world have some sort of mascot/identity imagery in their logo. The club is aware of this. If it means improving our brand and appealing to more people at large then that is off-field performance. It can happen in conjunction with improving our footy. Interestingly we actually had a 'bringing back the Demon' thing a while back (pirate demon) but it was unfortunately a crap design and didn't take off.
  8. An easy mistake to make. It had all the personality of a cigarette packet. Swap the red for white and you've got a packet of Winnie blues.
  9. Cereal box mascot lol, give me strength. So was it a problem back in 2000 or did you think nothing of it?
  10. The red devil is a pivotal part of the Man United logo and identity. The demon should be more prominent in ours too. Whether that be a separate logo to the emblem (which could work) or a new emblem altogether (probably unnecessary) it remains the same point. Young people are receptive to imagery and identity. We will always be Melbourne but getting people to resonate with us e.g. Growth in Casey and the younger generation will take both good football and an identity that relates to people in a simple way. I think the logo in rpfc's avatar is a great logo. I don't know Stuie as a poster but I understand where he is coming from.
  11. It was more to do with the NB polo tops than the whole range but I take your point.
  12. I didn't mind the survey tbh. My main comments were about the emblem, our branding from now on and improving our apparel. All within the terms of reference I suppose but hey they took the time to ask. I like the current emblem but tbh it belongs on a letter head, not a child's school bag. I also don't think it needs to be on the guernsey as it is almost the same image anyway. Clearly the club is looking at how it can grow and resonate with more people. They've put the plan in place to (hopefully) do it on the footy field but I see no harm in working on the other aspects.
  13. "There's nine hundred million of them in the world today You'd better learn to like them, that's what I say" How true! To think the song was written back in 1980. 900,000,000 in the whole world back then not just China. The population of China alone is now nearly 1,400,000,000 and then how many Chinese people living outside of China! Wow. The number of Chinese people has jumped by nearly 500,000,000 in just over 30 years. Holy mother of chow. That increase is almost the same as the current populations of the USA and Indonesia put together and they are the 3rd and 4th highest populations by country in the world respectively. I for one welcome China Southern and all our Chinese supporters! 我喜欢中国 Go Dees. Go Chinese food!
  14. Ok so now that our list is set what are people's thoughts on Evans this year? Will he be prominent or just depth and can he get a gig up forward or is that shot with JKH, Byrnes and co and midfield his only option? From most of the training reports he hasn't stuck out at all but that doesn't necessarily mean anything I guess.
  15. I thought she made a reasonable point and had it been made in general dialogue it probably would have been received much better by some. The whole 'Caro's Arrow' thing is pretty silly tbh if she is struggling to come up with material for it though.
  16. Anyone know where we're at wrt the salary cap this year? The floor is 95% now is it not. Depending on the circumstances we may be in new waters for a club of matching (or preparing to) match an offer.
  17. Time to hop on the reality school bus?
  18. Nice to get this done early in the year. M Jones certainly did enough to show he can set the bar for a few others, handy if nothing else and consistent too. Kent obviously with his best ahead of him. Nice work Dees.
  19. Boak re-signed with Port until 2018 for anyone who missed it.
  20. So he doesn't want to be remembered as walking out on Adelaide. Fair enough. Rucci has a knack for extrapolation.
  21. This for me too. There are heaps of players I'm eager to see as the season progresses (Trenners, Toumpas, Vince etc) but those three tick important boxes for a curious fan leading into round one: performance, young quality and a possible coup pick up.
  22. Once the smirks, giggles and loud farts die down amongst the younger set during sessions they might even start to take it seriously and mature in a different kind of way. Worth a go, and who gives a rats if Mrs Roos is being remunerated.
  23. As a Dees fan I've got my swagger back. I mean I've always been pretty happy go lucky but the excitement! Whistled IAGOF as I buttered my toast this morning.
  24. Tyson with 2 years in the system is a good thing.
